I loved this.. I was only a youngster in the 80s (I'm a 90s kid) but this had me baltering in my best silk bomber jacket, nkob jeans and neon wristbands with my Yamaha keyboard on preset!

this video has been sponsored by skillshare today we're looking at 100 songs 80s kids like me grew up with it's gonna be tubular radical bodacious gnarly let's get started how futuristic 1999 [Music] that's such a good song so if you haven't noticed already one thing you gotta keep in mind is reverb you gotta have reverb on everything in the 80s nowadays it's more like you have reverb on one or two things just make it stand out no nothing stands out in 80s music you need reverb on everything listen to this not enough reverb now we're talking more delay [Music] now we're in 80s territory i need to turn this off oh yeah this one was ruined by the freaking frog [Music] my favorite 80s songs are the ones where it sounds like they're in the back of a cave and you're like kind of outside and you just hear the reflections you're not sure if there's music or if someone just dropped a bunch of rocks in there [Music] oh sick [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh yeah euro past another song apart from the obvious one [Music] that is my favorite song never heard it before but you know i like that [Music] this would be great for live performances do you like my synth by the way it's brand new it's a jupiter x you can do things like this literally an 80 cent i love it oh yeah we talked about this in the [Music] video [Music] there's so many versions of that song [Music] very cool [Music] what does that mean oh it's a bomb plane [Music] i wanna be with you everyone [Music] so full disclosure i was born in the 80s did not grow up in the 80s i don't know half of these songs but that's fun to hear another wham song i only hear wake me up before you go go that was really good as well freaking george michael right awesome singer i'm gonna swallow my tears [Music] that snare is a perfect 80 snare could be more reverb but you know there's enough on there [Music] [Applause] [Music] that's a great song the 80s were so great musically i think we've come a lot further when it comes to just fidelity and mixing and stuff like that but a lot of the songwriting is so interesting there's of course a lot of amazing music right now that's interesting but in the mainstream there was more interesting stuff going on in the 80s i would say by the way welcome back to another daily video my name is joel for roomie official the year is 1984 and there's no memes no memes existed in 1984 so we can't do that okay let's continue by the way this video is on the some random guy youtube channel big upshot compiling this must have been so much work well done check out his channel amazing singers too [Music] this is such a banger that's amazing i love how there's so much soft focus you can't even see their faces you're not gonna become a celebrity for making a music video like this because you're like oh is this skin or is his eye right here he could literally not have any eyes and it's just like a little bit of makeup or dirt or something [Music] oh classic [Music] he used to be invisible yeah maybe if i try to sing through my nose more he used to be no that's what that means to phil collins sorry phil namaste so phil collins of course went on to do a lot of solo stuff he did tarzan which is an amazing soundtrack a lot of other great music but dang he used to scream in genesis and it was amazing people used to say back in the day that i had a similar voice to him i don't know if that's true maybe they were just trying to be nice to me [Music] [Applause] [Music] wait didn't no doubt make a cover of that i've never thought of that as a cover yeah we definitely talked about that in the video though which makes it even more embarrassing i just forget [Applause] [Music] is it the everything type of scent i have this is in new versions it's not exactly that that must be the most iconic synth riff in the 80s pretty much is it oberheim obxa i think i might have that maybe no no way dagger it's not even the same they just sound now i'm about to sing about today's sponsorship [Music] excuses packed with premium classes no one's lunch can turn you asleep [Music] build a system that brings i've been taking this class it's helped me tremendously thomas frank has taught me to skillshare for sponsoring this video [Music] oh mr mister what event [Music] oh rock said swedish band [Music] that one has been forgotten have you heard about the little red corvette by prince oh this is so catchy [Applause] [Music] that is so catchy in the worst way listen to those vocal dubs on marie magdalena it's so pitchy it's in the worst way it's just stings the ears [Music] of course as i always say it's misrepresenting to look at some of the best songs from 10 years and then compared to like oh what came out in 2021 but dang there's a lot of good 80s songs i have to say are there more good 80s songs than 90 songs there's more interesting 80s songs than interesting 90s songs i would say just songwriting-wise [Music] there's still more jazzy stuff going on in the mainstream [Music] singer and journey so underappreciated that tone [Music] patience forget about the words on your mind [Music] man always that tone is just unbelievable for you how high is that the high note is a high c sharp i don't think we need houston had the biggest range of anyone she just had like the best tone and amazing delivery high c sharp like that is still high but it's not you know crazy [Music] so many of these songs i just want to keep listening to you but every clip in this video is super short [Music] so this wasn't 80s for some reason i always think of michael jackson as 90s yeah 1988. [Music] i always thought that was michael jackson actually somebody's watching me it's the same vibe like it's mysterious and the vocals are very similar [Music] oh what a cool theme for a song oh is that serious i wear my sunglasses at night so i can so i can watch you weave then breathe your story lines i can keep track of the visions in my eyes while she's deceiving me i love it i love it it's so [Music] cringy [Music] dang roxette were actually big i thought that they were mainly big in sweden but it seems like they were big internationally as well so the guy in that band actually had a big swedish band as well and he's still a big swedish songwriter even though not as relevant in the mainstream as boys in the 80s with roxas [Music] [Music] i love you luis and the news they're considered really cringy but they have this one amazing i mean this one is in back to the future they also have stuck with you which is a really good song and uh yeah there's just a bunch of them his voice is so deliciously raspy listen to that ah michael jackson's just in a league of zone isn't he [Music] what was that supposed to be suggestive kind of like just delivering just a bowling ball out of her um uterus yes ricky boy always that's the same dance doesn't matter i love him this really sounds like a crow here she's croaking [Music] oh this is sick in a video the other day i came to the conclusion that a lot of collabs between famous artists are kind of forgotten but this one is well remembered queen and everybody under pressure there's so many collabs that just can disintegrate for example rihanna has been a feature with so many big artists but when you think of rihanna you never think of those you always think of her own songs which is interesting also iconic said sound or i guess that might be an organ [Music] there's so many cringy rock songs from the 80s and stuff where they just sing about rock and roll no one's singing like that about trap music nowadays like oh i'm gonna make some trap gonna rap on trap beat maybe there are like dubstep songs that's singing about dubstep hey up there yeah let's do the dubstep i love dubstep sick voice is who's that trick based on that madonna song he must be yeah david guetta and rihanna yeah madonna is listed as a songwriter on it the song uses the sample of madonna's 1987 single who's that girl [Music] hey he's wearing a green screen it's such a weird song i love it how did that become a hit though that's so interesting to think about what are those lyrics about the lyrics can be interpreted as describing a man experiencing a mid-life crisis where's my wife and family what if i die here who'll be my role model apparently just about paul simon's own life [Applause] cringy boy bands you can find them in any era [Music] it's funny a friend of mine always said this i don't know if this is edgy to say it wasn't me you said it originally basically said that like there are two people there's like one super white guy and one guy that looks like a little bit mixed whatever you would think listening to the album that is this guy that has to be like really you know meaty voice but it's this guy who sings just you make like super awesome voice so awesome what a voice look so creepy it looks like jim carrey trying to look creepy in the movie [Music] uh the 80s was a weird time okay guys good care for more music coming to our videos okay for music vs videos and i will see you tomorrow in another daily video have a very 80s day and an 80s life and an 80s wedgie here you go that was you you got a wedgie you've been bullied today you deserve something to pick yourself up a snack go get a snack okay i'll see you tomorrow bye
