I love how they just somehow got him to give all the backstory himself. He was all wound up with nostalgia when he got handed those keys that he couldnt hold it in.
Damn good kids.
You can always pick out the kindest older people by the way that they try to avoid wasting everyone else's time. He was ready to keep walking after he pointed the car out, but they had to push him to give it a look.
Makes me think of my grandmother. She was the nicest person you'd ever meet, but keeping her on the phone was so difficult because she didn't want to waste my time. You feel bad for them, but it really is purely out of kindness.
He looks incredibly tall
When I was a little girl, I promised my dad that I'd one day buy him the '67 Chevelle SuperSport he'd always wanted as a young man. By the time I headed off to college and realized that as a future teacher, I'd have NO chance at ever keeping my promise, I started scouring model shops until I found a replica '67 SS to give him for his birthday. I'm really happy that this daughter was able to do this for her dad.
Extra anecdote for car folks who might be reading: Dad actually had a chance to get a used SS in 1971 when he was 17 or 18, but my grandmother wouldn't cosign for it because it was a muscle car. He looked a little longer and brought her paperwork a few weeks later for an Oldsmobile, which she gladly signed, declaring it a safer and more reasonable purchase. She was less than thrilled when he drove home the next day with his first car: a 442.
The background music is always an atmosphere assassin in these videos.
The look of a man who just stepped into a time machine.
Just goes to show that love is actually the strongest bond. Not just being blood. Thatβs a father and daughter right there.
Wow, the license plate spells YDHT, which if im picking up correctly is referring to the line in the opening text, βHe was the best father for two kids that he absolutely didnt have to raiseβ. He didnβt have to. YDHT, You Didnβt Have To.
But he did.
Im fucking sobbing
I'd do anything to be able to go back and hear my dad tell stories from his past like that.
