so what culinary conundrum we got planned to confound you today something totally new the massive kitchen better sugar cubes the Rubik's Cube if even heard of Ice Cube let me introduce you to the one inch cube correctly identify the cube and you're safe stay in the game be one of the first four to get it wrong and you'll find yourself in the second round cooking for your place in the competition I really want to be safe in this first round I'm standing next to some of the strongest cooks in the competition and I do not want to go up in a round table information with any of them the kicker is you'll be identifying those one inch cubes wearing a blind fall oh no I feel like all senses play a massive role in eating food and the taste of it and sight is probably one of the most important in that so I feel so nervous food cubes blindfolds and that's up on the gantry um thinking is probably pretty bloody chose to use that pin right let's bring out the one inch cubes [Music] who knew one is cuba food could be so terrifying like we're up in the gantry we don't have blindfolds on and I can't even tell what these kids are but his challenge is going to be so so difficult Wow Oh [Music] thank you gentlemen right what you guys can't see is a table has been wheeled in full of 1-inch cubes we've arranged the cubes from easy to hard the longer you stay in the game the harder they're gonna get right let's get this game started Cecilia your first I am so nervous right now my hands are starting to shake and need to get this right I bought into it and the fragrance pops out straightaway and I'm thinking I've cooked this for my daughter every morning my granny smith apple yes you're right I really really I'm not the first person to get out of this challenge right now charlie I've never done a blind tasting before I can barely contain my nerves [Music] I know I have to get this right because there's no way I want to go into round two I grabbed the cube it feels pretty firm jeez what type of chase Chow like cheddar cheese correct charlie well done now I've got mine correct got a little sigh relief hope that I can get a couple more write everything off you go [Music] having one of the major senses taken away is Gary my heart out of my chest please big cucumber I'm not but what you just taste it is well done [Applause] lucky lucky my first cube comes out I'm really nervous I don't want to go to round 2 of elimination I have a feeling it's kind of squishy but it doesn't feel like a fruit or a vegetable I have a taste but I just can't think about what it is I pull it apart and it comes off kind of stringy chicken correct better absolutely right me it's orange oranges right right and it stays you avocado I'm really used to just picking up something and I just know it by the shape chocolate the fact that all of the food is presented in the same cubes makes it really difficult to try and distinguish them but the food knowledge is really good everybody's getting everything right watermelon well done it comes around to Mimi for her second guess and I'm looking at it and the first thing that popped into my head was nectar and I'm touched yeah and I feel a really smooth skin I'm tasting the food and I can taste something really nice and juicy and stringy it's also got a really vibrant flavor to it I love this always eat it I call it a good name it's smooth it's an x-ray what's your answer mm-hmm that's like trying maybe yeah take your blindfold off I'm sorry it's wrong oh can you tell now thank you mango is my favorite fruit I pretty much it every day and I got it wrong and something so familiar but without sight I had no idea what it was right don't stand over there you're into round two I'm sorry maybe I'm the first one through it around - I'm really disappointed I'm freaking out because this is one step closer to going home [Music]
