hey everyone we are back from Vietnam since three months and I've been making all our travel video from it in this one we will be telling you a few tips from our three weeks experience there we have a total of 11 tips for you which are whether renting a scooter driving a scooter other General tips for scooter SIM card and network money exchange and credit card grab and taxi transportation in Vietnam food drones and Visa so if you two are planning a trip to Vietnam this video might interest you about the weather let's start by saying that Vietnam is really long and as such F3 very distinct type of weather North Center and South the best time to visit the north which are Hanoi Sapa halong Bay and tamkok is autumn so from September to November if you want less rain and cool temperature the raining season being summer June to August the best time to visit the center hoyan is from February to April when the weather is dry and the temperature not too hot but for your information the dry season run until August the rest of the year is the wet season the best time to visit the South Ho Chi Minh City the melcom data of fucock is from December to April May to October being the wet season therefore February to April is the best time to visit Vietnam especially if you plan on visiting more than one region of it we visited Vietnam in April and while we first plan on doing all three parts we quickly gave up South to have more time in the north and Central of Vietnam we had an amazing weather in Central Vietnam however had a really mixed one in the North on top of all of that you can also consider that far north Safa and south of central like dala can have a bit of variation for the weather [Music] regarding scooter in Vietnam is by far one of the best mean of Transportation you can use it is cheap convenient and so easy most of accommodations are offering scooter renting or you can also use dedicated rental company if you go through your accommodation you won't need anything no need for passport driving license no International driving license if you use a renting company the only difference is that you will have to sign a little contract but that's it the average cost to rent an automatic scooter is 150 000 Dome per day and you always get two elements with the scooter and also you can store them in the seat for us the more we went toward the center the better the scooter in our last stop in hoiyan the scooter looked new and even at the phone holder which was so convenient when you get the scooter it's almost with an empty tank this is the way it works in Vietnam you get the tank empty and you give it back empty the only time with a scooter with a fuel tank was when we use the renting company in freeway and they asked us if we wanted it full so the first order of business is to refuel the scooter which is pretty easy you will find plenty of places to do so it can be from a big gas station or a small store on the side with small and big Butters filled with fuel or with a small fuel pump you always buy the fuel by editor you tell the shop how much you want and they will refuel the scooter But be sure to ask the price in advance depending on the scooter there are two locations for the fuel tank either in the seat or in between your feet when it comes to driving the scooter the first thing to know is that wearing a nail mat is mandatory even though we never got controlled by police it's always better for your own safety unlike most of Western countries you want to drive slow really slow especially in the main cities and you also want to follow locals that's one of the best advice we have for driving a different country always follow the locals and repeat what they do one thing we notice is that you really have to respect red light but if you see a countdown you could go a few seconds before it reaches zero in a real hoyan we saw that a lot another thing that we saw a lot is people driving on the opposite side so if you miss your turn don't be afraid to turn back and do a few matter on the wrong side of the road as long as you are on the far side and are slow it will be very safe last but not least always use your turning signal to warn people of Direction you will go and mostly focus on what is in front of you and not behind for the final tips about scooter if you notice that you cannot put your key in the ignition switch you just need to use the plastic key first to unlock the ignition sheet depending on your scooter to open the seat you have to align the ignition key with the lock sign and then press the button next to it on one scooter we got pretty confused with that and ask a person there to help us it was a bit embarrassing when it comes to parking you can park almost anywhere but you do have to pay a fee in parking near the main touristic site otherwise Street Parking On Pavement can be free another thing that you can see while parking is free signing from the restaurant of people telling you to park there for free that's not always the case because actually they let you park for free and then they expect that you buy something from their restaurant sometimes it's great sometimes not that great but sometimes it's simply work by buying a bottle of water the first thing they would recommend you to do when you arrive in Vietnam is to get a local SIM card this will help you a lot to navigate around especially if you plan on renting a scooter or using dollar caliber app Google Map works great there and you will need a 4G connection for that we'll check online about SIM cards and when we landed in Hanoi we tried getting a vehicle SIM card as it seems to be the best company in Vietnam but they only offered two weeks unlimited data as we were staying three weeks the only option was vimtel which seems to be the same as Vina phone they were the only company offering unlimited plan for one month and it cost 350 000 per SIM card which is around 15 Euro in the end we opted for that and it worked super fine everywhere we went and took five minutes to set it up at the airport when it comes to money exchange there isn't a simple answer we personally used cash exchange and cash his Royal from ATM when it comes to exchange cars there are a lot of places where you can do especially the two operator in almost every city as always you want to avoid doing it in the airport as they offer the worst rate ever in three weeks there the rate we got varied from 23 500 to 25 000 dong per Euro when it comes to withdraw money you need to know that you will always have to pay a withdrawal fee that fee depends on the bank the best option we found was agribank as you can withdraw up to 3 million Dong for a 22 000 dong fee it's mean that form approximately 125 Euro you have a one Euro fee when you pay with CB there is also always a fee as by law if I am correct you have to pay a fee that we so fluctuated from three to five percent of the total amount all of that is of course without taking into account the fee that you will have from your bank back home when it comes to taxi in Vietnam it can be a hustle as there isn't any rule that's why the best option to move around in taxi in Vietnam is using the application grab which is the local Uber it is easy to install on your phone easier to use and as an English interface what is amazing is that you know the price you will pay so we would recommend to check the price from grab and then try your local taxi or the transfer offer by your accommodation and when taking a taxi always ask the total price and do not use the matter for example the route from the airport to Hanoi we paid using the taxi meter 600 000 on the first time we arrive the next time we use grab it was 340 000 because it was 300 000 for grab plus 40 000 for the toll at that time we didn't know there was a toll fee otherwise we would have used a regular taxi and ask for three hundred thousand we also got the same price 300 000 from our accommodation after telling them that that was the price we wanted if not it would have been double only in Oregon we got to transfer cheaper from our accommodation than grab when it comes to Transportation there are many options in Vietnam that you can use like sure use one which are mostly 9 to 11 seed van and are generally quite comfortable even though they take the same time as buses you can also use them bus mostly sleeper bus for long distance those bus can either have a private cabin or not there are also viap buses for shorter distance by train the railway network of Vietnam isn't to develop but taking a Chinese fun there is also many options for the class first class second class sleeper class and so on by plane which is the best option to save time to travel longer distance and you can bring water with you on a local plane which is amazing globally all of the options are cheap compared to the fare in Europe we personally use luxurious one to go to Sapa a minibus to go to lunchable a VIP bus to go to tamkok a van to go to Hanoi a plane to go to rui and a train to go to hoyan or wear good and all were fun and or we are really really safe [Music] while traveling food is one of the most important thing our diet is mostly plant-based diet meaning that we do not eat meat fish or animals make but we do eat cheese and when we travel eggs as it is often one of the best options for breakfast but that wasn't a problem because Vietnam has lots of option and you always find a vegetarian or plant-based option afterward you're in Asia and lots of dishes are made with tofu and vegetables plus eating out is super cheap we normally cook all our meals when we travel in Europe but in Vietnam we didn't at all you can find good and cheap food almost everywhere plus supermarkets aren't too great so cooking yourself and the best one more thing Tina was pregnant while in Vietnam and fried food didn't go well for her as well as spicy food even black pepper was not going well and was too spicy so it wasn't always easy for her as a lot of plant-based options are either fried or with a lot of black pepper but you can ask around and they would adapt and in the end chimana did well one of the things I checked before going to Vietnam was about the Drone it's actually something I check every time we go out of Europe we know for example that it is forbidden in some country and that you can have your drone taken from you at the airport when it came to Vietnam it wasn't really clear if we could or not so we brought it and in the end it was really fine we could fly it everywhere we wanted and we never got any complaint in the contrary people were always curious about it and wanted to look at it and the final tip of this video is about Visa this won't be a general tip as it depends from which country you are from but we are from France and Serbia and we both needed the Visa cool thing it's super easy to make as it's a e-visa so you just make your application online pay a small fee and a few day later got your e-visa I even make a mistake in my application I haven't got an email from the authority to correct it which I did and all went fine just took copper models once in Vietnam we are asked about the Visa only once when we arrive in Hanoi if you two are planning a trip to Vietnam we made a little something to help you the Vietnam
