couldn't be any signs of life but then an engineer by the name of PETA Ouattara concluded that it couldn't have been a boat trail because there wasn't a white wake skeptics also believed that it was a floating tree trunk for the sake of being balanced it could very well be a glitch on Google Earth either way even if the creature was real there doesn't seem to be any plans on exploring further or trying to get a better look at the animal of course we can't talk about mysterious creatures without talking about the Loch Ness monster even though we've yet to capture images of other elusive cryptid creatures it seems we have a lead on Nessie in Bellevue Ohio 31 year-old Lisa star was browsing Google Earth for any signs of Nessie she had been spending at least an hour per day searching for Nessie Lisa had seen other Nessie images from Google Earth in the past but she truly thought that she could find something of much better quality with some effort after she had dropped her daughter off at school she went back to Google Earth and started looking at underwater images from an earth contributor as she looked through the cluster of photos she was shocked to find a shape that was very similar to how we know Nessie today the photos were taken near the Loch Ness Highland Resort in Fort Augustus so Lisa who was 3,500 miles away in Ohio managed to find one of the most promising leads for Nessie thanks to Google Earth cryptozoology is the study of mysterious creatures that we have yet to officially discover and study often cryptids remain mysteries and we can only depend on rumours and online banter for evidence of their existence we know what you might be thinking with Google Earth putting so many cameras on our planet how is it that we haven't caught an image of Bigfoot yet well we might actually already have done this one is tricky because it was a very distorted image that looked like the shape of Bigfoot but it wasn't clear at all an online paranormal video channel took several screen grabs from Google Earth and basically constructed a compelling argument that claimed that Bigfoot was spotted in the Canadian mountains to be fair this is considered to be one of Bigfoot's hideouts because it's easy to stay hidden in thick forestry the images in question were captured along the trans Canadian Highway in British Columbia and you can see a faint creatures are real these days it seems that Google Earth has given us the amazing ability to stay home and research instead of traveling on site that is exactly what birdlife international did when they were studying Mount mabu in southern Africa the team was examining the area using Google Earth to find wildlife hotspot they found a tree covered mountain with a bear rock on top thanks to Google Earth the scientists were able to take a look at the other side of the mountain with the information obtained birdlife was able to organize an expedition from there the mysterious creatures that were known to roam the area finally had a name they found three new species of butterfly one new species of snake and seven threatened species of birds they are now working on getting the area recognised as an important Bird area otherwise known as an IBA but when it comes to future visits the experts think that the more remote Mount mabu stays the better off the endangered animals will be if more humans come to the area or worse poachers decide to infiltrate then these creatures won't have much of a chance for survival this next image doesn't have much information surrounding it but it has caused a bit of chaos and panic maybe that's because snakes make everyone feel a bit weird this mysterious Google Earth image started making its way around the internet and sent panic to people who live alongside rivers some believed it was one of the larger rivers in South America since the area is known for large snakes image would make sense but this snake was huge it looks like it could take down a small boat and eat human with a single chunk of course there's also the possibility that the image had been edited it has brought about a discussion on the mysteries of large creatures and whether all of them really did go extinct millions of years ago either way there are hardcore believers out there who will continue to perpetuate the legend of a large snake or anaconda if anything it not have an actual encounter with a shark when the movie Jaws came out some people were even too freaked out to take a bath and fear of getting eaten this image of a mysterious shark was taken on Google Earth around 2010 in Liverpool England by Albert Dock the creature itself was believed to be about 35 feet long granted most people didn't have much to worry about since it seemed to be a species that wasn't a threat to humans this image made waves in the tabloid sights and instilled a lot of fear into the locals and Liverpool but it was soon learned that just because a shark was big Google Earth has given us the amazing capability to map out a place without even visiting it cuts down on a research time dramatically when you immediately know where to go this one wasn't necessarily spotted on Google Earth but it left a breadcrumb trail for the amazing discovery you can't say that Google Earth was responsible for one of the most important discoveries in humankind in 2007 dr. Lee Berger was using Google Earth to map caves in the Cradle of Humankind world heritage site in South Africa since Google Earth allows you to look at the images with 3d quality he rotated the images and discovered some shadows and distortions that indicated there may have been caves around when dr. Berger visited a site he took his nine-year-old son Mathew and their dog tau for an exploration Matt then tripped on what seemed like a log at first but upon further examination it was realized that Matthew had found a two million year old fossil not only that but the bones of the mysterious creature reveal themselves to be the remains of a missing hominid species the remains belong to a young boy who was about 4 feet 2 inches tall could you say that Google Earth found the missing link for human existence maybe since Google Earth has contributed a lot to the world of archaeology and ancient history we're going to keep going with a trend this one is a bit backward since the discovery was made first without Google's technology and then Google Earth helped fill in the blanks but it starts off a rather unconventional II a stone cutting yard in Italy was cutting slabs of limestone from Egypt when people there noticed that the pattern looks an awful lot like a skeleton of a mysterious creature a paleontologist named Giovanni bianucci from the University of Pisa saw the fossil and recognized it as a whale that lived in Egypt 40 million years ago when the area was covered with ocean the limestone came from an area known as Sheikh fat old when University of Michigan paleontologist Philip Gingrich caught wind of the story instead of getting on a plane to Egypt immediately he got on Google Earth after scouring the area he actually found images in the sand that looked like a serpent he then traveled a 75 mile radius of the area and found remnants of quarries so instead of wandering aimlessly in the desert gingrich managed to nail down the location of the ancient whale thanks to Google Earth we've been talking a lot about Google Earth and basically how it has given us a magnifying glass to analyze the world did you know that Google Earth led to the discovery of an untouched forest who knows how many unknown creatures we could find wandering about in there it's pretty amazing since we have scoured the earth for hundreds of years so it can be easy to assume to believe that we discovered everything on this planet not quite so in 2012 Welsh researcher dr. Julian Bayless was looking at Google Earth while browsing he noticed a small rainforest sitting on top of a mountain in Mozambique in 2017 he sent a drone to the area to confirm that there was India forest at the top of this mountain leading a 28 person team dr. Bayliss traveled to Mount Leko to get a glimpse of the forest firsthand when the team arrived they discovered there was quite a menagerie of wildlife like deer reptiles and butterflies while that may seem uneventful at first these different species were previously undocumented so while dr.
