1918 Steinway Model O

hi I'm Ben blizzan with inside pianos thank you for your interest in one of my instruments I option for bringing out the potential in pianos and each one that leaves my showroom has received at minimum a comprehensive action regulation and Hammer voicing many receive deeper restoration my goal is to produce pianos that are ready to make music not ones that require costly improvements on the part of the new owner since you're interested in pianos you may enjoy my YouTube content which is designed to grow your knowledge of and enthusiasm for this great instrument but now to the piano at hand we're looking here at a 1918 Steinway o in a mahogany case I want to give you some more details and history on this instrument and let you hear some sound recordings the piano is lucky to have been owned by a very musical family that cared deeply for it I'm handling the sale of this piano for a woman whose uncle was a professional pianist he owned the instrument for much of the 20th century then it passed to the current owner who is herself an avid amateur pianist in 2012 she paid to have the family piano fully restored In This Very building by my associate expert Rebuilder John Johansen of Mosaic pianos here in Greensboro North Carolina what I mean by fully restored is that it received a new PIN block the action was completely rebuilt the pedal assembly rebuilt as well the bridge was re-notched and the soundboard underwent a Rejuvenation in which the cracks were filled and the surface was coated with a marine grade epoxy importantly ribs were re-secured to the soundboard with screws discreetly concealed by Spruce plugs This Modern approach to Soundboard repair using epoxy allows the Rebuilder to restore and prolong the life of soundboards better than ever and in the case of this piano staying faithful to the original construction really paid off there's a lovely bloom in sustain inherent to this soundboard and the piano has one of the more gorgeous middle ranges I've heard [Music] foreign [Music] foreign I've made sure the Hammers are aligned and mated to the strings I've touched up the action regulation and have performed quite a lot of voicing refinement I also had my Finnish experts spend a day giving the case a refresh the case is not Flawless but it's quite respectable though it doesn't affect performance I feel the piano would present very nicely with new key tops if a buyer likes I can provide this for an additional fee of 1250. speaking of Aesthetics the owner elected to keep the worn look of the plate so it wouldn't seem too unlike the piano she remembered personally I find the combination of the patina plate with John Johansson's tidy work very attractive without further Ado I'll let you listen to debussy's reverie which illustrates two things I really enjoy about this piano the variety of tone for one and also the way a complex Haze of sound accumulates around the sustained notes as though the piano is creating its own Reverb I know the current owner would be thrilled for it to go into a home where it will be enjoyed for years to come [Music] thank you [Music] thank you [Music] foreign thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] thank you [Music]
