some of the alltime greats the first moment takes place in leic Texas on October 22nd 2016 mahomes's Texas Tech Red Raiders welcomes 16th ranked Oklahoma into Jones TNT stadium for what would turn out to be one of the best Showcases of football offensively you will have ever seen Mahomes and Baker Mayfield who would go on to be the future first overall pick both put up numbers you'd struggle to momes have one of the all-time great NFL seasons throwing 50 touchdowns for over 5,000 yards and cruising to an MVP over another all-time great in Drew Brees in this season he threw for at least four greatness can be explained by numbers touchdowns yards passer rating all the stats that tell you that he's one of the greats of today and indeed of all time but so much of what makes momes so obviously great is plays like this one against Denver in week 14 in 2022 KC was up 6 to zero in the second quarter it's third and two and momes is scrambling towards the sideline one of the ultimate this run began with a solid if unspectacular win against the surprise package Jacksonville Jaguars with in the championship game yet again we saw another second straight matchup with one of his emerging Rivals and Joe burrow and this would prove to be another tight one with plenty of pressure to gain revenge on the Bengals momes was cool in this one dicing up Cincinnati's defense with 326 yards on the day and a passer rating of 105.4 and courtesy of a last second field goal the Chiefs were off to the Super Bowl again this time against the Philadelphia Eagles and in the Super Bowl momes would then go on to throw for three more touchdowns in another close battle with another emerging star in Jaylen Herz But ultimately his best play was on the ground on the game-winning Drive despite clearly struggling with an ankle issue earlier in the game he took off for a 26-yard run into D Philadelphia territory showcasing another side to his game heart in sheer will to win and soon after playoff game of mahomes's career and while early in his career he was held back by poor defenses that was not the case in 2023 with Steve spagnolo's unit ranking second in the league now was Mahomes at his previous MVP standards this season no possibly due to the flawed receiver corpse he had at his disposal regardless though the Chiefs marched into the playoffs and after putting away Miami in one of the coldest games in league history it was time for another playoff game against Buffalo and even when it was his first playoff game away from home the bills couldn't get it done momes was just now one of those the Baltimore Ravens and despite being 4 and a half Point underdogs the Chiefs pulled out a gutsy win on the road going to the Super Bowl again Patrick Mahomes and these Chiefs are just inevitable these days he's not history
