[Music] hi everyone welcome back to our channel my name is nas and i'm alba and today we are in cancun mexico if you are coming to cancun you will definitely have on your list to go visit chichen itza one of the seven wonders of the world in this video we not only want to share our experience with you but we also want to give you all the information you need before you visit chichen itza so that you don't have a bad experience here's 10 things that they don't tell you about the chichen itza tour number one you don't have to take a tour to visit chichen itza you have two options you can either go by yourself by renting a car and buying the ticket individually or you can take a tour which is what most people do to go to chichen itza by yourself it takes about three hours from cancun so if you are staying in the cancun area just keep in mind that it's far yeah plus if you add up the gas if you add up the ticket in itself if you add up the lunch it ends up being pretty pricey which takes us to our second point number two taking a tour can be cost effective the reason for that is because the entry by itself is only about twenty six dollars and then you have to add up all the costs that nas just mentioned whilst on the other hand you can find a tour uh that includes everything for about between forty dollars to seventy dollars per person per person number three different price points can mean different quality of service you can find a tour for as little as 40 but that might mean that you need to pay additional fees throughout the day it might not include food you might go in a really very small band crunk with people no air conditioning fun she meant fun by the way we were lucky we were lucky because we went on an air-conditioned bus and it was a good size and we had a tour guide and everything so yeah we'll explain later why that actually is very important point number four um you can negotiate the price so when we when we entered they they tried to sell this store for about five hundred pesos which is what seventy seventy seventy three dollars but we negotiated it down to sixty dollars some people we noticed that some people on the same tour as us had paid a little bit more five dollars more ten dollars more it's not it's not a huge difference but it's just something to have in mind the price will always be negotiable irrespective of the agency you've booked with number five the tours do include additional experiences so if this is not something that you want to do on your visit to chichen itza then you might want to reconsider taking a tour in this case we visited the city of valladolid and a cenote yes valladolid was very small very cute we only visited the main church which has a very interesting story uh and on the outside it's beautiful in the park on the outside it's also beautiful but on the inside it was a little underwhelming um plus they only give you 20 minutes they only give you 20 minutes to be there however the cenote completely different experience but we'll talk about that in a few points down the line point number six the tour is long and when we say long we've been long it's it's at least 12 hours at the very least it's 12 hours long so we left the hotel at about 70 in the morning and we came back at nine at night so it was almost it was almost 14 hours and that's that's why it's so important to choose a service or choose a company and that provides you the level of comfort that you'll need you'll spend a lot of time on a bus it's going to be almost 300 kilometers 250 kilometers to chichen itza and 250 back with all this with all the stops that you'll do in between so yeah make sure you choose a comfortable option number seven the nother cargo is beautiful it's an open cenote so it gets a lot of natural light before you go down you have to take a quick shower and then descend 91 stairs to reach the swimming area this cenote is 40 meters deep so you don't see much underneath it's a really unique experience [Music] something they will tell you in the tour is that uh renting a life vest to go into the the nautica is compulsory and the cost of that is only 50 pesos per person which how much is that it's little it's like 2 2 3 2 3 and you might also want to rent a locker to leave all your belongings before going down into the cenote which is another additional 50 pesos eight getting a tour guide in chichen itza is worth it with the paid tours most likely it's going to include a tour guide when you arrive to chichen itza that will explain you the history of it ours included one but it was optional whether you wanted to go with tour guide or you wanted to go explore the whole site by yourself we were the only ones in our tour we decided to go with the guides it was like a private tour and it was incredible because the site of chichen itza has a lot of mayan history really ancient history as well that only a local really can explain to you so it's totally worth it it's not the same as looking up the history in advance online because we did that and it was definitely not the same the things that he showed us were insane oh my god if you enter the sites the only thing you'll see is the main temple but otherwise you'll be walking around just looking at rocks you won't understand the history or the importance behind those constructions having a guide really helped us understand the history of the mayans and understand what each of those buildings meant and how they looked like in the past plus getting a guide and giving him a tip after is also supporting the local community there you know support the locals yeah point number nine using a good camera has a price if you want to enter the size of the site of chichen itza and take a good camera like a gopro i think a gopro too but a camera that we're using to make this this video it costs you about 45 pesos you can take pictures with your phone and make videos with your phone that's absolutely fine but if you want to take a camera they will charge you i think it's about 45 pesos so two to three dollars as well number 10 be prepared to say no if you do take a tour they will try to sell you stuff every five minutes uh so either be prepared to say no or to spend a lot of additional money on top of what you already paid for the tour yeah so right from the moment where we entered they tried to make us upgrade our package for about 18 just to get free drinks on the bus we didn't really want those drinks we would rather spend the money somewhere else so we decided to to say no but then they tried to sell as a mayan calendar throughout the tour they tried to sell us a mayan drink they tried to sell us stones mine stones this all of it part of the tour the tour guide yeah so bring people on the bus and try to sell you things and among many other things so yeah so be aware that they do try to skim the milk on that one that's it for the video hopefully you guys enjoyed it and it provided a lot of useful
