[Music] even before it chapter to hit theaters horror fans were already wondering if there was going to be a third movie in the franchise if you haven't seen the first two you might want to hold off until you do because there will be spoilers ahead both Pennywise actor bill skarsgård and director andy machete have spoken about the possibility that we haven't seen the last of penny wise the dancing clown and we're talking about chapter three here not just in our own personal nightmares let's take a look at why a third movie is a very real possibility and why it's not as crazy as it sounds world-building there are many things author Stephen King is good at like building suspense creating compelling characters and capturing the horror of the human experience but one thing he isn't the master of his morality the original it novel is over a thousand pages long and it isn't all about The Adventures of the losers Club let's not forget that it's story didn't just start during the previous film it's been active for millions of years Chara takes a long break every 27 years or so but that's still a ton of time it chapter 2 wraps up the first movie well enough but left us wondering where the heck is moderate yeah you know it we're talking about the giant magic turtle who prefers a nice snooze over terrorizing humans and where's Dan being even more powerful than either it or Mattern there are many crazy creatures in lore that we didn't even touch in either movie and we know that Warner Bros could make another film entirely on the cosmology of the Mack reversal own spider eggs most people refer to penny wise as a he but one of the many twists in the book is that it is actually a female well probably of course we all know that it is really an unimaginable terrifying ancient monster whose default physical form seems to be a giant spider in the book our heroes discovered that it appears to be a female because it's laid a whole bunch of eggs underneath dairy now good just what the town needs now we're admittedly not that well-versed in the biology of unimaginable eldritch Horrors but if it is a female like at the books then there could be eggs lurking around that we just didn't see in at chapter 2 also in the book dairy collapses into a sinkhole while the movie left the town relatively unscathed could there be spider eggs lurking below like in the books if that's the case then couldn't we have many horrific creatures emerging to terrorize the town stranger things if you're a fan of horror then you might also be a thin of a hit show stranger things on Netflix and if you think about it it ends stranger things are pretty similar and not just because they both involve the acting talents of Finn wolfhard both it and stranger things involve a small town being terrorized by eldritch Horrors a creepy alternate dimension from which the monsters originate and overwhelmingly 80's aesthetic and a group of people single-handedly responsible for saving the day considering stranger things has done so well as a show what about the possibility that the continuation of it chapter 2 isn't necessarily a feature film but rather a serialized television program after all tons of fans have fond memories of the it miniseries from 1990 and know we can never capture the magic of Tim Curry as penny wise again but and it's show might not be the worst idea out there prequel as we mentioned earlier there is a ton of lore in the it novel that was barely touched upon in either movie but instead of a film based on penny wise as wacky Mack Reverse adventures what about a prequel after all it has been prowling around for well over a million years meaning there's an awful lot of material out there in 1740 it was active for three years and during that time approximately 300 people went missing from Derry Township that is some Roanoke level stuff right there and it could easily be the focus of a compelling movie or show or the time it awakened in 1851 to convince a man named John Marx and a poison his own family before taking his own life these events could be great inspiration for stories better adapted to the media of film even penny wise actor Bill skarsgård has said it would be interesting to explore the period of time before it chapter 1 starts and we don't want to argue with that guy mostly because of that creepy smile endings far be it from us disparage the work of legendary horror novelist Stephen King but we don't think it's out of line to suggest that he has some trouble wrapping things up seriously talking about not being able to come up with an ending doesn't make the actual ending any better not only does Stephen King not know how to end books but he also doesn't know when to stop adapting his books into other formats every time one of his movies comes out he wants a sequel especially if he didn't like it which he usually doesn't this is the guy who famously disliked Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining which is a film most horror buffs count among their all-time favorites Stephen King also hated the CBS version of under the dome and hopes that Netflix adapts the novel into a series more true to his original work although Stephen King reportedly enjoyed it chapter 2 we don't think he's done by a long shot box office the first movie became the highest-grossing horror film of all time bringing in over 700 million dollars on top of a thirty five million dollar budget that ain't too bad a return on that investment so hopes were sky high for the sequel it chapter two shattered fandango's record for most advanced tickets sold by a horror film and made 37 point four million dollars on its first day its debut was worth 91 million dollars making it the second best ever for a horror film despite the fact that early reviews of the film were less than flattering and that it has a crazy long runtime it still made absolute bank from the very start the most likely reason we'll get a chapter 3 is because the studio wants more less sweet sweet money The Dark Tower and as many other works there are connections to the lore from it and the existence of penny wise for instance and Tommyknockers Tommy Jacqueline visits darienne's he's a clown with spooky eyes staring at him from the sewers then in dreamcatcher mr. gray sees a plaque with the words penny wise lives spray-painted over it so the more Stephen King works get adapted into shows in the movies the more likely we'll get to see more penny wise for quite some time Stephen King has been talking about wanting a sequel to the 2017 movie The Dark Tower and Amazon Prime is working on a series independent of the movie the dark towers tow - darkness is related to its concept of the macro verse if the Dark Tower ends up as its own show or movie it's possible the connection between these two stories could put a new twist on it and provide us with enough concept for a chapter 3 retelling remember earlier when we said Studios are primarily motivated by money well that explains why there are so many retellings of the same story and remakes of the same movies that were perfectly fine in the first place in the novel it starts out in the 1950s but this was changed when the story was brought to the big screen instead the kids start out in the 80s a decade more familiar to most of us so who's to say that couldn't make another at movie but put a more modern twist on it dr. sleep as we mentioned earlier he hated Stanley Kubrick's The Shining mostly because of the way he interpreted Jack Torrance we don't think it's too out there to suggest King relates to the frustrated novelist character and he felt Kubrick made him way too crazy way too fast instead of letting the audience enjoy his slow descent into madness but after all these years were finally getting a sequel to The Shining which is based on King's novel dr. sleep and let's not forget that there was a solid connection between it and the shining the novel it talked about a character named dick Halloran who was an army cook and member of the Derry night club - black spot his shining allowed him to save several lives when the club was burned down including the father of Mike Hanlon is it possible that the connection between this character and Derry could be used during it chapter 3 bill den bro in the first movie bill was shown as the de facto leader of the losers Club who inspired everyone to work together and take down penny wise in the second movie Oh Oh Phil what happened to you man bill was a sensible kid who grew up into an adult who can't write endings for his books and also completely lost his common sense when he encounters a little boy on the street in broad daylight pill decides to grab the kid shake him and demand the kids stay away from the storm drain or better yet convince his family to move then he goes and stalks this kid to the local carnival where he gets devoured by Pennywise let's not forget the penny wise also takes out Vicky and Addie while bill is in town and then breasts when Bill returns to his home who knows if chapter 3 might as well be about dum-dum bill on trial for acting super suspicious surrounding three tragedies that just so happened to coincide with his visit to Derry and no it wasn't me it was the ancient eldritch horror doesn't really stand up in court you can you can trust us on that one we are not trying that one again what do you think about the possibility of hit chapter three is this something you'd love to see in theaters or do you think
