10 Reasons NOT to get a Samoyed

here are 10 reasons not to get a Samoyed Samoyeds are the cutest little fluff bombs you will ever see but training them is very hard our dog Felix turned 7 this year and we still have some problems with him even though we work on them a lot the reason we are making this video is not to tell you this breed is bad we love them so so much but we want to make sure people really understand what they are getting themselves into when they adopt the Samoyed online you often just see the cutest videos but difficult cards are simply left out because it's not that much fun to talk about them we hope for the first time in China where the Breeders were quite popular we immediately fell in love after doing some research we soon found out that these dogs are stubborn I'm stubborn too so I thought that shouldn't be an issue but Felix proved me wrong if Felix wants something he will do anything until he gets it in our everyday life this can be going to another dark when he's not allowed to chasing animals like squirrels or deers or not following our commands because he simply isn't in the mood too snacks don't help in these situations unfortunately because he's not interested in food that much and even our dog trainer said well it's a Samoyed that's how they are reason number two not to get a Samoyed they pull like crazy some whites are from Siberia where they were used to pull a sled and that's exactly what they love to do pulling we met so many Samoyeds over the past years and even though all of them did a ton of least training they still will pull their owners around not all the time but quite often Reason 3 not to get a Samoyed they are not so easy to train semites are not the most intelligent dogs but they are quite clever whenever I try to teach Felix a new trick he usually gets it within a few minutes he can hold objects play dead and do many more cute things when it comes to behavioral training it gets more complicated because as I said earlier many samoits only do things when they want to and not when you want to so get ready for being patient strict and be willing to get a dog trainer reason 4 not to get a Samoyed they bark a lot I don't think this is a bad thing but for some people it might be annoying that this breed is so talkative Felix only backs when we play with him or when he's very happy it's way to communicate and share his excitement for some people though his barking is very annoying because it's loud and they might think he's aggressive let me give you an example when Felix is at the beach he loves to dig holes and because this makes him so happy he barks whenever families pass by they are scared he could attack their children even though he would never do that of course I understand this but this led to some uncomfortable situations on the past also in an apartment with many neighbors The Barking could be a problem Reason 5 not to get a Samoyed the hair this fact is obvious but we've seen so many samoits in the past years with very mad at fur because their owners didn't know how to properly take care of it or didn't have the time or energy of course you could just bring the dog to a professional groomer but where we live we had to call so many before one of them finally accepted us the groomers always said that this type of dog is just way too much work one of them even laughed and hung up once we mentioned the breed crazy right that's why we usually brush Felix once a week for around 30 minutes he's not the biggest fan of it but he accepts it we made a video where we explained how we do it so feel free to watch it you also need to accept that there will be white hair everywhere on your clothes and your food in the car and in your house reason 6 not to get a Samoyed it's not a dog to cuddle some might look so fluffy and once you've touched one you will probably confirm that they feel like clouds I could cuddle Felix all day long but unless I don't want to do it on the floor he won't accept it for very long after a few minutes on the couch a bed he usually gets too hot and leaves this is always very sad for me reason 7 not to get a Samoyed they are picky eaters this might only be the case for some samoits but for Felix it's very true we tried so many different food brands and even raw feeding but he has rejected most of it he rather stayed hungry instead of eating something he doesn't like a hundred percent this can be very frustrating in the beginning when a puppy moves into your home and you want to do everything right so they feel comfortable it took us a few years until we found out what Felix loves to eat and what isn't an option reason 8 not to get a Samoyed They are packed dogs for many dogs it's the reality to stay alone at home many hours of the day because their owners are at work and countering them this is not ideal but I think some dogs don't mind fosamites this would be very horrible because they love to have their pack around them they are family dogs and always want to be part of everything so leaving them alone for such a long time would make them very lonely we usually let our families babysit Felix whenever we can't bring him or leave him alone for maximum two to three hours right now we live in a van with Felix and travel all across Europe so we basically spend 24 hours every day together I think I've never seen him this happy in his life before he's involved in everything we do and he really enjoys it reason 9 not to get a Samoyed they attract lots of attention if you don't like to talk to strangers a more it will definitely bring you in some uncomfortable situation these stocks attract a lot of attention with their outward appearance and if you walk around places with many people around someone will always stop you to pet the dog take a photo or drop a funny comment something like oh he looks like he came straight out of the washing machine we love these interactions and think it's awesome how many times we ended up getting in touch with strangers because of Felix this might be not something for everyone though reason 10 not to get a Samoyed they need lots of movement considering the fact that samoits were sled dogs they like to move and be active Felix gets very frustrated if he doesn't get his daily exercise we either go for two long walks a day or three shorter ones if you can't find the time or motivation in your daily routine a Samoyed might not be the right choice for you there are a ton of reasons why samoits are simply the best they are just super funny spread so much joy and happiness and are a human's
