open-wheel sprint car driver Wolfgang is up to the challenge we're about to find out if he can do it again Steve and guys in the duct is turning to the last row he's using a lot of the cover pops which are just layers of goggle material on top of the shield so the kids covered with muddy just keep peeling them off hoping for some visibility you'll often see them flying into the ears these cars come down the front straightaway as the drivers they we usually call them terror ways but he calls them cover ups and whatever the wolf wants the column will agree Kenny Jacob's one of the good runners in the fourth row Jack Harding child in the fifth row Kevin Dodie and Mike Brooks good runners in the rows 607 Johnny armed for the Mexico rocky Hodge is a local favorite from excellent drivers Ricky Stenhouse Tommy's car we saw him run earlier Todd bishop and Tim Watson they finished well to get into this race dan Hamilton and Keith remember we just saw him win and enroll oven starting 21st done well cake pan board made it because scooter Lambert dropped out of pantora finished third in the see may moves into the me Cavan Dodie in the 7l 77 Mike Brooks and one MCAT more that is Pat Moore's automobile upside down he's a young man from Illinois fine young driver first time here and did very well up until this moment until those three guys tangled going into turn number one on the opening left the last thing he needed to see was a crash in front of him like he was involved in last Thursday night almost contact there you see the wolf in that orange number eight as we watch those two automobiles kept guy had board Nick the wolf and then rolled up into the number seven out Kevin Doty who is by the way no relation to the very popular former Scripture and from another angle Rock I think we can see just how close number eight the earth guard up okay came to be gonna get involved in this just a matter of a few inches kept the whoop on the right track let's go down onto the dirt Gary walking away and pulling off the helmet obviously disappointed Kevin Dodie you appear to be okay can you tell us what happened Kevin well I'm fine just the 77 car Michael sparks just cut right down in front of me and probably believe the left or the right front tire and car just went straight into the wall it's got to be a major disappointment when you come to knacks Knoxville with all the hype all the money all the prestige it's on the line and to have it in like this well it is it really is a shame you know guys try and win the race on the first lap I wish I could have been in the maybe next year maybe hopefully out of this one he was 23 year old Patrick Mauro was mixed up in that thing first of all a year you're okay I would imagine oh yeah I'm all right just kind of disappointed of course how did it all transpired I don't know I came in there I started last so I didn't push it real hard in the corner just kind of taking it easy and there was somebody upside down in front of me and I just got on the brakes I ran in the back of Wolfgang and and locked her up and there was nothing I could do I just trying to avoid it but obviously a disappointment but you went a long way in this first time at the Nationals so you got to feel good about that a bad ending but up to this point good work yeah thank you Thanks okay Pat more of good spirits considering now he's got an awful lot of work to do in a wrecked car let's go to Gary Gerald and the third driver involved is Mike Brooks in like a lot of years racing at Knoxville and other tracks but it's never a comfortable moment when you end up in the middle of one of these can you tell us what happened somebody hit me I went over our left rear wheel and tore the birdcages stuff up don't know where he come from it's come from behind us but he just were no worse Fowler is how tough is it to put something like this behind you and now look ahead to whatever the next race may be Oh your mind is not very tough these things happen that's been our week and without hot lapping and had a guy pulled over from ER we've been through ivory Burke eight so we probably already set the race anyway we had some problem that we're gonna try out so we're out but there's always next week stock I like this race now it's a big race a big event we want to really do well maybe been running pretty good last couple weeks but it wasn't our night thank you Mike Steve well the field right now is laying quietly down and turn number four the first trucks are a mess when the restart call goes out they'll go into action Doug look gang at least now has two fewer drivers to pass I'm sure he'd rather have seen those guys to continue in that D main defense won't one a Bobby Allen scruffy he's sitting there his crew contemplated the a vain to come tonight of course that field will be complete when we finish off the race in progress we'll be back to Knoxville because now we've got the Beeman can we get a good three laughs under way well let's see we've got a good one up front - Kay Joey cooing out of Pennsylvania is on the fall and he will lead him down to advance into the AMA right now Johnny seven whoopee smoke top yes moving out Richard describe what he had to do earlier in the show and he has done it up until now now the crew hard at work tired changes though cap top off the fuel tank Doug Wolfgang will barely have a chance to get out and just change some Carraway's on the album and fold himself back in because we're going to be ready to go Gerry Richard jr. record Johnny Herrera and joey run very well in that maybe Keith Kaufman had tough run along to this race jack on child Tuggle instead house round off the top all right now down to one of the most amazing race drivers we have ever seen Gary Gerald I'll tell you what I've been fortunate to be allowing a lot of great race performances over the years but I kind of confess I'm as excited as I've ever been in a sprint car race I don't know how you feel right now you hear the crowd what a terrific run Doug I think we're about done know we're running red-hot now I don't know what it is a motoring hot the cockpits generating a lot of heat it must be about 300 degrees inside how much time do you need to get it cooled down we'll just have to see I'm tired and my next or from the other night any any way you cut it it's been a fantastic performance and we're just gonna sit back and hope that maybe we'll get a chance to watch you go to work once again we got enough steam left it's starting to slow down we'll just have to see what happens I'm starting to slow down my necks getting heavy I guarantee you he'll be ready by the time the green flag falls in the main event
