while nature can sculpt some truly remarkable things we humans can sometimes be quite good at playing god ourselves with some man-made creations being truly brilliant and almost rivaling what nature has to offer there are some truly talented people out there and their work and time deserves celebration these are the most amazing man-made creations in the world [Music] number 15 bagger 280a everyone knows that time is money the more time you spend doing something the more money it costs you to do it that's why it was a good day when bagger 288 rolled off the production line of the crop company bagger 288 is a bucket wheel excavator mining machine built by the krupp company for reinbraun an energy and mining firm but it's not just your standard small excavator no siree this one is unlike any other it is taller than the statue of liberty heavier than the eiffel tower at 13 500 tons and costs over 100 million dollars to produce it also takes three or four people to operate bagger 288 was finished in 1978 and took five years to design and manufacture followed by another five years to assemble so why put all this money and effort into an excavator because it would do something that reinbraun wanted result in time and monetary savings it used a revolving wheel of buckets to shovel 8.5 million cubic feet of dirt from open pit mines every day it could then extract around 265 000 tons of fuel daily too no excavator in history had ever seen such productivity like this video smash the subscribe button and click the notification bell right now or slenderman will come from under your bed while you're sleeping now it's time for the odd topic this might look like it's some kind of epic energy cannon used to open at stargate but it's actually an all-new jet engine for the f-16 fighting falcon this footage comes from the testing process at the engine test cell facility better known as the hush house when in the plane these incredible engines can produce a whopping 29 000 pounds of static thrust in an afterburner this means that at top speed the jet fighter can propel through the air at almost twice the speed of sound remarkable right remember to comment down below with the hashtag oddtopic and let us know your opinion in relation to what we just showed on screen and now to the next topic number 14 microchips for humans whether we like it or not microchips for humans are becoming more and more of a reality we use rfid tags on our livestock microchips on our pets so we may as well use them on ourselves too many people are fearful of the idea citing potential health risks or privacy violations in saying that could there not be more benefits than drawbacks of this amazing man-made creation hannah's getting an electronic chip implanted into her hand a vending solutions president patrick mcmullen thought so he had watched in amazement as swedish citizens were able to turn on coffee machines and unlock doors thanks to microchip implants under their skin he thought that was pretty convenient but how could it be convenient in a business he had 50 volunteers in his business have microchips implanted in their skin and they were then able to do different things in their wisconsin office that would normally only be possible with cards and fobs they could unlock doors computers and gain access to different rooms in their office building one day there will come a time when we're all microchipped imagine being able to access your medical history background contact information and identification all with a small chip under your skin boggles the mind number 13 mount rushmore there aren't many mountains that have more than 2 million visitors every year but mount rushmore is the exception and that's only because it's one of the most amazing man-made creations in the world [Music] mount rushmore is known as the shrine of democracy and features 60-foot faces of four american presidents these faces are on the southeastern side of the mountain in the black hills national forest of south dakota sculptor guts on borglum came up with the original design and work began in 1927 by the time it was finished in 1941 400 workers had removed 450 000 tons of rock in some terrifying conditions initially the design was supposed to have each of the four presidents carved in stone from the waist up however after a lack of funding work finished once the heads had been carved out of the mountain even though it's technically not finished it's not hard to believe this creation is completely astounding it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country and it's somewhere you can visit year round it's also designed to represent the united states of america's birth growth development and preservation number 12 hubble telescope before galileo looked to the heavens with his telescope in 1610 we were clueless as to what lay beyond our natural eyesight all of a sudden our eyes were open to the possibility that there was more to our universe than what we could see around us we learned that jupiter had many moons and that saturn had rings we even learned that those unique looking clouds in the sky were a cluster of stars now known as the milky way over time we advanced and grew the microscope until it was showing and telling us more than we had ever known astronomer edwin hubble was leading the way he used the largest telescope ever made in the 1920s at the mount wilson observatory near pasadena california to uncover galaxies we never knew existed that's why when a telescope was launched into space to orbit the earth in the 1990s it was called the hubble space telescope hubble was reborn again and again over the years by astronauts it was a tribute to what he had achieved now that telescope shows us the earth from a more enlightening position than what we see through a regular one on earth that telescope even three decades later continues to be the only space-based microscope number 11 the bai long elevator the zhang jia zia national forest park in the hunan province of china is famous for many reasons travelers from around the world visited to see the many sandstone pillars that reach heights of more than 3 000 feet but do you know what else they go there for to take a ride on the bylong elevator this remarkable piece of engineering enables visitors to scale the pillars at previously unachievable heights rather than view them from the ground you and 63 other people can get into the elevator and travel 1069 feet up into the air the entire elevator is also 1099 feet high there are three sightseeing areas with three separate sections of the elevator operating at any one time this means that up to 4 000 people can use the elevator in an hour once aboard you'll travel at speeds of 16 feet per second up from 10 in 2016 before modifications the elevator cost 180 million yuan to produce and was listed in the guinness book of world records it remains the highest fastest largest loaded outdoor elevator in the world number 10 tunnel boring machine tunnels being built today almost seem to go up overnight it doesn't take much time at all to dig out a hole in a mountainside than to have traffic flowing through them before long but 100 years ago it would take years it would even cause a few fatalities with work crews along the way but the tunnel boring machine changed all that which is why it is one of the most amazing creations in the world this type of machine also gets called a mole and it excavates tunnels of all material types it doesn't matter if it's boring into rock or soil it's like a knife through hot butter the type of tunnel boring machine that's used can depend on how large the tunnel is a 3.3 foot tunnel for example only needs a micro tunnel boring machine however a tunnel as large as 58 feet which is the maximum would require the largest machine on the market these machines work by creating a circular cross-section through the rock dirt or sand however they can also generate horseshoe or square shaped tunnels as well the first one ever made was produced in the 19th century and it was a mere piece of iron framework that had room for workers to actually get in and help tunnel the earth out with pickaxes and shovels number nine the spirit gustav gunn during world war ii adolf hitler of nazi germany seemed unstoppable and thanks to a german arms manufacturer he nearly was when hitler wanted to invade france one of the only things that stood in his way was the concrete fortifications of the french maginot line therefore he knew he had to have a weapon of some kind that could get through it that weapon was the schwa gustav in 1941 gustav krupp a metallurgist and german arms manufacturer created a giant cannon that he gave to hitler's army for free he did this to show his contribution to the war effort the schweiter gustav was no ordinary gun it was 40 feet tall over 150 feet long and weighed about 1 350 tons it was also capable of firing 10 ton shells through a 99 foot pipe which was long enough to seat 22 people side by side the gun became known as the great gustav and needed 2 000 people to provide air cover for it while it was in use two such guns were made with the second called dora they were used against stalingrad but they were withdrawn when the soviets threatened to encircle them number eight the terracotta army if you've ever thought about paying a visit to china then on the list of places to visit would have to be the terracotta army in linton xianxiang province this attraction is unlike anything you would have ever seen before the terracotta army is a unesco world heritage site and one of the most significant archaeological excavation sites in history they consist of life-sized terracotta sculptures set out in a battle formation there are horses and warriors and they're supposed to represent the imperial guard troops of the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of imperial china known as emperor chinchi huang the sculptures date back to between 259 and 210 bc and they are in a live museum built on the site called emperor chin xi huang's mausoleum site museum here you can see the life stories of the qin empire the statues took 11 years to finish and it's thought that alongside the life-size figures there are also pottery and other treasures buried underneath the museum covers 16 300 square miles with 7 000 pottery chariots horses soldiers and weapons most of them have been restored to their former glory for all to view number seven the smart strap can you remember how inconvenient phones used to be you used to have to sit by the handset and untangle the phone cord you could never get any privacy either for the home phone was often in the common area of the house so with a product like the smart strap from sgnl it's pretty apparent that we've come a long way this regular watch strap allows you to make phone calls with the tip of your finger we're not kidding you put the watch strap on then push your finger up to your ear to hear and receive calls even in noisy surroundings the call quality is crystal clear and there's no fumbling around in your pocket for your phone the strap takes the voice signal from your phone through bluetooth then generates a vibration through its body conduction unit finally i agree god good okay so i'll see you after this transmits the vibration to your fingertip then when you put your finger into your ear the vibration creates sound our minds are blown you can even attach the smart strap to your apple watch pebble time or samsung gear what'll they think of next number 6 ray remotely operated underwater vehicles rovs are no new invention they've been around in a commercial sense for the military and commercial projects for a long time but in recent years the everyday underwater enthusiast has been able to get their hands on them too however in this capacity they are called underwater craft or drones one such model is the power ray which is gonna blow your mind the power ray moves at speeds of around three knots and can operate in chlorinated fresh or salt water people can use it as a hobby or for underwater exploration at depths of about 98 feet it has a camera two adjustable led lights and dual thrusters there's even a port for you to add your fish finder if you're just trying to make your fishing trip a little bit more productive this drone can even see in the dark thanks to its lighting and has a 95 degree wide angle lens while the military may have been the only group to benefit from this tool for years it's now the everyday person's time to get in on the action number five water bicycle we've got plenty of watercraft we can use at our local watering holes but do you know what would be even more fun a bicycle that can travel on water and here it is this cool contraption is called the manta 5 and it's a hydrofoil water bike it has a 400 watt motor a battery that lasts around an hour and it can travel at around 12 miles per hour so it's not exactly going at a snail's pace it also uses the same technology as sailboats which is pretty cool when you think of a bike in the water it doesn't sound all that easy but surely the bike's frame creates drag that makes pedaling quite hard see that's what makes this man-made creation so magical it's actually really easy as you pedal the bike is propelled forward and its hydrofoil wings create lift the bike is then pushed out of the water so basically the only part of it that's touching the water is the hydrofoils thinking about going out on your canoe lame grandpa get a water bicycle already number four pyramids of giza when you see structures built today the size of the framework and walls being moved into place aren't all that spectacular after all it's made by machines and moved into position by machines but the reason why the pyramids of giza are one of the most amazing man-made creations is that so much of it was done with manual labor and the results are anything but ordinary the pyramids of giza were built as tombs for the pharaohs of egypt the first one was built at around 2550 bc and stood at about 481 feet tall for the next 3 800 years it remained the tallest structure of course its height is something special but so too are the building materials there are around 2.3 million blocks of limestone in the pyramid and these weigh between 2.5 and 15 tons each they were handmade and then moved about 500 miles all with human strength and a few old bits of manual machinery they managed to whip up the second pyramid to form the pyramids of giza was equally as amazing for it contained 144 000 casing stones that weighed about 15 tons each number three zhang glass bridge it took humans a reasonably long time to master the art of bridge making but it's not hard to realize that today that skill has well and truly been mastered now we're just getting cocky an example of such bridge building brilliance is the zhang jiajia glass bridge in the zhang jiajia province of china's hunan province engineers put four support pillars on the edges of the canyon in zhang jiajia national forest park then made a metal frame with around 120 glass panels these panels were made with three layers and were about two inches thick three long swings are also attached to the underside and there's an area that can be used for a 935 foot bungee jump if anyone's feeling mighty keen the bridge connects two cliffs and was the brainchild of israeli architect chaim dauton it opened in 2016 at a cost of 3.5 million dollars and can comfortably support around 800 people at once at any one time around 8 000 people can visit the reserve in which the bridge is located and it's surprising to believe that that many people do visit but when you know there's a glass pedestrian bridge there you're sure gonna want to get up close for a good look number two gps it used to be that the only way you could know where you are is by looking at a road sign or asking a local and if you wanted to find anywhere you had to ask someone who would offer you directions that you could never 100 rely on but then the military wanted a bit more accuracy and so global positioning system or gps as it's now known became a thing while it started off as a relatively conservative piece of technology like ground-based radio navigation during the 1940s it's something truly wonderful today and the best part we can all use it not just the military gps now consists of around 30 satellites orbiting the earth at about 12 500 miles it doesn't matter where you're positioned there are approximately four gps satellites that can transmit information about your position they can work out where you are based on the current time and how long it took for signals to arrive it's some pretty powerful stuff the next time you see an old paper map you would have had to unroll in the car thank your lucky stars that gps was invented so you don't have to rely on them anymore number one humanoid robots many people have jokingly said that one day robots are gonna take over the world with how realistic the humanoid robot now is could it only be a matter of time before they do i mean look at him hey i will destroy humans they have two arms two legs a torso a head and they're looking more lifelike by the day they are of course a human-made creation and a very good one but who knows they may just get a mind of their own someday they were first made for functional purposes such as assisting humans still there's always room for them to form their own opinions as technology becomes more advanced there's one in particular that's more advanced than most too and her name is sophia sophia is a combination of artistry science and engineering and is the creation of hanson robotics given her advanced features she'll be a robot that has us needing to watch our backs but in the meantime we can use them for procedures in hospital rooms for dental work and of course cleaning and cooking in our homes as you will now know humans are capable of some amazing creations if there's a problem you can guarantee there's gonna be a machine or creation to solve it can you think of some other man-made creations that have blown your mind also check out our other cool stuff showing up on screen right now see you next time
