[Music] yo what's up cadets of blino and i'm back with a new tutorial on how to order your vocals whenever you start mixing it before we get into it go ahead and subscribe hit the bell notification icon so that you're notified every time there's a new video so recently i had someone ask me about the order of mixing vocals what did they do first and i wanted to go ahead and just give you this gem so you can go ahead and follow so let's go ahead and get started i also do want to mention there's a number of ways how you can mix your vocals but this is my method in my order whenever i traditionally mix vocals alright cool so the first thing i do is auto-tune my vocals the reason why i auto-tune my vocals first is because i want to make sure i'm hitting my notes on key before i start putting all this processing such as compresses eqs and all that so make sure you're singing on key before you start doing all that work hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so all right so now actually getting to the vocal chain so the first thing on my vocal chain is i add a noise suppressor you can use any noise suppressor you can also use the burst from denoiser i made a video about that before and it's a free plug-in so i'm going to put a link in the description for you guys to cop that as well but for this video i'm using waste plug-in and i'm using the ns1 by wave to remove noise from my vocal just so that it's not in there and i can get a cleaner sound hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so next up is the big debate so everyone always asks should i compress before i eq or should i eq before i compress my vocals i'm gonna give this example so whenever you go to the barbershop before he starts cutting your hair what does he do he either starts brushing or combing your hair think of the brush or a comb as a compressor the barber's trying to even out your hair before he goes ahead and starts cutting it think of the clippers as the eq so what you want to do is make sure that you're having something very consistent before you go ahead and just start chipping away at it you want to make sure your vocals are pretty even before you start going in now you can use other alternatives such as the vocal rider by waves or you can go ahead and automate the volume of your vocals hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time girl i'm trying to get with you so after that i like to do subtracted eq into my vocal just so that any muddiness in my vocal or any nestle boxy frequencies i'm taking those away before i start adding things to it so you want to make sure you're getting your vocals controlled and then making sure you're subtracting things that doesn't need to be there hey mama yes nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so next up what i do is put an additive eq but what i do is just boost those frequency ranges just so that i'm getting the clarity and sparkle out of my vocals hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so after putting an additive eq on my vocals i like to put a de-esser now you guys probably noticed before there's a lot of harsh siblings coming through in the vocals and that's because a de-esser is not on there so i like to make sure the clarity is there in my vocals before i use a de-esser hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so after i de-ess my vocals i like to come in with the compressor in order to get some consistency and fullness out of my vocals now i like to use the rvox by ways because it has this nice fullness that it brings to the vocals and also has the noise gate for you guys who don't know what a north gate is and northgate is basically saying hey when there's no audio playing for my vocals i want there to be complete silence hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time girl i'm trying to get with you so after compressing my vocals i'd like to follow up with a l1 limiter hey mama yes nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so so the very last thing on my vocal chain is just putting another de-esser or something that can control my sibilance and my vocals hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so so the modulation effects are just based on what you want for your vocal if you have a very wide instrumental then you can start off using a double 4 or some type of widener or even a delay plug-in that can just have a widening effect and that'll also help to just mesh in your vocals well with instrumental hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time girl i'm trying to get with you so after that i would recommend using a delay plug-in just so that your vocals can have some life to it hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time god i'm trying to get with you so and the very last thing just putting some reverb onto the vocal just to give the vocal a little bit more life hey mama yeah it's nice to meet you got me digging all your vibing features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time girl i'm trying to get with you so so yeah i hope this video helped you guys in order to know the order that you can mix your vocals in i'm not saying this the only way in the surefire way that you should always mix it but this is my way and i hope all the examples i gave before will help in order to start mixing your vocals if you enjoyed this video go ahead and put a thumbs up put in the comment section which you all want to see next if you need to sign nixon master go to bluenosebeast.com go to the contact form on the very bottom of the page send me a message there if you need any vocal presets the story is there as well and i'll catch you guys on the next video hey mama it's nice to meet you got me thinking features i ain't really trying to come and waste your time cuz i'm trying to get with you so tell me boy you better slow say you about to take me home sorry baby
