taking the real estate exam is stressful more than 100 questions to answer strict time limit pressure people finishing really really fast before you how do they do that here's a test taking strategy that you can deploy during the real estate exam to help you overcome anxiety use your time effectively and most of all most of all pass the exam on your very first try when you get the exam don't start answering the questions instead of jumping into the very first question what I want you to do is get an idea of what's going to be covered start skimming through every question this will give you an idea of what will later come up on the exam it will start priming you to think of the answers to the question ahead of time that means you're already going to think about those questions it's like a warm-up exercise for your brain to get it firing on all cylinders also you might find a hint to an answer within another question that's crucial in other words there could be a question later in the exam that could hold information to help you answer a question at the beginning of the exam the next part of this strategy is this while you're skiing through the exam try your best to find the easy questions these are the questions that you know off the top of your head they're simple for you now when you come across a super easy question take a moment relax answer it and then move on if you prioritize the easy questions first you'll be using your time in the best way possible you know that you're getting at least at least those easy questions correct so you're off to a good good start which leads me to the third part of the strategy since there's a time limit there's a chance you run out of time before finishing it's possible any unanswered questions are counted wrong and since every question counts the same you should answer the hardest questions last by doing this you won't miss out on answering any easy guarantee to get right questions because you spent the last 30 minutes solving a hard question this is why I want you to answer the math problems last the math problems take the most time so unless the answer is super obvious on these math questions prioritize the math problems last also there are a lot of fewer math questions in any other type of question it doesn't make sense to spend your entire time on let's just say five math problems you can answer other 100 questions they're a lot easier okay let's focus on the strategy of actually answering these questions this is the good part but before I do that I want to tell you a super powerful way to get more questions right on the real estate exam and that's to hit the like button below I'm just kidding but it does help us grow this YouTube channel and make helpful videos just like this one all right back to the strategy while answering multiple choice questions you have at least a 25% chance of getting it right that's a 25% chance if you make a random guess now if you don't answer the question you drop down to 0% chance of getting it right that means no matter what no matter what you won't get the answer right so what I want you to do is this always answer a question do not leave it blank at the very least at the very least guess man guess even if you're blindfolded picking a random option you still have a shot at getting the question right my favorite quote is this you miss 100% of the shots you don't take by Wayne Gretzky guess what Mr Gretzky must have been a test taking genius because that applies to your real estate exam too now if you want to take that 25% and make it even better odds I want you to do this your chance of guessing correctly increases when there are fewer options to pick from so if you have a 25% chance of guessing correctly with four options four answer options what will happen if you make it three options or two options try your best to eliminate as many options as possible because if you eliminate one option you're 25 5% chance increases to 33% If you eliminate two options that 33% increases to 50% and the 5050 shot of guessing is pretty good when you don't know the answer I'm the subject of guessing there's an important characteristic of multiple choice answers that I want you to look at that is the longest answer if three options are short and there's a fourth longer option then that fourth option is probably the best one to pick if you're guessing the reason is simple typically the longest options are the most detailed usually an answer what detail is the most accurate now this doesn't mean every long answer is the correct one it's just a helpful trick if you're making a guess now this next strategy is completely obvious and it's more of a warning the real estate exam will pull out every trick in the book to fool you it will intentionally try to trick you man don't be fooled for example exle it will give you exception based questions like which is not correct or which is false another way it will trick you is by giving you unnecessary information it can be a long question with tons of information but only the last part is important to know that's why you should always always let me emphasize this again always read the question carefully read the question slowly with Focus don't rush through it if you read the question and notice there's more than one right answer reread the question don't be fooled it could be asking which is false or not correct these are the trick questions side note if the question isn't asking which is false or not correct then choose the most correct answer so if you see two options being correct pick the one that is most correct got that this brings me to the last section of this video I want to identify some of the psychological triggers that can stress us out about the exam while you're taking the exam you might start to see people finish before you and this might make you second guess yourself you might think you're taking too much time on this damn exam in those moments remember it's not a race it's not a race for all you know that person who finished first just turned in an exam that had every question wrong don't worry about anybody else focus focus focus on you and the time speed is not an indication of success give yourself the permission to take the full allotted time available to finish the exam going thinking I'm going in there to do the best I can and I don't care if I'm the last one to finish okay this next one psyches out even the most prepared test takers imagin this you're reading the question and you know for sure the answer is C so you pick C you go to the next question and the answer is also C no problem you're with me then on the next question the answer is yeah you guessed it see again then you start seeing a pattern you just answered C five times in a row that can't be right right wrong you can get the same answer multiple times in a row you're could to be picking C five times in a row 10 times however many times this is another instance of the exam trying to trick you don't change your answer man stick to your gut and keep moving when you change your answer you increase the chance of getting it wrong the same answer over and over is not indication of you getting the questions wrong stick to your gut with that said there's one last thing I want to share with you this will hopefully change the way you approach the exam take a little bit of pressure off your back that is you don't need to get 100% you don't need to get 100% a perfect score even a high score isn't necessary when you turn in the exam you don't find out the score you only find out if you failed or passed so any score over the bare minimum is all the same a 95% on the exam is the same as a 75% so if you get tripped up because you weren't sure about the first five questions don't sweat it there's still plenty to get right the goal needs to be on passing the goal needs to be on passing not getting the highest score possible okay so you can deploy this strategy when you're taking the exam but there's one strategy you really just can't beat there's one strategy that you just can't beat and that's learning the material I know boo who wants to learn listen that create an online prep package it's an online program that gives you practice exams flashcards and ebooks study guide and a whole lot more tools to help you study it makes studying fun and most importantly doable I put a link for this exam prep package in the comments and description below what I want you to do is comment below something like I don't know I'm going to beat this
