Did you know there were quite a few easter eggs  in Queen of Tears that you might have missed? The   writers of the drama made sure to keep viewers  on their toes by adding some crazy details.   For instance did you know that Kim Ji Won's  outfits in the show are supposed to represent   her feelings? You might have noticed that as the  show progresses her outfits change a lot. Those   with an extreme eye for detail might have caught  on that each separate outfit represents Hae In's   emotions. Ji Won dished a little bit on this  aspect of the drama during an interview, saying:   "I thought a lot so that Hong Hae In 's elegant  and extravagant styling not only simply reflects   her wealth but also connects the character's  situation and emotions." Ji Won had her fair   share of influence on the outfits showing off  that she's pretty knowledgeable when it comes   to fashion as well. When Hae In is feeling calm  and at peace she mostly wears casual outfits with   her hair down and little to no makeup. However,  when she's feeling fierce and determined she   wears bold colors with a full face such as her  gorgeous revenge outfit in episode 7. At this   point in the drama Hae In discovers that Hyun Woo  wants a divorce so to reflect her anger she wears   a stunning bright red blazer dress. Throughout the  show we've seen that Ji Won loves to show off her   wealth through her clothes. But did you know that  in episode 9 she wore a fake designer hat? During   one of the scenes Hae In wears a baseball cap with  the word ELINE on top which netizens believe is a   counterfeit variant of the cap that luxury brand  CELINE sells. It's no secret that brand names are   often censored in K-Dramas due to copyright and  advertising issues. Yet, considering Ji Won wore   a lot of designer products in the drama including  items from CELINE, netizens were confused as to why   she would wear a knockoff version instead of  the authentic cap. Trying to come up with an   explanation for this confusing detail a fan wrote: "Was it a fake cap was her character trying to hide   her identity by wearing a fake cap?" Speaking of  clothing you might have noticed that at some point   Hae In wears a cardigan that looks almost identical  to a cardigan Kim SooHyun wore in his 2013 drama My   Love from the Star. Netizens caught on to this and  thought the coincidence was extremely amusing. They joked about the fact that Soo Hyun is truly a  thrifty person not only wearing the same clothes   for years but also keeping the cardigan for over  a decade to give it to his new on-screen wife. The   cardigan is now called the couple item of the two  making fans ship them even more than they already   did. This cardigan wasn't the only connection the  drama had to My Love from the Star. Another crazy   coincidence is that Na Young Hee who plays the role of Soo Hyun's mother-in-law in Queen of Tears also   played his mother-in-law in My Love from the Star.  They reunited again after a decade only to have   the exact same dynamic again. There was even a  hidden reference to Fight for My Way which was   one of Ji Won's hit dramas from 2017. This actually  happened in the very first episode during Soo Hyun's  drunken speech which was totally improvised by the  way. During his intoxicated rant Hyun Woo explains   how he only got married because he's cute. At some  point he says he was born like this which is very   obviously a direct reference to Ji Won's iconic  line "I was born pretty" in Fight for My Way. The   coincidences don't end there though because did  you know that Jeon Bae Soo who currently portrays   Ji Won's father-in-law actually played the role  of her father in Fight for My Way? The casting   team really made sure to somehow connect all the  actors to each other. There's more references to   other shows and even real life events that you  might have missed. Hyun Woo and Hae In's wedding   scene went viral because it was a carbon copy  of Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin's iconic wedding. They   played the globally loved couple in the hit drama  Crash Landing On You and the writers of Queen   of Tears drew a lot of inspiration from their  ceremony. Although this detail was hard to miss   it's even crazier to find out that the wedding  was filmed in the exact same location Ye Jin and   Hyun Bin got married they tied the knot at the  Aston house at the Grand Walker Hill Hotel in   Seoul which is renowned for hosting weddings of  the most influential people in South Korea. It's   a perfect fit for Hae In's character as a wealthy  chaebol princess in the drama. There's other small   references to the series; a friend of Hyun Woo points  out that the love between him and his wife is   very similar to the love of Ye Jin and Hyun Bin. Even  more exciting is that in the next episode Hae In's   mother is watching Crash Landing on You on TV. Fans  hoped that Ye Jin and Hyun Bin would make a cameo in the   drama. But unfortunately that didn't happen. Another  easter egg in the drama is that SooHyun recreates Bae   Suzy's famous flirting smile. Suzy went viral  for her charming smile in a 2023 episode of   Jo Hyuna's Thursday night. This way of smiling got  so popular that even Selena Gomez made an attempt   to replicate it. In episode four of Queen of Tears  Hyun Woo gifts Hae In a pair of white Roger Vivier   sneakers and flashes her Suzy's famous flirtatious  smile. This scene went viral among both Korean and   international fans. Soo Hyun and Suzy go way back  as they starred together in Dream High back in   2011. Some fans think that this was Soo Hyun's way of making a tribute to their time together. Now onto   even smaller details that barely anyone would be  able to catch. You might have noticed that several   different artworks are showcased throughout  the drama. Of course the million-dollar question   is whether any of these pieces have a certain  meaning that reveals something about the plot   of the show. Art expert Cho Sung In analyzed  the artworks and paid specific attention to   a painting in Hae In's room. She explained that this  particular painting isn't designed to be presented   as one piece but instead it's connected by several  panels. It shows how several objects that were once   concrete become blurred in the end only the traces  and impressions remain vivid in color. Connecting   this description to the drama Sung In said: "In the  drama Hong Hae In sometimes suffers from tumors in   her head making her vision occasionally blurry  and her memories dim. Seeing the painting in such   a situation makes one pay more attention." Adding  some color theory to the mix Sung In expressed   that it's likely the drama will have a happy  ending since the colors in the painting are   pretty bright and vivid. Explaining the importance  of this particular painting she said: "It's uncommon   to have many portraits or photos in a personal  bedroom. The production team seems to subtly tell   the story of how to present Hong Hae In through the  artwork. It seems to imply the story of the drama   by placing multiple portraits to show a person  with self-reflection self-love and a strong ego."   There's a possibility that the writers of the  show also hinted at the drama's finale long   before it was even close to ending. In episode 11  Hae In suffers from hallucinations but this time   around they're not gloomy and cold at all. In fact  hyen is standing amidst a stunning lavender field   enjoying the gentle sunlight. Lavender known  as the herb of love represents enduring and   faithful love which with understands any challenge . Lavender also happens to be hen's favorite flower   as she had previously taken photos in a lavender  field during her honeymoon in Germany. This detail   represents how Hae In shook off the negative  feelings she had after telling the truth about   her illness. Hinting at a more positive ending for  her which is completely in line with the finale   of the show. But then in the same episode the crew  decided to let Oh My Darling Clementine play in   the background of the devastating scene in which  Hae In's father learns about his daughter's illness.   This song happens to be about a father who  tragically loses his daughter which had fans   fearing that the song choice was a hint of Hae In's  fatal end. Although Hae In does end up passing away   it's rather bittersweet than devastating since  she did end up living a long and happy life. In   episode 11 the writer showcased a great way of  using small details to guide the audience when   Hae In mistakenly recognized Hyun Woo you know he's   naturally left-handed while Eun Sung is right-handed.  In the scene where she mixes up the two Hyun Woo uses   his right hand to put his arm around her shoulder  which is a genius way of letting viewers know it's   not actually him. During a happy moment between  Hyun Woo and Hae In earlier on in the episode she   asks him what's the left hand for it seems like an  innocent question but it's actually a subtle hint   to Hyun Woo to hug her. This moment also emphasizes to the audience that Hyun Woo is left-handed and   raises suspicion about the person who appeared  at the end of the episode suggesting it wasn't   actually him. It's no secret that the production  team paid a lot of attention to details when   creating the drama. Even when it came to making  the set as perfect as possible. When looking   inside Hyun Woo's house it might have caught your  attention that he has a lot of pictures laying   around including childhood photos of himself. Did you know that they actually used Soo Hyun's real   childhood pictures to create these props? When Kwak Dong Yeon was on set he noticed a frame with Hyun   Woo's childhood picture and asked Soo Hyun whether that was really a picture of his. To this he responded   with: "I think they edited by adding my face into  it. The picture has the vibe of my face but it's   not 100% real." This is yet another cool detail  that made the drama feel even more authentic.
