I was gonna say, why not just buy a new one... then I looked at prices of solid wood exterior doors.
The one thing that bothers me is that the mail slot is almost comically low to the ground.
Is that doorknob in the middle of the door?!
That was a very therapeutic watch.
TL;DR Thread.
This is a custom (bigger than usual) door.
These solid custom exterior doors typically run $2-5k.
The repair like this typically cost under $2k.
They left the mail slot so low because they wanna test mailman's daily flexibility
didn't expect bondo and caulking to be part of antique door restoration.
Why didn't you remove the hardware before painting the door?
I was in a very old shop lately and asked the shop keeper about a wooden beam that was overhead, I was curious as it has a prop under it. He said it was hundreds of years old. Then he told me to look at the repair that has been done to the bottom of the front door. The repair was done over a hundred years ago.
That was thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Thanks
