five bulbs Canadian prepper here so today we're going to talk about ten different items that you will never regret purchasing because we're gonna last you damn near forever they serve a variety of survival and preparedness needs so let's get to it now although the items on this list would be classed as survival or emergency preparedness oriented they are all very multifunctional and due to their long-lasting nature they're gonna serve you in a variety of everyday or recreational tasks although my list of ten items today focuses on the fundamentals there is still a place for overly technical Sutan to be obsolete gimmicky gear although a lot of that gear may be unnecessary it still makes for a more comfortable experience in the outdoors and can certainly enhance your capabilities in many respects however as preparedness becomes more mainstream many companies are making a killing compiling tacky low-quality components into pre-made bug-out kits which are only meant to be single-use in my personal opinion it's much better to invest in something that you're gonna have for a lifetime that you're gonna actually use and not just store in a closet so let's get to it alright up first is titan survivor cord xt most people are familiar with survivor cord it's been around for several years well this is an upgrade from that the original survivor cord was your usual 550 paracord and it had many different strands of fishing line wax jute tinder as well as brass wire for making snares this new survival cord xt meets every military specification you can imagine it's comprised of military-style type for 750 paracord which has a tensile strength of up to 1,000 pounds now within the paracord you have 12 ultraviolet resistant and mold resistant strands plus you have a 110-pound Kevlar utility line which is friction resistant fire resistant and can serve a variety of functions in a survival situation you also have wax jute tinder for making fires and in the old survivor cord they had a simple monofilament fishing line this one actually has a braided fishing line which is 25 pound test which can be used to catch those species of fish with sharp teeth that are gonna bite through the monofilament this braided fishing line also works great to make professional-grade bowstrings this is a brand new product it retails for $34.99 a canadian preparedness comm get some while it's in stock because it's not gonna last up next is a Leatherman multi-tool it really doesn't matter which Leatherman multi-tool you choose Leatherman just make some of the most incredibly durable and useful multi tools on the market I recently traded in my Leatherman rebar for the new free p4 series this is the future of multi tools right here it has a magnetic lock everything is meant to be single hand use so all of the tools are one-handed access including the pliers the only thing I don't like about it is the lack of nerding texture which makes it a little bit slippery but in terms of the build quality it's second to none buying a Leatherman multi-tool will be the most remorse free purchase that you ever make in your life up next is the fire box folding stove most people including myself when you see the fire box stove being demonstrated pitchers just don't do justice to how heavy and durable this thing actually is this little 5 by 7 point 5 inch stove which is only a centimeter thick weighs 2 pounds and while that might seem like a lot to backpack you'll only have to buy one because it's gonna last you damn near forever the fire box was engineered by a guy who spends all his time in the wilderness and there's so many different innovative and clever accessories this is really the only outdoor kitchen you're ever gonna need now it's not nearly as fast as a gas stove so you're not gonna have the convenience but it's going to last forever and it doesn't require that you carry any fuel it allows very high efficiency burning of natural fuels you'll find laying around in nature everywhere and the difference between the fire box and many other models like this is that it's all one piece that folds out instantly many stoves like this have different linchpins that you have to put into place that you always inevitably lose that's not the case with this one go pick up a fire box stove you won't now up next is the SAS survival or the SAS recon tactical boats these are made by a company called survival archery systems they're built to last damn near forever and to be very easy to set up in the field much easier than a traditional takedown recurve bow however you're going to achieve speeds of up to 200 feet per second more than enough to take the medium to large game that North America has to offer at a close enough range the limbs are made of an exceptionally durable composite material and the riser and limb holding brackets are made of an aerospace grade t6 aluminum there are numerous other features of the hardware that I'm not going to go into great detail up here but you can go and check out my other videos on the SAS bow if you want more information this is a bow which will last you a lifetime up next is the Septor military-grade lightweight fuel cans these fuel cans are standard issue for US and Canadian Armed Forces they're made from a highly ruggedized high-density polyethylene material which makes for a lightweight fuel transport system which is virtually indestructible it has solid impact resistance and it withstands any extreme weather condition that you can throw at it they're also far safer than the metal jerry cans because if these were to be in the presence of an open flame they would melt as opposed to explode so they're lighter they're more durable and they're safer now up next is nothing special really it's just a wool blanket a plain old 90 to 100% wool blanket high-tech fancy sleeping bags that are ultralight with the goose down and all the trimmings are a fantastic luxury to have in the wilderness but if I was put in a situation where I could only take one sleeping item it would definitely be a good old-fashioned wool blanket wool has fire retardant properties it's going to retain heat even when it's wet it's incredibly durable there mildew resistant and if you get one that's 90% it's a bit more comfortable than the 100% ones that are gonna have that scratchy feel a wool blanket isn't just a blanket it can be used as a cloak or numerous other types of clothing now up next is a single walled stainless steel canteen now the ones that we retail at Canadian Preparedness comm are the Nalgene brand but there's many different other types of brands on the market there's clean canteens I know the Pathfinder store sells some and they're all moderately priced between 25 to $50 USD for a multi-use bottle that you can actually put directly on to a fire and that's gonna last you forever that's a great deal the great thing about the now jeans is that they do come with a lifetime warranty now I own a lot of backpacks van Quest makes excellent packs I've also owned some great 511 backpacks and I've even owned some great Osprey backpacks but in my personal opinion the most durable backpack I have is one that I probably never use and that is the Alice pack Alice stands for all-purpose lightweight individual carrying equipment now the classic Alice rucksack which is what I have is something that you can find at any military surplus store and although there's not a lot of fancy features and Molly webbing and stuff like that you can just tell that if there was one pack that was gonna survive Armageddon it's gonna be the Alice pack it has an external frame so if you had to say remove the pack to haul some game or haul some other large items or haul some water you could do that not even close to the most comfortable or technical but it's gonna last you forever so go get one just in case up next is the silky nada now all silky saws come with a limited lifetime warranty but the NADA is something which you know you may get a chip on it down the road but overall it's a big hunk of steel which is not gonna let you down and I prefer it for a variety of reasons over normal hatchets it's just a full tang Japanese not a style hatchet which is built with sk4 high carbon steel and it's built to just hack away at stuff it does come with a high density plastic carrying case but if you can get a custom made leather sheath that would complement its longevity very well now last but certainly not least is the five joy survival shovel out of all the products I've reviewed on this channel this is the one that surprised me the most I thought it was gonna be another cheap piece of junk that was sent over in a sea-can boy was I wrong some of you might remember the old Coleman trenching tool which you know yeah you put it under just a little bit of pressure and the thing would break or bend these things are virtually indestructible yes the multi-tool component might not be that useful to you you know there's a lot of cheap survival implements within it like cheap little saw and a pharisee Arad and stuff like that and a tube that you can put stuff in and has an anodized aluminum handle which is very sturdy but what's innovative about it is the four stage locking system where the shaft of the shovel meets the head it may even have some limited self-defense utility so these ten items these are ten things that you're gonna buy once you're gonna cry once for some of them not all because many of the things on this list are very well priced but they're going to last you a lifetime but what I'm really curious to know is that if you have any suggestions for different pieces of gear which are built to last damn near forever let me
