stand for the reading of the word we'll be coming from matthew the fifth chapter the series pastor is still ministering on is the pursuit of happiness will begin reading at the first verse and seeing the multitudes he went up on a mountain and when he was seated his disciples called to him then he opened his mouth and taught them saying blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted fifth verse says blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth father in the name of jesus we thank you today we thank you for the word of god coming from the man of god father we ask that we be hearers and doers of your word and father we will forever give you praise honor and glory that is due to you in jesus name we pray say it again [Music] [Music] oh me [Music] come on to give god praise for bringing us too far [Music] look at somebody say i can't turn around now i can't turn around now can't turn around now and come too far turn around now to godly all of the glory god bless you may be seated god bless you god bless you and thank you to the wonderful ushers ministry your brothers are released as well from your posts it's good for us to be here we're thankful to god for all of his many blessings towards us on today and every day he's truly brought us my mighty long way we thank him for it right now we are in as minister fletcher has said a series on the pursuit of happiness people are looking for happiness people are looking for happiness in many of the wrong places and they're surprised when things don't turn out like they won't but happiness is not in the things that people think they're in and if you don't know jesus you will never really find happiness jesus gives us a prescription for happiness in what we call the beatitudes sermon on the mountain there are a couple of things about the sermon on the mountain that i didn't tell you we're in the third attitude now but these attitudes are eight they're eight in number and they are character traits that identify all true followers of jesus christ they all go together they cannot be taken in isolation they are a bundle they come in a group you can't get it all a cart you have to get the whole group of them all eight of them come together my wife and i we don't have a costco card we don't have a bj's car ain't but two of us and when i go to the store to buy a can of tuna fish i only want a can of tuna i don't want 10 of them so when you go to places like that you are you have to buy in bulk you have to buy it all they don't break it up when i go i used to back in the day when t why them when they used to go to the little store they used to break up the little cartons of cigarettes amen you know it's against the law amen they posed to buy the whole pack but i couldn't afford the whole pack so they sell them individually and there sometimes people try to take religious principles individually well i can do that one but not that one and i can afford these two but not those ones but you can't do that with the attitudes the attitudes all come together they are not like the ten commandments now the ten commandments are a series of thou shall not but the beatitudes are thou shall the beatitudes are telling you what you should do how you should act and commandments are telling you what you shouldn't do uh how you shouldn't act jesus gives us these traits the the eight of them that's the first thing the second thing is that uh they are the keys to happiness they are them they will open up the door to enter happiness and then three they all come with a promise there's a blessing attached to all eight of them so the first one uh we dealt with was poor in spirit connected to that one was to be broken up over sin to the point that we mourn but the third one has to do with meekness one and two are inner qualities that no one really can see you can't really see when i'm broken in spirit you can't hardly tell it because i'm still smiling on the outside but i'm broken up on the inside and you can't really see sometimes when we sorrow for sin when i cry over my sins i don't cry publicly i find a closet someplace and i cry to god over my mistakes and over the sins of the world but meekness meekness can be exemplified we show meekness we demonstrate meekness when a person is meek others will know it by your demeanor is how you carry yourself how you carry yourself because the opposite of meekness is arrogance it's when people walk around with your little head all up in the sky and you speak to them and sometimes they just nod in that song when you speak to people and they nod at you wait a minute i spoke to you you throw your head up if you do that some people don't even speak when you're meek amen there are some characteristics about meekness that i'd like to point out in our lesson today meekness is not weakness hello somebody um what my man said yo yo sweetness is my weakness my but meekness is not weakness don't get it twisted in the greek the word meekness meek means power under control i could take you out if i wanted to don't get it twisted ah i forgot how to cuss i just choose not to amen i just choose not to i just choose not to i don't have to go there anymore there was a time in my life if you came for me then i then then i come back for you amen that was a time in my life i can get with you amen don't come for me i won't come for you but but but but but when meekness comes in is power under control it's like an animal that has been domesticated it's like a horse that has been broken you've seen the westerns when they corral a wild horse they put him in a stable and he's no good he's made up in his mind and none of y'all gonna ride me i don't care how many other horses have been written i ain't the one i'm not the one i'm not the one he has a wheel that says i will not be controlled oh but he feeds the right one the right one the right one that get a saddle on him and he's determined to break the wheel of the animal check this out though once the animal's wheel has been broken and he comes under the submission of the rider he is still just as fast as it was he is still as strong as it was he's strong enough and fast enough to steal outrun the horses that ran before him but now is power under control and somebody sitting next to you ought to be glad that god has caused you to be meek you don't know who you sitting next to you better be glad ain't it wow as i used to be uh you ought to pray for meekness amen somebody didn't make it to church last night they working on the meekness amen they got got to get power under troll well um the early service um i i said something and i said something that um went over some people's head i had to break it down i'm gonna see if i'm gonna have to break it down with you my publicist doesn't come to the early service and so she comes to this service and so when i say this you know you got she gets it she she takes it down because it's a little early for the early service so she comes to this service so i'm gonna say it again meekness is not thinking less of yourself it is thinking of yourself less you got to go down yeah because sometimes people think that they are being meek when they take the low road and consider themselves inferior to somebody or you couldn't consider yourself less than somebody in order to make them feel good about themself and so i feel bad about myself so you can be good about yourself when you call that week that's not weakness weakness is not making myself less but weakness is thinking less of myself it ain't all about me when you're weak when you're really meek you understand that god can use you to be a blessing to somebody else without it all being about you it ain't about you it's about him you got to give god the glory every time god does something to through you to help somebody else you can't be a peacock we we were in the grove on last night and uh it was some peacocks in the road and the peacocks were walking towards the car like they wanted me to move i ain't offended i ain't feeling to move out the road for no peacock you better take your little proud self and go on side the road this ain't about you people respect this car there are people that have peacock attitudes and they walk around like it's all about them i want to tell you in him we live move and have our beings [Applause] not about us all about jesus and so when you look at meekness there are three things i want to talk about meekness i want to talk about the plan of meekness and i want to talk about the process that gets you to to work the plan of meekness and then the promise is attached to meekness and you start talking about the plan of meekness you can't talk about meekness without talking about submission you can't talk about meekness without talking about submission in fact these these points for the plan really deals with submission i know i'm weak i know i'm meek because of this this plan deals with submission now submission is a bad word today many people don't like when you talk about submission because they see it as obedience they see it as a doormat for somebody to walk on when they see a submission as surrendering your rights they see it as as uh as being inferior but but that's not what submission is submission is is is not that in fact you're not going to be successful in life until you learn how to submit to somebody you you're going to have to submit to somebody in this life we as a people when we hear the word submission it causes apprehension because of slavery because of bondage and because of control the exertion of one's will over us causes us to cringe but can i make this plain to you today whenever someone exerts their will over you that's not submission say it again pastor back it up if anyone exerts their will over you to make you do something that's not submission you can't make people submit you can make people obey but you can't make them submit because submission is not just an action it's an attitude you go lord have mercy it's an attitude and this attitude has to come from god god has got to help us to submit cause true submission is this what makes a mission submission is the voluntary surrender of your will to the role of another it is the voluntary submission of your will to the role of others i have decided to allow you to operate in the role that you have that was my decision you ain't make me do it you didn't coerce me to do it you can't even manipulate me into doing it because i've been there seeing that i haven't seen too much in life to be manipulated by individuals that just trying to get me to do something so they can do something i ain't gonna do it if you don't do it if i don't do this you ain't gonna do that whatever you know what if you don't do it it don't mean it ain't gonna be done it just means you ain't gonna do it god says he is our source and you just the resource if i submit is voluntarily so he said so the first point under the plan is if we're going to be submissive and we're going to be meek here's the first point you have to submit yourself to the will of god to the will of god it's got to be his will not our will it's his will his his will and here's the scripture in matthew chapter 26 verse 39 jesus said in the garden of gethsemane when sweat ran down like great drops of blood when he's facing a cavalry's cross he says father if it be possible could you remove this bitter cup from me but then he come back and say nevertheless not my will but do your will be done when you submit yourself to his will it ain't what i want to do is what he wants me to do and sometimes god's will for us will lead us into uncomfortable situations sometimes god's will for us will be to bear crosses that we don't want to bear sometimes there can be no history of breast cancer in your family and then you have to bear the cross of breast cancer sometimes there are diseases and sicknesses that attack our bodies and we want to question god ask why me why me and god says why not you sometimes we feel picked out to be picked on but if you in the will of god is going to be all right preach pastor you've got to find a way to give god glory in the midst of your trials and tribulations maybe god wants somebody that's in the hospital to give their testimony to a nurse to a doctor to tell them i have another doctor his name is jesus [Applause] sometimes god closes the window and opens the door when things don't work out for us and jobs lay off and people do you dirty sometimes what they meant for evil god will turn that thing around for your good you got to say god some kind of way i know you're going to get glory out of this because romans 8 28 says and we know that all things are working together for the good of them that love the lord and are called according to his purpose if y'all say amen through the mass you would you lose your breath and uh something uh what is it is it is it the mass that won't let you say amen because you don't want to exert too much energy or you may get dizzy or what is it uh i don't know but all i know is you gotta say so wave your hand or something let me know you're out there not my will your will be done even if it's not what i want to happen is what he wants to happen we can't do things and then ask god to bless it we must go to god first and ask him what is your will for me don't accept another position without asking god's will don't accept a proposition to get married even though the biological clock is ticking ticking ticking ticking if that ain't who god got for you you got to keep on walking keep on walking keep on walking i only want what's god's will for me what god has for me it's for me my name on it he says he said first of all the first thing is we must submit to the will of god but then secondly we must submit to the word of god god's will is in his word we got to get back to the word of god in this day in which we live you got to get to the word i was at a chapel service uh here recently at one of our local funeral homes and somebody was on program to read a scripture and they have that scripture in their phone they had every other app in the phone they had no bible she was so embarrassed she tipped up to me and said can i use that book dale you got this i said yeah you could use this book then i had to find a scripture for amen i'm trying to say you got to study to show yourself approval unto god a workman that need not to be ashamed to rightly divide though i know this ain't the old day but back in the day we used to have bible drills to help us to learn where scriptures were in the bible they lined us up like a firing squad and called out scriptures for us to find it were no electronic devices and you couldn't have no tabs on the bible it just had to be the b.i.b.l.e oh and they gave a scripture in in malachi you couldn't start in genesis and start flipping you had to kind of know where what it did was it taught us what what was going on in the word of god ah we can't take the word of god out of our lives we must submit ourselves preach pastors the power is in the words songs that are sung about the word of powerful songs you can actually pray the scriptures and there's power in the scriptures i'm telling you when you're going through seasons of fear and anxiety and you pick up the 91st number of psalms and you start praying every verse lord hide me in the secret place of your tabernacle oh god i pray right now that those angels that you said will camp about me that keep me from dashing my feet i need them right now oh god i pray that you will be there for me when the arrows fly by there and the pillars by night you can pray the psalms [Music] jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of god we need the word you ought to keep you some word in your house you ought to get some scripture something you're not feeling but you're not feeling me you ought to get you some scriptures someplace in your house and put them up in your house and look at the word the devil can't fight the word of god it's in the world [Applause] lord let me let me move along here let me i get excited now talk about the word because everything is going down but the word of god say what you want but if you stand on the word of god the bible said heaven and earth shall fall away but my word will last forever [Applause] you want to be meek you have to stay in the word submit yourself to the will of god to the word of god but also you have this is the plan you have to submit yourself one to another that's what ephesians 5 21 says you have to submit yourself one to another in the church can't be all these titles it can't be all these positions it can't be all of these uh uh addendums that go to your name some of you have more degrees than a thermometer but i want to tell you when you come to the lord's house ain't no big eyes and little you to submit yourself to one another is to treat everybody with dignity and respect you don't matter you can be the custodian or you can be the principal when you come in here we are all god's children philippians 2 and 3 says do nothing from selfishness or through vain a conceit but with humility and with uh regard others as more important than you are the person ah that you're next to is just as important in god's sight as you are we are all valuable to god you are more valuable than i am and i am no valuable then you are yes we give honor to whom honor is due but don't get it twisted now we all are dust in his sight we must submit one to another that's the plan but i gotta hurry along and tell you that there is also a process how do you get that pastor you told us you got to be meek you you got to be humble because god resists the proud but he give grace to the humble you got to be meek you got to humble yourself in order to please the lord but how and can i grow in it can i get better at it if i'm not where i need to be right now how do i grow in meekness and so i ain't just preaching at you i'm trying to help you there's a way that you can grow in meekness you may not be it where you should be right now but you gotta start growing in that way in in the book of psalm 37 of verse 11 it talks about the meek inheriting the earth but in that same book in the 37th chapter of of the number of the book of psalms there are five things he says that will help you to grow towards meekness he says first of all trust in the lord you got to trust in the lord if you're ever going to be meek like he wants you to be you got to put your confidence in him some trust in horses some trust in chariots but i will trust in the name of the lord he said you got to trust in the lord and then he said that you have to then delight in the lord delight in the lord means that you got to be happy in jesus alone i want to tell you some of y'all even behind the mask i can tell you ain't smile too much in the service somebody said how you know with us i can tell sometimes when you frown you have a different little wrinkle in your face when you smile you light up i looked at you some of you i must be going through something really bad not to smile you ought to be glad to be in the number one more time and i don't care what's going on in your life i don't care what problems you brought with you if you can just get in the building if you can just get on the campus if you can just come into the gates of the city if you can just make your way in the lord's house that's a reason to give god the praise i want to tell you a drunk is happiness when he is in the bar a person that's committing immoral acts they are happy when they are surrounded by others committing an immoral acts but to a child of god we ought to delight ourselves in the lord you ought to be able to say king nobody do me like jesus can't nobody do me like the lord he said delight yourself in him and then he says commit your ways to him i've got to trust him i got to be happy and delight myself in him and then i got to commit my ways to him because we come to him with all kind of ways but it can't be my way it's got to be his way it can't be my way or the highway is his way or no way he said commit your ways to the lord but then fourth he says you've got to rest in him if you don't learn how to rest in him this world will drive you crazy if you don't learn how to calm yourself down and rest in him is there anybody here that knows he'll give you peace on the inside and the peace i'm talking about is not the absence of trouble it's a calm tranquility in the midst of a storm that says everything is gonna be all right it's like a little girl that was playing with a doll on a ship in the middle of a storm and somebody said little girl aren't you afraid she said no and they said why she said cause my daddy is the captain and he knows that i'm on board and if you know who the captain is of your vessel you ought to calm yourself down and say god is in control somebody said i've seen the lightning flash and i heard the thunder roll and i felt sin breakers dashing trying to conquer my soul but i heard the voice of jesus saint jackson still fight on cause i promise never to leave you never to leave you alone yes trust in him delight in him commit your ways to him rest in him but then wait on him he said wait on him wait on the lord and be of good courage and he shall [Music] strengthen your heart am i talking to somebody here that got in a hurry and got ahead of god what i want to tell you right now my grandmama valena jackson in desoto georgia never went to school never had an education but she told me this she said fonzo you can't hurry god you have to learn how to wait she said trust him and give him time no matter how long it takes she said he's a god that you just can't hurry but he'll be there you don't have to worry she said he may not come you know how it goes he may not come when you want him but he's right on time i told you three things didn't i the plan is to submit and the process i just gave it to you but the promise is they shall inherit the earth now the word shall is futuristic in the word sham means it gonna happen the word shall i gotta wait for it he told me to tell you there are some blessings that god has right now for the believers god he'll do that right now he'll bless you when you come in and when you go out right now the blessings of god can overtake you right now god's got some right now blessings am i right about it what the bible shall inherit the earth that tells me the blessing is yet to come is yet to come thank god for my house i got a decent house to live in but god has got imagine with my name on it he's going away to prepare me a place on the other side thank you jesus some glad morning when this life is over fly away to a home wow one from another but i want to tell you right now be meek walking meekness walk in meekness if you humble yourself god will god will god will exalt you [Music] if you humble yourself don't blow your own horn don't sound your own trumpet the bible said let another man praise you you walk humbly you walk meekness and watch how god make a way for you watch how god opens the right door for you where's daphne you don't need to catch every fish just the right one but one fish had that corn in the mouth just the one fish [Music] you walk humbly before god that's that one that got your name on it it ain't every door that's going to open for you it's the right door that god has for you um song says [Music] what god has for me and and isn't that what we want today come on really i don't want to covet somebody else's stuff [Music] i want what god has for me [Music] come on can you say that come on everybody all over the building what god has for me together and give god all the glory the honor and the praise i said everyone stand we're getting ready to depart so everyone stand that was the dynamic awesome teaching and preaching by pastor jackson amen come on come on amen amen it was just it was just awesome the plan the process and the promise it reminds me when the lord jesus christ said i am the way the truth and the life no man come unto the father but by me and so that fit perfectly with what he just preached there there there is a plan and there's a process and there's a way that's why he said i am the way that's the plan i am the truth that the process but the promise is eternal life amen so amen amen so if you are with us this morning and you have heard that anointed dynamic wonderful moving shaking sermon the pursuit of happiness there's a pursuit happiness just does not come it is something that you have to pursue you can get happiness from the world but it doesn't last long but there's a happiness that comes from up above which is a gift and when you receive that gift you will never lose that happiness amen so if you are standing with us as we're getting ready to part and you don't know the lord jesus christ as your lord and your savior what a wonderful time to give your heart to him what a wonderful time to come out of the world what a wonderful time to come out of darkness what a wonderful time to come into the marvelous life this is a divine moment right now that you can confess with your mouth that jesus christ is lord and that you can believe in your heart that god has raised them from the dead and when you do that you are on the process of walking in a new life and you have the gift of salvation which will allow you to come into the doors when he opened up his doors in his gates in heaven and let you in he would say well done good and faithful servant do we have one before we get ready to depart do we have one before we walk out the door don't say to yourself i will wait till tomorrow tomorrow doesn't belong to you tomorrow belongs to the creator the moment you have is now it's not promised that you and i will awaken in the morning it's not promised it is not promised but if you don't wake in the morning and you accept jesus christ as your lord and your savior today you will wake up it just won't be on be on this side it would be on the other side amen do we have one [Music] young or old it doesn't matter male or female do we have one come on put your hand together give god all the glory to honor in the praise before we depart we act that you do this to my left which is your right the others are gonna have baskets and to my right uh uh which is your love they're gonna be basket at the doors on your way out we ask that you will continue to be a blessing to the church and we have done our awesome and wonderful job in the midst of covet and the covert 19 that we have really been a blessing to the church so we that we act that you continue to give and give faithfully and give with a smile and to know that when you give unto god god will absolutely give back to you now i've been addiction now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us unto him be glory in the church by christ jesus throughout all ages worlds with our end go forth have a beautiful
