15 things I WISH I knew Before Playing AFK Journey (Tips/Tricks)

these are some of the biggest mistakes or things I wish I would have known before playing AFK Journey these are some tips that are mid game early game end game let's get started one thing I wish I would have done more of is synergy battle requests especially when I was getting stuck on stages now I'm like 21 or 22 days into the game and I'm doing AFK stage 836 but I probably could have been 10 or 15 stages further had I done this and actually even maybe more than that because of getting more progression earlier on when you fail a stage you're able to do an AFK Synergy battle you're able to send out a request to guilds as well as to the teamup channel and other people can send in an additional unit for you to use so after someone sends help I can bring in an additional unit to help me out and you can do this one time per day which means I'm now going to be able to clear this most likely unless I get you know murdered uh but that is a lot of extra prog ression over the course of 21 days that's 21 stages that you might not have been able to compete or complete before and so it's very important to do this because these small gains go a long way it also leads to Diamonds as well as letters and even gear drops for your account so do this every single day if you can I don't care if it's just one stage if it's only going to give you a bit more gold do it because these things snowball and sometimes when you clear that stage that was a roadblock the other ones are easier and allow you to complete it easier and you can push like four five or 10 more stages so always be doing this make sure that you don't waste it because it resets every day at the daily reset and you want to take advantage of this because I'm honestly 10 or 15 days behind on that progression the same thing goes for chests around the map if you can't beat an enemy send off a Synergy battle you get one a day so that's potentially 20 more chests that I could have opened or it's progression in the next 5 days if I do Synergy battles I can kill all five of these enemies I can get another chest and I can get one of these big chests this is super important these red chests are very big for your progression because if I click on this thing let me just zoom in on that bad boy it'll show you it's going to give me an item for my Mage it's going to give me a letter it's going to give me some diamonds as well as some hero Essence and experience these chests are very good for progression especially if it's an item for a character that you're actively using whether it's a weapon or an arm you know an arm piece or a boot or whatever it might be and so over the course of 5 days if I do this that could be a big boost to my progression and I've missed a ton of these I've missed a bunch of these days and I didn't even do it last night so I know that I'm still making this mistake don't waste this another mistake is not trying fights that seem too hard I walked into here complaining about oh I don't have enough Synergy battles I just stomped that enemy I didn't expect it so I might be able to get this chest today even though I I thought no there's no way there's just no way maybe I need to still use a Synergy battle or two but some of these fights you can pick off easier than you might think so don't be afraid just because they're a higher level another thing I wish I would have done sooner is use this push comp there's multiple different teams whether you're using Brutus to survive or you're using Coco but these comps are insanely good I did an entire video on it but this is one of the most meta comps in the game and if you want to see it in action you can go to any fight in the game and you can check out the records and almost everyone is using this exact comp you can go in and watch the replay and this will show you exactly how to place your characters to hopefully clear it if I copy this one to one chances are I will be able to clear this with my team even if it's not exact it can give you an idea how to place your units and hopefully we'll be able to take this out first try but make sure to use those replay systems and there's a reason some of these teams are being used and are meta because they work yes using your favorite characters is important but some of these comps are just extremely good at pushing the story content and AFK stages so don't be hard-headed use what works now the next thing I want to talk about is the arena doing these weekly rewards is extremely important and actually tonight when it resets if I do one more fight I can buy another legendary unit out of the Arena shop here I can get my human copy and get her Mythic plus which is amazing and I've already bought two different copies of sisia so this is a a great tool for progressing your account but the one thing you have to think about and I want to discuss is also spending gems to do purchases uh for these these daily purchases to get extra fights now if you're really close to leveling up and getting another Rank and getting some of these rewards that is cool there's the first time rewards you can see I've obtained this this one I haven't so this is a great reward to get but you might notice here even though I obtained this and I got to Legendary 3 I'm all the way back down to Legendary 2 unfortunately other people are going to kill you a whole bunch defense loss defense loss defense loss it's going to happen all the time and you're going to lose points so it's very hard to stay in there I would caution you of spending too many diamonds uh trying to unlock these onetime bonuses because over the course of two or 3 days you might spend three four 500 diamonds and then you're getting this bonus and you don't even stay up there and you have to keep pushing and pushing and I just don't think it's really worth it now if you are not going to get these rewards cuz you haven't done enough fights then maybe that's something you need to consider but you get enough free fights every day to do this and and and get these Quest completed so as long as you're doing your daily fights I think you're good to go I personally wish I had some of those diamonds back because I I think that you can kind of artificially push into the harder difficulties but it's really hard to stay there it's really tough to stay there as people level up and all these different things and so I think it's one of those things where it's like when you're ready you'll be there you know pushing and and wasting four 5600 diamond is just to get this bonus is like it's negligible it truly is that being said pushing into the higher ranks does you give you more daily and weekly rewards so there is some benefit there but just be careful the next thing is dream realm now I do pretty good in the dream realm overall but the rewards you get based on your ranking will change and I really wish I I would have invested a little bit heavier into my dream realm teams I wish I would have started building some of the light bearer units sooner so that I could pump out the most damage possible because in the long term every single day that I'm missing out on these gold pieces it kind of sucks and missing out on these and and and not getting 400 only getting like 300 that adds up over the course of a week which delays me even further and makes it even less likely that I'm going to push in here I wish from day one I would have invested in a few units and I want to talk about them really quickly I was an idiot and had Lucius in my wish list and I don't even really use him anymore because I thought oh man I need another tank it was an absolute mistake because now I'm delayed getting Marley up and running she's such an insanely good damaging unit and I don't really have her functioning at full capacity the other one is Corin who is woefully behind like so far behind unfortunately you also can't dictate luck and I just keep getting grave Bo units I keep getting so many grborn units I've got 500 leas I just can't stop getting them it's really frustrating it's really annoying but it is what it is however there is a way to mitigate that and that is with the Emporium I would highly recommend you pay attention to the Emporium I invested very heavily in Smokey or sorry ODI I always make that mistake I always invest in ODI because OD is a great poison unit a very good DPS but I am actually starting to purchase copies of her because I want to get her up and running for the necro dragon and and things like that so this is a way to at least fix your RNG but it's one of those kind of self-fulfilling prophecies I don't have the best dream realm teams so it's taking longer to buy stuff from the dream realm store I I wish I would have invested in this sooner because this is one of the biggest progression things on my account right now now the dream reals a great place to also get title Essence and this is one of the other things that I wish I would have paid a little bit more attention to is I was a little bit willy-nilly on using this stuff and I wish I would have waited a little bit longer there's certain units that get a ton of value getting the early upgrades using title Essence on their um specialty weapon as well as in their actual kit in the skills but not everyone is created equally and benefits the same I wish I was a little bit safer on my decisions even on her I invested in her got her all this crit damage and it's like I don't have her Mythic weapon yet so she's not even half as good as what she will be and so it's great that I've got this and I don't have to do it later but I should have just waited until she was up and running and ready to go now I knew to join into a guild as soon as possible but I wanted to also show this off CU a lot of people don't know about this your guild also has a monthly ranking and depending how you do you get a massive reward and so being in a bad Guild absolutely punishes you and I'm not going to say it's easy to get into a good top tier Guild we are the second best Guild on our server that comes with some huge rewards this currency allows you to buy the best characters or some of the best characters in the game and at the end of the month if we can hold the top three rankings we get 12,000 of it that's onethird of one of the best units in the game it it's actually slightly more than that on top of that 5,000 diamonds a month if we can hold these top rankings which is pretty crazy but if you're much lower down things start to slow down tremendously you're only getting 2500 you're only getting a th000 diamonds if you think that you're a dedicated player if you're active I would look for a better Clan don't settle for less if you can get into even some of these ones in the top 50 top 60 top 100 you're going to be doing so much better long term on your account now the next thing is wish lists now if I was making a brand new account and I was trying to be as optimal as possible I think that this would be my wish list the reason why is because an early copy of Rowan or Brutus allows me to then take them off and swap for a different unit but a lot of the units that are in here are super super good Vala is a great DPS unit and now that she's on the wish lists that's fantastic Smokey one of the best healers and then whether it's huan or granny these are both awesome units but it's actually iron or Aon who is insanely good when you get multiple copies and with the graveborn I had sisia on here and I kind of wish I would have got uh I would have gotten her off here sooner the reason why is I'm reminded now that I could have bought multiple copies from the arena shop and I think it's just optimal long term to not be pulling for units that are on the wish or or in the arena shop at all I also wish I would have changed up some of my epic units sooner to something similar to this um these units are just so much better than anything else that is available and I had Lucius on here for way too long on top of that KOCO can be interchanged with her uh kruga you need all these all these units are valuable for different things um but I wish I would have just started working on Coco a little bit sooner because she's been an absolute Game Changer uh for my account uh just for pushing content on top of this with the Wilder parissa is starting to get a lot more value uh people are starting to realize that she is a crazy nuking unit however I think I would have picked ardan uh I've seen some comps to this and it's really crazy as for the graveborn they need some new units it is what it is we can't cry about it too much but I just wish I would have been a little bit smarter with my wish list one big mistake that one one big mistake that I was making that I wish I didn't is I got Grady and I did a lot of just single pulls I was close to pity and I was like I'm just going to hit it or I was three or four away and I would hit it in instead of doing a 10 pull and guaranteeing an a-level hero I would do single PS and the same thing goes with these it's so tempting to hit that you know percentage and try to get that that 5% chance but I'm pretty sure this 5% is including pity it doesn't say it on here but I think that it is and I also think that's the same with the A-L Heroes this is including pity so what that means is if you were doing only single pulls you're actually most likely pulling way less a level units than you should but you're also not going to randomly hit that 5% chance to hit one of these units it's probably only a couple of percentage points that you're actually going to snipe them so for me if I know that I'm almost always going to hit pity I think it'd be way smarter next time around if I make a new account always be saving up for a 10 pole another thing that I'm not fully sure was a mistake but I ended up spell it spending like 1,800 of this currency on three polls over here normally they're discounted and I just got greedy and I was like I just want to pull and I did the same thing over here I just did a random PLL and I don't know you know once the story and some of these events go away how much this currency is going to come into play and so buying these extra expensive ones this means that I may miss polls down the road if I can't replenish this currency I may get to a point where I can't stargaze but also because stargazing is so limited the amount you can get I even question at sometimes getting these epic pulls because if I can't replenish this is there a point one day where I cannot buy the stargaze this is you know it hasn't happened officially yet I don't know for sure but I want to be very careful because the the hypen Celestial units you're probably only going to get them on pity but delaying your progression and delaying getting these units is probably going to hurt you long term and so it's the long con and I want to be very careful that I didn't mess it up another mistake I made early on is I saw that there was a survey and I just didn't do it well some of the compensated surveys that they send out are a th000 diamonds which is pretty darn good for like 5 minutes not even 2 minutes of your time if you see a survey in here and it says compensated reward or whatever it is uh take a look because a lot of the time it's a thousand diamonds and I just like deleted one I just didn't even look at it I was like no I'm not doing it gench and impact always does that they send out these surveys and they give you like two gold in game and it doesn't matter but um these ones they're actually pretty worth it another thing is just being creative I know anyone who's going over here is dead but using Damian can allow me to get a a healing card on the field here and essentially have an extra unit on the field um he'll resummon that cart and I won't actually lose him and I I just think that that's really interesting how certain Maps you might want to use that super uninvested Brutus to tank someone long enough to make your account live or your characters live that are more well invested Sometimes using your high rank units of a faction you don't normally use is the difference between winning and losing and so just try it get creative and sometimes I think I followed the meta a little too rigidly now in the early game iron h of Forge isn't that great the weapons are in some cases a scam because you can get better ones from the dream realm way easier but some of the armor pieces here and there are okay and I did buy some for my account as an upgrade that being said when you start getting into the later game some of these are Big upgrades and you might not replace them for some time now for my main units that I use such as my support as well as my tank I want these upgrades because it gives you extra HP but one of the big ones is also crit reduction or crit chance reduction so the enemies won't critical hit you and one bang you as often which is very important and I don't know when I'm going to get one of these pieces I could get very lucky from AFK rewards but this is a guaranteed way to get an upgrade and push further push AFK stages further and so I buy them not everything is worth it and some stuff you will outscale or just get lucky and not need them but f the classes that you actually use I would do it I don't use a lot of Mages so I'm not buying this one and it's a weapon so it's even less valuable because you can get those from the dream realm but for armor pieces I absolutely think that it's worth it it is a big big upgrade in some cases look at this this thing is going to be oops sorry that's not the one look at this 20 levels on that bad boy what's on this one another that's 30 level upgrade that is a ton of HP a ton of survivability for my account right so yeah make sure you're doing this ASAP this is a five level upgrade and that's getting 6,000 HP more right so you know when you're when you're upgrading 30 levels these are big games so some people don't know about this but you're going to have side quests that open up that you can click through and get diamonds but Town quests will also open up and you need to make sure you do these in the case of me I've got two of these that just opened up and this is giving me 221 dust each that is a lot that is like half of a of an Ascension in a day and so I definitely want to be grabbing these as soon as possible because ascending a unit can allow you to push AFK stages beat the bosses yada y yada this is very very important stuff do these ASAP on top of this people didn't know that there's a little side quest to unlock this shop for Keith I don't know exactly when it opens up but as long as you're doing your quests you should find it but this is a very interesting shop when you fight enemies in the open world you will be able to buy all these different things now again with the armor pieces some of them can be a big upgrade for you when they drop but for me I don't really use Mages I don't use Rogues I didn't buy these ones on top of that the experience books start losing some value uh once the wolf Lord boss comes out you're going to have way more experience books than you know what to do with so I would highly recommend buy what you need to progress in the shop but for right now I am focusing much heavier on the polls because if I can get that random copy of Coco to a center or OD or whatever it might be these can be gamechanging upgrades as well so that's what I'm doing I'm just fighting enemies and when I can I'm purchasing the soul Stones so that I can hopefully get lucky and get the characters that I want now this isn't necessarily a mistake I made because I already knew this but people need to understand that your hall of resonance is not leveling up the character it's leveling up the slot so I can make huan 170 Marley 170 Leica 170 it doesn't matter I can move that over and make Rowan 170 you can slot anyone you want in here move them however you want and you can do it indefinitely as many times as you want so when you're going in to that dream realm juice up the characters that you're using if you're doing the arena use up the characters that you're using and if you want to be super hardcore and you're going to bed for the night you can put your defense units in there as well I mean that's cracked but I mean you can do it on top of that things like the legend trial go in with your best team with all the people ascended right now Tower of nature is at 46 if I can push just a few more floors I can get hero Essence so what am I going to do I'm going to grab one of my DPS units that I use on that team and I'm going to throw her in this slot to help with that push I can then hopefully get this to progress my other characters so these little optimizations can be a big game Cher for you those 10 levels or that passive ability that you unlock can be breaking like game breakingly good and I can show you that right now for most characters ascending them to the next tier might give them something subtle a little damage upgrade or whatever it might might be but for others there may be an entire new passive like gaining 500 energy when a skill is triggered there's a case with sisia where all of a sudden her ultimate Mr Carlile um gets this massive AOE 320% damage AOE gamechanging AOE ability that also gives the unit life drain it's insanity and at 131 this is unlocked not every unit is built different some units at level 131 they just get like 10% more damage which is cool but you need to really pay attention to these things and you can slot different characters in absolutely in the case of this maybe Leica is my best choice but maybe my huan gets a crazy healing ability that makes me tanky or she gets this crazy Shield that allows you to survive test out with multiple different units what's going to be the best bang for your buck depending on the level of a Ascension but those are some of the main tips that I had and honestly if you guys have any big tips or things you wish you knew before you started playing let me know in the comment section
