- [Narrator] Many of us have often wished we could jet through the air when we're stuck in traffic or in a hurry. I'm Reacher, and today we're bringing you 15 of our favorite passenger drones and transports that will have you flying in class and living the dream. (slow, soft music) The Zeva Zero is a personal flier that transitions from hover mode to forward flight mode, with a cruising speed of around 100 miles per hour. It's planned to use an exclusive sky dock system that allows it to dock horizontally against the side of a building, instead of horizontal surfaces, avoiding elevators or ground transport for true point to point travel. - [Female Voice] Number 15. - [Narrator] In early 2018, Hoversurf unveiled Formula, a flying car built with 3D printing technology and modeled after the Venturi electric turbine. With four folding wings and a sleek build, the Formula eliminates the use of rotary engines and external propellers that have become popular with drones. The single seat design allows for it to take off and land in an area the size of a standard parking space. It has an estimated range of 186 miles and a flight time of 75 minutes, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. It's a safe assumption most people aren't going to be going that fast, so using it for short trips throughout the day seems the likely scenario in it's current form. - [Female Voice] Number 14. - [Narrator] Pop.Up Next is a hybrid air shuttle transport offering the flexibility of a ground vehicle with the freedom of a vertical air craft. Composed of a 3 part system, it utilizes a two passenger capsule that attaches to either a ground module, or an air module. The air module utilizes eight propellers to carry the capsule to and from its destination where it's then attached to a ground module and driven like a standard automobile. In the air it has an approximate range of 31 miles with a top speed of 93 miles per hour, while on the ground you're looking at a range of 81 miles with a top speed of 62 miles per hour. Having just come about in 2017, this one is currently in the prototype stages of flight testing. - [Female Voice] Number 13. - [Narrator] The Volante Vision is designed ideally with the hobby-est flyer in mind. Sporting a style reminiscent of a futuristic jet fighter, you can quickly get the feel of a real pilot in a cockpit, using the fly by wire flight controls. Utilizing a hydrogen fuel cell drive, providing power to 6 propellers, the craft can achieve a top speed of 410 miles per hour, a range of 1150 miles, and a flight ceiling of 5 and a half miles, which can be reached in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, no word has been given on when this one will see a working prototype. - [Female Voice] Number 12. - [Narrator] The City Airbus was designed as an efficient, electric powered air taxi system, with a chopper inspired styling. It has 4 batteries powering its 8 propellers, each with their own unique motor. The craft has an estimated flight time of 15 minutes and it's cruising speed is 75 miles per hour. Set to launch by 2023, it features a roomy interior that can carry up to four passengers and a pilot with plans underway to design a more compact, self-piloted air craft. - [Female Voice] Number 11. - [Narrator] First flown in 2018, the Lightening Strike is a military version hybrid electric aircraft, designed by Aurora Flight Sciences. The aircraft has a wingspan of 60 feet and measures just over 38 feet from nose to tail with its most notable features being the tilting wings and tail which contain a total of 24 ducted fans. All told as an expected cruising speed of 345 miles per hour with a load capacity just over 1600 pounds. Considering the autonomous nature and lack of a passenger cabin, it's a safe assumption this one is strictly being developed as a cargo carrier. - [Female Voice] Number 10. - [Narrator] The Ptero Dynamics Transwing is a truly groundbreaking innovation in the world of VTOL air crafts. Measuring 23 feet in length, this four passenger vehicle transitions from a rotor wing configuration during take off and landing, to a fixed wing configuration and forward flight. The design allows for easy storage when not in use as it's only 18 feet wide with the wings folded back. As of the making of this video, there's no final numbers on the speed profile, but the company says it's in line with traditional fixed wing aircraft. - [Female Voice] Number 9. - [Narrator] The Hot Flight Venturi offers a unique dynamic to efficient power usage and aircraft control and maintenance. Promising to become the leading mobility choice for trips under 200 miles, the 24 foot long craft utilizes wave like wings with eight channels and gurnards in combination with the distributed electrical compulsion to reduce its battery consumption while improving ride quality. The four seaters speed of 137 miles per hour and flight range of 115 miles are a testament to its proposition as one of the most efficient air craft for use over short distances. - [Female Voice] Number 8. - [Narrator] Designed by Jaxa Aerospace, the Hornese is a VTOL aircraft with a style close to a Formula 1 race car. Whilst still in demonstration mode, the company's goal is to develop a prototype that would eventually solve travel problems and mountainous terrains, especially in the company's homeland of Japan. It measures 7 and a half feet long with a wingspan of just over 6 feet. The configuration features four centrally located vertical fans in a square shape with an additional rotating fan at the end of each wing tip. Though initially planned as a single passenger air craft, the company is looking into the possibility of making a two seat version as well. - [Female Voice] Number 7. - [Narrator] The Wave is not just another EVTOL air craft, modeled as an amphibious sport air taxi, it has the capability to take off from both land and water. Built to be sleek, safe and dependable, its configurable as a six person taxi with a cargo transporter manned by a pilot. It features 8 fans with 2 on each end of the 4 wing tips. On take off, the back wing starts at a lower position, rising as the rotors spin, to its final fixed wing flight position. Although it's still in the design stages, the company claims it will have a top speed of 180 miles per hour with a range of 580 miles. - [Female Voice] Number 6. - [Narrator] Set for full scale air craft tests by march 2019, and expected sales by 2024, the Starling Jet is being touted as a cheaper, more efficient flight option for business and luxury travelers. With a 10 passenger capacity, a top speed of 460 miles per hour and a range of up to 1500 miles, it's a practical solution for regional and short haul flights. Powered by a gas, electric hybrid engine, with three jet engines fixed above the wing and tail, it promises to be eco-friendly and faster than a conventional plane, while offering the luxury of a private jet, all for about half the price. - [Female Voice] Number 5. - [Narrator] Promising yet another option for short distance urban flights, is the Aries One, a five passenger autonomous EVTOL air craft. Powered by a co-axle lift fan, and 8 articulating thrusters, the craft boasts a cruising speed of 175 miles per hour with a maximum range of 200 miles. Working towards a schedule prototype demo flight in 2020, and a commercial launch in 2025, it promises standard features such as a ballistic parachute, an anti-icing technology as well as accommodations for passengers who need wheelchair access. The company is also set to participate in ride sharing air taxi programs such as Uber Elevate. - [Female Voice] Number 4. - [Narrator] Featuring a blended wing body design, the Ray Civil VTOL air craft gives the impression of a hovering eagle in the sky. This design, though simple, helps minimize the amount of interference with oncoming air flow, allowing the air craft to fly faster with lesser noise and vibration. The passenger craft is powered by two turbine engines, producing 800 horsepower each to the six fans, two on each wing and two ducted fans mounted at the tail. It has an expected cruising speed of 224 miles per hour with a range just over 1100 miles. - [Female Voice] Number 3. - [Narrator] The Autonomous Flight Y6S is a two passenger electric powered air craft designed primarily as a short range air taxi which promises flights at prices comparable to that of train tickets. Scheduled for a prototype test in late 2019 and a projected commercial launch by 2023, it features 2 forward fixed wings, with 2 tilt propellors and a vertical propellor at the tail. With a top speed of 70 miles per hour, a range of 80 miles and a flight ceiling of 1500 feet, you can expect that the flight Y6S will communicate intercity for the most part. - [Female Voice] Number 2. - [Narrator] The Valerian is a futuristic VTOL air craft featuring specially shaped ducts which extend from either side of the air craft body and attached to two flapping wings that are driven by cams on a rotary shaft. There's several configurations possible with the basic design having it functioning like a flying bird. The flapping action of the wings causes air to flow up through the ducts, lifting the Valerian each time the system loses power. With a plan to launch in 2023, it's still undecided if the air craft will be powered by electric, gas, or a hybrid of both. - [Female Voice] Number 1. - [Narrator] Vimana plans to build its VTOL air craft based on the autonomous aerial vehicle network in a bid to access coordinated flight paths with other AAVs and help address urban traffic congestion. The four passenger prototype was unveiled featuring 8 propellors powered by an electric hybrid system, boasting a maximum cruise speed of 152 miles per hour, with a range of 600 miles. The estimated time line for the project to be in full swing as projected for July 2020.
