10 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE VISITING CHICAGO

Chicago is one of the most visited cities in the US with fun attractions incredible architecture beautiful parks and some of the best food in the country but what should you know before visiting Chicago this is Katie from creative Travel Guide and today we are sharing 10 things to know before you go to Chicago looking for more travel tips make sure you hit subscribe and ring that notification bell also let us know in the comments below if there is a certain destination you would like us to cover [Music] the first thing to know before you visit Chicago is to use the public transport the trains and buses take you everywhere so carry a Chicago Transit Authority map or download the transit app and use this to get around this includes getting the train to and from both airports while planning your trip you are going to want to work out the best time to visit our best tip is to avoid the winter visit in Chicago in the winter can be magical especially if you visit over the Christmas period however the weather is bitterly cold so it is best to avoid visiting from October through to me if you can't avoid visiting in the winter make sure you take advantage of the pedway and network of tunnels underground which connects hotels stores skyscrapers and train stations across 40 blocks in the downtown area my next tip is to pack layers even when visiting in the middle of the summer Chicago is prone to strong winds and cold chills the eastern side of Chicago often experiences temperature dips because of its location next to Lake Michigan so pack layers now my fifth tip is to stay local there are plenty of chain hotels in Chicago but the best hotels are the local boutiques we love renting an Airbnb in Little Italy or staying in a local hotel in downtown Chicago yes Chicago is the home of the deep-dish pizza and if you are anything like us you will want to try several different pizza spots around the city Gino's East is our favorite make sure you also try the Italian beef sandwiches at Al's restaurant in Little Italy try a Chicago style hot dog eat some tamales and indulge in some fried chicken we love the spicy chicken options at the footlong restaurant and Chicago's home of chicken and waffles is a top pick my next tip is to also save room for dessert yes food gets two spots on these Travel Tips after trying some of the best food in the city make sure you leave some room for the best desserts try the buttermilk donuts at do right donut and chocoholics need to head to the fudge Pot my eighth tip is to take in the Blues Chicago is known for the Blues thanks to musicians like Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon spend at least one night at one of the Blues institutions around the city Green Mill in Uptown Kingston mines in Lincoln Park or booty guys legends are all great places to visit if you are visiting in season make sure to catch a baseball game at Wrigley Field an iconic stadium known for its Ivy covered outfield walls [Music] and my last tip is to take advantage of the free things to do in the city vacations can be expensive but with so many cheap and free things to do in Chicago you don't have to spend a fortune walk along the Chicago River Walk explore millennium and Grant Park visit the smart Museum of Art have fun in the Lincoln Park Zoo and see the Garfield Park Conservatory we hope you have an incredible time in Chicago what are you most looking forward to let us know in the comments below thank you so much for watching this video all the way to the end make sure you hit subscribe if you are looking for more travel tips it really helped this channel to grow so we can share more tips with you take care guys and until next time stay creative [Music]
