hey everybody I wanted to do a video today because as you know since I bought this wagon I've been wanting to add the landow luxury group to it and I needed carpet something terrible and all the carpet that I've looked at online it just it appears that only one company makes it that ACC and it's not the right color it's not the right material even for the base it's it's just not there's nothing correct about it at all the heel p is not correct or anything so I've been looking and looking and looking for a parch car with for something to add the two-tone green and landow luxury group with the thicker carpet and all that and I finally found the 78 Marquee bro so if you remember right this car the wagon has the base interior no carpet on the bottom of the door panels no extra insulation no pull strap no nothing just yuck I I don't I don't understand why they put the base interior in these LTDs like this especially when you got these dur weave seats but here was the biggest complaint you know this carpet has this big hole here and I've looked everywhere carpet can't find it so I knew I was going to have to get a parts car to get it so I've been looking ever since I bought the wagon and sure enough look at this we've got the two-tone interior with the carpet on the bottom of the doors all the extras thicker everything more insulation we got the pull strap we got the two-tone interior now before anybody jumps down my throat I know that the land out luxury group in the LTDs had a different little design right here but I'm to the point I don't care it's got what looks like the Mercury hood emblem and I'll put a picture up right here what the landow looks like and I'll also show you what it would have looked like if it had leather we wouldn't even have this conversation because if you had the leather interior it was just the same as the Grand Marquee period there was no seat ornamentation but I just haven't found one with leather so but look at this we've got the according to the broch sure the Marquee bro carpet is even thicker than what the land luxury group had so look at that the carpet's like new original heel pad and everything it's going to shampoo up really nice I just I'm so happy that I found this car cuz now I'm going to have the correct carpet and the two-tone interior that I wanted in a wagon to start with then the Mercury well here we'll talk about this a little bit look at this there's just cobwebs all over the carpet but it's going to clean up good and what you're seeing is mold and mildew all over the seats but as you know that will all wipe out really well too and even in the on the seats it's just everywhere but the Mercury gave you um cigarette lighters I don't know if you got that in the fordge I don't remember but again here's what we're dealing with just a plain armrest with no carpet on the bottom and see I don't think that you got the the cigarette lighter which I don't it doesn't matter I won't I probably won't put those in here and I also want to point out well here okay we're looking at this door how plain it is versus that door what a big difference huge difference and the carpet see it goes up underneath the seat here I don't think this is going to be a problem CU When you look up after market carpet for an LTD or a grandar Kee or a wagon or anything it comes up the same carpet and here I'm going to show you why I think that is there is a seam right here on both sides that you could tell that they added a piece of carpet to extend back a little bit underneath the seat so this is where the carpet is cut off anyway on both sides from the factory in the back of these wagons so I'm pretty sure that this carpet out of this sedan is going to work just fine this is a pretty loaded car it's funny that it's got power windows power door locks the the lock button for the window lock is broken I have not even put a battery in it yet you guys I don't know if any of this stuff works I don't know if it runs they said it set for eight or 10 years it sat underneath a carport with a tarp over it so it's got mud dobers Nest everywhere and wash Nest regular wash nest and I'll pop the hood to just it's so Rusty under there because it was sitting under this carport with rocks and dirt and it it simply couldn't breathe and everything just got so rusted in moldy and mildewy the dash is crack but I don't need that you know it's wouldn't be the same anyway and a Mercury but the seat pattern in the mar Marquee bro was the exact same as the LTD landow with the landow luxury group and if you like I say if you got leather it was the same as the Grand Marquee so we're not I'm not I'm just I'm simply not worried about that ornamentation right now I'll cross that bridge later I'm just so happy to have the door panels and the good carpet now notice it has black speaker grills those should be green those should be matching the door panels just like those and here's what I believe is G on the window sticker is in here it's funny there's two window stickers and they don't really Jive and I'll show you that but um oh hold on a second okay sorry about that I had a phone call um so what I think has gone on here on the window sticker there's no radio listed and if you look at this this has a Panasonic radio in it that fits great and it looks so much like the original Ford radio did but there's no upgraded stereo listed on the window sticker so I assume this car had a AM radio with just a dash speaker because look at this on both sides and this armrest is cracked it is actually on the wagon in the same place but I can fix those from the inside but look at this speaker wire that they ran out of this kick panel and right through this Rubber seal and behind the door panel and added speakers to this that's how they did it instead of going through the rubber which I mean that would have been a job but I I just still dis blows my mind that that's the way it was done and then they found black speaker grills instead of green ones it does look like original Ford speakers but anyway we've got power windows we've got power door locks we got power driver's seat we got tilt wheel cruise control rear window defrost power trunk release I mean fairly well optioned brome actually rightand remote mirror but it doesn't have intermittent windshield wipers and that just blows my mind it's almost like they just forgot to check the box so I feel like this would be a good opportunity to show you guys how to add delayed windshield wipers to your Mercury like this if you don't have it because I do have the setup that we can do all this and I'd like to show you how simple it is to add it if you don't have it I have not even tried to get off the trailer yet we like to never got it on the trailer here let me get the hood open all right here we go under the hood see how everything all the pulley and everything is just so rusted because it sat there all that time covered up with a tarp and it just couldn't breathe and the mud doers and stuff just got up underneath the tarp and made all kinds of Nest hood ornament is broken off it does have the bumper protection group too that's cool I like the front bumper It's got quite a bit of surplus rust on it but we will try to I put a battery in it we'll see if it'll start I'll just have to hook up a a different fuel source to it appears it does have the original Motorcraft spark plug wires on it looks like the AC's been switched over mud Topper's Nest here tires are shot this backman would not even hold air it was funny because I bought it off the grandson of the original owner and he was trying to put duct tape on there to get it to hold a and I told him I said I'm pretty sure that's not going to work and he found out pretty quick so when we pulled it up on there I mean once we pulled it out from underneath the carport it came off the rim and we just pulled it up there like that and I realized see in the pictures here I'll put the pictures on here real quick the only pictures that was on Facebook Marketplace that I had to look at so I didn't really know how bad it looked until I got down there see right here this is the only four pictures that I had to go by and they live too far away to go take me any more pictures so I had to drive 3 hours and just see what I found and you're looking at it but you know just by looking at the pictures that they had I couldn't see that this trim was coming off on both sides like that so just looking at pictures you know I thought that that was the original Ford you know Mercury bodyside molding that was held on with clips and stuff but when I got down there I realized it's peeling off and that's just kind of some kind of JC Whitney stick on stuff and it's peeling off on both sides and it's been painted once it's got see you got green paint on the exhaust pipe we've got some bubbling going on here in the quarter there's a lot of runs there's a crease here in the skirt where something's dented it there's a lot of peeling going on I mean look at the bumper or the bumper spacer the stone deflector there and you can just see where it was painted and masked off and just it's just it's lifting there's paint peeling everywhere and then of course here's a big spot so please don't go on about oh that car is too good to part out it you need to save it there's no saving this car the it's set that long I mean look it needs bumpers it needs paint it needs tires more than likely the carburetor rebuilt the fuel tank cleaned out the brake lines are just they look like the Titanic it would have to have brake lines front to back and Brake hoses looks like the fuel Tank's been leaking actually it's sat for a long time overspray on the fender skirt rubber I mean why wouldn't you take the fender skirts off before you paint something but all in all it was a very nice car when it was new now in the glove box here yeah look at these nests everywhere but it's just so great that the carpet's in such good shape and the original floor mats and the two-tone seats that I wanted and I'll go to the back to the junkyard and get that seat out of the other station wagon and have this material put on it because I will never get rid of the door weave seats totally I I'll just keep them in case I ever saw that car somebody can have them if they like them that much because people have really spoken up about how much they like them well I'm not a fan see here they come actually they came out of the antenna grommet on this side with the speaker wire and in behind the Rubber and in behind the door panel to get to the speaker it's crazy now here's I assume the way this is all wrinkled up this would be the original window sticker but what's odd here's another copy and if you look down at the bottom 61 well 61 6505 the VIN number jives everything on these as far as the VIN number and stuff where it was built the dealership that it went to the method of transportation was Convoy but if you get up here and start looking the original price on this good one is 6638 and on this wrinkled up one is 6480 for the base price and we've got medium Jade paint glamour metallic $62 extra cost option that's the same on each one and then for the Barkey brome was all included select shift automatic transmission power steering front or power front disc brakes Solid State ignition coolant recovery system system steel belted radial tires Deluxe sound package power windows were standard in the brome vinyl roof fender skirts no cost automatic parking brake release no cost and the full Jade uh dark Jade vinyl roof was no cost then we get here on this one the 6.6 L 400 engine $136 but over here on this one is $126 $10 difference uh seats twin Comfort $997 $97 on that one the steel belted radial tires tires $50 they jive on that one uh clock digital $28 $26 on this one let's see where am I at steering wheel tilt $75 7 $72 on this one speed control $125 $120 power seat six-way driver's side $155 on this one $149 seat passenger recline $63 $63 on this one bumper protection group $62 bumper protection group $59 see it's really odd um defroster electric rear window $96 defroster electric rear window $93 air conditioning manual $592 $583 over here [Music] app parent protection group $58 $58 here uh Glass Tinted complete $78 $75 visibility Light Group $66 $66 on this one loot convenience group $137 on this one $133 on this one transportation and handling $263 $263 so we got a difference of here we got $ 8781 for the total price and we got 8575 here because none of these it's just so weird because everything I like I said it's identical VIN number where it's built everything is all exactly the same except these numbers are off on these two window stickers so I don't know what's going on there there's your power trunk release button like I said I haven't tried any of this stuff I don't know if it works it doesn't have the light advisors like I was hoping to find but everything is going to clean up great I can just tell and the wagon's going to finally get one step closer to being what I wanted it to be so the bad news on the wagon so far I have been driving it we've got a freeze plug leaking at least one it looks to me like they all need to be replaced the radiator is leaking I got to get that out and get it fixed just simply have not had time uh it needs U joints I can hear it squeaking plus now I'm feeling a vibration we still got the Leaky gas tank to tend with I'm I'm trying to run all the gas out of it I've just been driving it back and forth to town I still got to get the seats dyed and these rear interior panels here dyed I just not sure how I'm going to get all this done before I go to Dearborn in June I want to take this car so oh exhaust we're still waiting on one tailpipe I don't know what the hold up is on that so that's where we're at on the wagon I haven't done anything yet I haven't added any options cuz I want to get the mechanics all lined out first and I've just been too busy that's all there is to it but I just wanted to show you that we will be one step closer here to adding the landout luxury group and finally I found some good original carpet for this car I didn't think I was ever going to find it no way was I putting in that aftermarket stuff that's not close at all so just wanted to touch base with you guys let you know what I'm up to I went down in southern Missouri and got this last Wednesday this is that was a week ago yesterday it's still on the trailer so anyway just wanted to give you an update because I haven't seen you for a while and just touch base on everything so oh and I was at Arch yesterday too we got his 58 Chevy back together so I'll have a video to post on that as well so stay tuned for that one but I just wanted to show you this car that I drag home and I'm pretty happy with what we found so please stay tuned if you want to see this transformation please remember to like comment and subscribe thank you for watching
