your garden beds with loose soil and the plants will produce big garlic bulbs in about eight to nine months number four potatoes potatoes are very easy to grow when potatoes develop little eyes you can simply plant the whole potato in the ground dig up all in your garden bed and place the potatoes with eyes facing up cover the potatoes with soil and the plants will grow out of these videos and produce a lot more potatoes number five carrots take some store-bought carrots cut the top part of carrot by keeping about one inch of carrot plant the carrots facing down in the stem side up after lettuce with flat and down by digging a hole in the pot and completely covering the bottom part of lettuce with soil after two weeks lettuce will start to regrow so the lettuce is growing new leaves To summarize: ginger, green (what we Brits would call spring) onion, garlic, potatoes, carrots, lettuce, leeks, celery, Basil, mint, Rosemary, oregano, sage, thyme.

My father maintains that an uncle of ours who grew potatoes was rabid about not using shop bought potatoes as they could carry disease. I've grown some by accident (don't put whole potatoes in your compost folks) and they had a little rust but still perfectly edible. Lettuce I think you need closed headed lettuce like romaine. This is all just what I've heard so I'm open to correction by others.

From my experience, lettuce will bolt as soon as it starts regrowing.

Herbs are super awesome to start, because you take off most of the leaves, and definitely all the big ones, and stick in the ground. I also took off way more of the leaf matter than he did.
