you may come across many things while strolling on the beach in fact beachcombing is a common pastime among the expected and common seaweed shells and rocks there are sometimes fascinating items waiting for the right person to find them many rare and valuable finds have been discovered on beaches or sometimes unusual organic matter washes up on the shore and mystified scientists or sometimes the things we find on the beach are downright strange let's take a look at ten of the most insane Beach discoveries we've found mysterious green balls are they giant green tennis balls are they fuzzy green aliens are they green tribbles from Star Trek the answer is none of those but the green balls that sometimes wash up on the Pacific beaches are almost as strange these strange green spongy spheres are actually living organisms in the form of seaweed balls they are believed to be a type of living algae that rolls around on the ocean floor forming a ball shape then in an extremely rare event they wash up on the shore scientists say that lots of sunshine combined with rough currents create the perfect condition for forming the balls and depositing them on the beaches they measure 3 inches and almost a foot in diameter the squishy green balls have appeared on beaches in Australia as well as Japan where they were named Murray moe the term was coined in 1898 and is a combination of the word for bouncy ball and plant that grows in water the green balls were a tourist attraction at Sydney Australia's dy Beach for a few days until they spent a few days under the hot Sun and transformed into nothing but a big smelly mess giant eye a giant eyeball washed up on Pompano Beach Florida a beach Comber founded and immediately handed it over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission the softball sized bright blue eye was put on ice and sent off for analysis scientists originally suspected the giant eye still inside its socket was from a large fish such as a swordfish tuna or whale or other deepwater fish other theories are that the big eyeball belonged to a giant squid the Iowas fresh and holey antenna which raised the question how it ended up on the beach in such a state experts examined and analyzed the eye and based on its color size and structure and the presence of the bone around it they determined it did come from a swordfish based on the straight line cuts visible around the eye socket the experts at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission agreed that the eye was removed by a fisherman and discarded into the water later to wash up on the shore genetic testing would later verify their findings p-38 lightning aircraft 65 years after it crash-landed on a beach in wales an American p38 fighter plane has emerged from the surf and sand where it lay bearing a world war two relic long forgotten by the US government and unknown to the British public for 65 years after it crash-landed the incredible relic had been hidden under the sand and waves off the coast of Wales since 1942 but for the first time since it crashed the wreckage of the rare World War 2 American fighter plane was exposed the wreckage of the Lockheed p-38 lightning was described as one of the most important World War two discoveries in recent history the United States Air Force fighter plane crashed on the Gwynedd coast of Wales in the United Kingdom during training exercises the plane's engines cut out and a plane plummeted to the ground miraculously the pilot lieutenant Robert Elliot walked away from the crash without a scratch the aircraft had been long forgotten by the United States government and was unknown to the British in 2007 shifting water patterns disrupted the sand which had hidden the plane crash for all those years it was first discovered by a family enjoying a day on the beach then a team of specialists from the US flew over to inspect a wreckage the shifting sands eventually revealed the entire aircraft from wingtip to wingtip the discovery of this relic is considered to be significant not only for world war ii historians but also for aviation enthusiasts around the world st. augustine monster two boys playing on the beach on anastasia island off the coast of st. augustine in florida discovered a giant mass that had washed up on the shore line the boys assumed it was a whale and reported their find to the st. Augustine Historical Society and of science where dr. DeWitt Webb examined it dr. Webb reported that the unidentified mass measured 18 feet long by 10 feet wide and it was believed to weigh at least 5 or 6 tons even with a dozen men pulling at the ropes that were tied around the mass the team was not able to budget he sent photos and a specimen of it to the Smithsonian in his report dr. Webb noted that the enormous body appeared to have stumps of several arms or tentacles because of this he concluded that it was the remains of a giant octopus and told the Smithsonian that he was enclosing sections of the muscles envelope of the body octopus giganteus Morril for many years belief remained that the giant octopus had existed but it remained elusive over the years however technology advanced and in 1995 biochemical analysis of a preserved material indicated that it was a warm blooded mammal about 10 years after that DNA tests on the sample concluded that the material was basically collagen that holds together whale blubber bursting the myth of the giant octopus off the coast of Florida what the two boys had found in 1896 that dr. Webb thought was a giant octopus turned out to be simply a washed-up whale space X wreckage three tech company executives on vacation in the Bahamas were strolling along the shore of elbow Cay in the Bahamas when they discovered something out of this world it looked like the wreckage of an aircraft but on further examination they identified the debris as a portion of a rocket in fact it was a carbon panel from a rocket with the SpaceX logo on the panel SpaceX is a private US aerospace manufacturer in California founded by Elon Musk the company launched a rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and as planned the payload fairing which protects against force and heat was jettisoned as the rocket launched through the atmosphere the fairing splashed into the Atlantic and eventually washed up on the beach of the tiny Bahamians island one of the three friends Kevin Eichelberger tweeted photos of the debris and tagged Elon Musk saying that they found part of his rocket must reply thanking them it turned out the fairing contained the housing for a GoPro camera Berger was excited about the possibility of finding footage that may have been captured by the GoPro but he checked the cameras memory cards on his computer and they were empty giant pipes one of the most unusual Beach finds we have seen are sections of giant pipes that washed up on the coastal beaches of England these giant pipes made of industrial plastic are over a half a mile long and are almost ten feet in diameter the pipes were being towed on a tugboat from Norway to Algeria but an Icelandic container ship smashed into the tugboat holding the pipes and 12 sections came loose some of the pipes have been reattached to other boats or safely anchored off the coast in a salvage operation but not all of the pipes were totally salvaged some that broke free floated on and ended up on the east coast of England on the beaches of Norfolk for sea and Winterton on sea pipeline the Norwegian company who manufactured the pipes urged beachgoers to keep away from the pipes because there was a risk of being crushed by one of them rolling over but the beached pipes were too much temptation for some beachgoers the wide diameter was big enough to drive a car through and the height was just enough to lure climbers who scaled the sides of the pipe and walked along the top of the pipes others took selfies in and around the pipes but pipe life eventually sent guards to keep the public away from the pipes while they arranged for them to be carted away harley-davidson more than one and a half million dollars of debris has drifted across the Pacific Ocean from Japan towards Canada's west coast as a result of devastating tsunamis most of what makes the trip across the ocean is usually small useless or inconsequential rubbish however a Canadian man who was exploring an isolated beach on the west coast of British Columbia's graham Island made a remarkable discovery Peter mark stumbled across a big white container like a moving trailer inside he found a rusty harley-davidson motorcycle fully intact also intact was the Japanese license plate still affixed to the bike the Canadian Broadcasting Company first reported the story and then followed up on the license plate with the Japanese Consulate they identified that the owner of the moe sico had registered the bike in the Miyagi Prefecture region of Japan which was hit particularly hard by a tsunami in 2011 the authorities never found the owner of the bike and it is not known if he survived the tsunami an entire ship about 80 years ago a notorious gambling ship known as the SS Monte Carlos sunk on New Year's Eve just off the coast of Coronado California and was left there to rot only some parts of the wreckage could be spotted on rare occasions and only during very low tides but in 2016 El Nino created such strong undercurrents that the ship was clearly and entirely visible right on the beach of Coronado Shores beachgoers could even walk directly out onto the ship's wreckage the impressive 300 foot long ship began as an oil tanker in 1921 called the SS McKittrick it was one of 12 experimental tankers built with concrete which was a design tactic during World War one because of a shortage of steel in the u.s. in 1932 the ship was sold to private owners believed to be mobsters who converted it into a gambling ship the ship was anchored off the west coast of California far enough to be in international waters to avoid US law during Prohibition people looking for gambling bootlegged whiskey or other indulgences to take a smaller boat out to the ship for a wild night out giant Lego a giant Lego statue appeared on the beach in the Siesta Key Florida it was washed up on the beach in 2011 and was spotted by a local man Jeff Hyneman who was out for an early morning wine Heinemann dragged the 8 foot tall figure to shore it was made of fiberglass and weighed an estimated hundred pounds a nonsensical message on the characters green shirt red no real than you are won the back of the figure the words eggo Leonard was discovered along with the number 8 as it turns out eggl Leonard is a dutch painter and sculptor whose work features oversized Lego figures several similar structures turned up on beaches in the Netherlands England and California a spokesman for Legoland an amusement park near Orlando confirmed that the lego man was a counterfeit and was not associated with Legoland Legos nor its parent company Merlin Entertainment Group oil platform an entire 17,000 ton oil drilling rig ran aground in northern Scotland on Dalmore beach the Transocean winner was being towed from Norway to Malta when it was hit by severe storms the rig was detached from the tugboat and it drifted off until it reached to shore no one was on board and no one was injured but the Scottish Coast Guard blocked off the beach for safety reasons the rig actually had 280 metric tons of diesel oil on board we hope you enjoyed this video which one of these items on the beach was your favorite do you wish you had found any of them let us know in the comments and don't forget to subscribe so
