14 Years later! Recreating my first Skate Video

yo what is up guys johnny geiger here today's video is very special i remade my first skate video of 2007. it was so much fun i'm about to play the original version right now the only thing that i had to change was the music back then i listened a lot to punk rock and of course that stuff is copyrighted so i went to the youtube library and was looking for some punk rock tunes so let's have a look at my skill set after like two years of skating [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah a little more than one minute and i actually never uploaded that video like i would use the clips for odd project we can also see there were already some decent tricks in there like kick many or trail flips down mini gaps and of course the android that sketchy down rail that was not easy for me to commit to overcome my fear and skate it again after all these years i think it's been like 10 years since i skated a down so let's check out what we did there so the first spot is actually right in front of my house [Music] and believe it or not this latch right here like that thing this is the first latch i ever did a front board on who's dark the flight i'm talking about is right here it's actually pretty rough and we got kicked out a lot that it was just the best flag round we had i guess a lot of the very first basic tricks i learned right here [Music] so okay that was it i'm never ever gonna skate that flag round again like i'm actually so happy that i discovered a world of smooth black ground so much more difficult than rough flat like this let's go so we made it to another spot in my local town it is right in front of this beautiful church i just asked if a facility manager if he's cool with me jumping down that wall and he was fine with it so let's do it [Music] [Music] like that pop shout out it was first drive but the run-up is like so rough and it goes slightly uphill like it doesn't make a lot of sense to skate this but we didn't have much spots back in the day so this was one of the few opportunities to practice let's go for the kickflip and this time let's do like a horizontal one and not like not like the rocket version it did back then [Music] glad i survived that a lot of impact skating today a lot of impact skating today let's continue so this pilot right here is bringing back a lot of memories like that fans they adjusted this like five years ago back then this area was just free over there we have a very special bank like when you could ollie over that you wear a legit skater like a proof jack you're not a wannabe skater anymore i always used to hate that term what a beast gator i never used that at last we just gotta prove it one more time to get an ollie over that batch [Music] that just felt amazing so we gotta get my very first inward heel flip ever done right there look at my facial expression of disbelief i cannot believe the craziness that just happened beneath my feet that's what i felt when i did an inward heel foot for the first time [Music] that just felt so cool and we're gonna move on we're gonna do a kick flip to primo stall it's probably also the very first i've ever done i used to record these tricks already what a successful sunday morning i went here when i knew there were like no people here honestly guys i would love to indie grab that gap but they put this thing right here so it's not gonna happen unfortunately luckily i've been doing a lot of indie grabs back then and i got another spot what a beautiful 60. we're going to only integrate that and ultimately we're going to jump off this thing which is like almost shoulder high there you what do you think about this spot it's a really cool spot in front of the church yes we can jump down this and before i forget to mention like if you fall on this ground it is like so rough look at that that things move it up [Music] we got another few tricks first try yeah like in this downstairs so much fun swear let's go okay it is time to do some lines right now look at this awesome flat it's all i needed back in the days [Music] [Music] [Music] that was exhausting second try though [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] [Music] this park right here is probably the oldest park in the area it's around 20 years old when you look at the footage it looks kind of naked now there's like gravity and paintings all over scariest thing in that park is probably the downrail which is like the most dangerous thing for a person like me but today i'm gonna do it i'm finally gonna skate a down rail again scared scared to death first down rail i've skated in a billion years [Music] i'm kind of scared to commit right to the downrail part i'm gonna lock in on the flat part it's more difficult than to me it's less scary i hope that counts [Applause] [Music] it all happened so fast i was so scared i saw like life flashing for my eyes [Music] [Applause] wow i felt good i don't know why but for some reason i did that trick to fakie back in the days like it makes no sense at all that it's like so much more difficult we'll see how that goes [Applause] [Music] nice [Music] oh my gosh wow okay kick flip from here to here [Music] time has left its tracks on that bank see that we're trying not to get stuck at that that's our goal i've done that kick flip now we're gonna move on leave that latch we're supposed to lock in on a 50 right here go all the way down it's another thing that you don't see me it's another thing that you see me rarely doing these days uh skating that much gonna make that happen there's like a huge crack over there let's do a little [Music] okay first try [Music] all right we made it we almost got every single possible clip caveman into this huge downhill i'm gonna try to bend my knees like back then [Music] well here we are a few months later and i almost forgot about that spot there were like two big wheels on top but as you see they were removed for what reason ever now let's do like uh the first straight flip i've done in a while down a gap [Music] let's go okay now we'll get all the tricks took care of the irregular stash sorry for that like how can this actually happen i started my face like all day editing and i don't notice this for like months however we got all the clips we're gonna put them together and we're gonna compare them side by [Music] side [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] now with that ain't the cool thing i don't know what's a cool thing this actually turned out better than i expected it to be it was so much fun to work on this project it was so much fun to work on this project and revisit like all the old spots like most spots were terrible and i'm just glad we have better options today so thank you guys so much for
