Hello, this is Moonbeam from Moonbeam Life. Today, I made a natural balancing frame. The bottom plate was printed with a 3D printer and the holder was an 18650 SMT holder. I made it by simply laying down nickel and attaching the holder. I decided to test it and did a conduction test and it worked well. You can check that it works. Natural balancing is possible if you insert ten batteries with the polarities aligned properly. If you connect this balancing frame, you can naturally balance 100 batteries. Now, leave the ten batteries like this with the polarities aligned properly . Connect them. Let's try it [Music] If you connect it like this, you can do natural balancing of 100 batteries at once. First, let's take a look at the process of making a natural balancing frame . m C Ah ch C t Did you have a good look at the production? Then, why do natural balancing? Is it true? I inquired at a cafe I often visit and heard many opinions. There were many different opinions and I thought there was no right answer. There is no correct answer, but in my case, I did it to make it easier to check the natural discharge rate. You will watch the next video . The battery lasts for one week. This is a battery that was previously stored in storage mode. I charged it to 3.65v through a charger and stored it, but as you can see, the voltage is not constant. If the battery is in good condition, it will not discharge if left alone, but if the battery is not good, it will discharge. In order to select such batteries. After charging and checking the natural discharge state, you work on the pack. Then, to check the natural discharge state, you need to check the voltage after charging and write down the discharge amount as shown here. Likewise, charge it to 3.65 and leave it in that state. It would be nice to give it, but the voltage changes due to various reasons. So, if you do natural balancing, you can make the voltage values of 50 or 100 batteries the same, and you don't have to write them all down. If you do natural balancing like this for about a day, the voltages of all the batteries will be equalized. Write down the voltage value and take the battery out again to allow natural discharge. After natural discharge, you can make a highly efficient battery by gathering batteries whose electric charge does not change significantly and working on the pack. If you have checked the voltage of the stored battery, the voltage is low. If you think the value is within your 5th range, I think there is no problem considering natural balancing. So far, I have told you my personal thoughts on why I do natural balancing, and from now on , I will tell you about precautions when doing natural balancing. When natural balancing is performed, current flows from a high-voltage battery to a low-voltage battery, resulting in the same voltage value. At this time, when batteries with large voltage differences are naturally balanced at the same time, a high current of more than 10 amps flows. This can cause damage to the nickel, battery holder, and battery connected to the battery holder . Among battery holders, there are holders made of springs. In the case of such holders, when a high current value flows, the spring may melt. Therefore, natural balancing is not possible. Before doing this, it is helpful to protect the battery by setting the voltage to a certain level with the charger before working. It is also recommended to choose a product that can withstand a certain amount of current such as a holder or nickel. So, although it is a little expensive, I like the product with pins. I use an SMT battery holder. All 0.15t 8mm nickel battery holders were connected as delivered. Today we learned about natural balancing, and in the next video, we will work on a pack with balanced batteries. If it was helpful, please subscribe and like. hi
