Despite the rapid development of cell phones over the years From 3 inches to 6 inches from less than half an inch to one inch One thing remained the same "Do whatever you want, I don't care." Is that really the case Power bank Everyone has one Let's look for Power banks worth $8.99–23.99 and let's go for these with high sales Placing orders What is this thing? It's so green What is this? A 50,000 mAh power bank in this small body? The specs says 50,000mAh 66W Fast Charge and airplane allowed wait a minute I thought 27000 mAh is the cap and 74 Wh divided by 3.7V is 20,000 mAh. Fun fact for you The unit mAh we commonly use doesn't really represent the capacity at all Like the battery of an e-bike has 13.2 ah which translates to 13,200 mAh which is smaller than that of a power bank. What really represents capacity is Wh As we've learned in school power equals voltage times current Why do power banks all use mAh by default? that's because the voltage of lithium battery fluctuates between 3.7V and 3.8V So they all switched to mAh to have bigger numbers Anyway Not to mention the obvious fake capacity The power is not 66W Are you kidding me? I talked to the customer service They told me the 50,000 mAh is the battery capacity the rated capacity is 20,000 mAh This is for the consumer's good How about the 66W? That's the combined power of all ports What? How's that a thing? Is my teacher behind the screen? She always complained if each student wasted a minute 50 of us would waste 50 minutes And I did the math. 22.5+22.5+20.04 That's 65.04 watts what about the other 0.96 watts? Give me that Wait a minute Even the rated 20,000 mAh doesn't seem right This one has 18,000 mAh rated capacity It's this big. How come this one has 20,000? I don't believe it I have to test it myself. What? The measured capacity is 62.7 Wh which is 33% of the claimed capacity Awesome even ChatGPT can't bear it anymore and for charging power I tested Samsung, Xiaomi, and LG Samsung performed best at 15W the graph looks like a waveform Forget about it Just don't explode Then moving on to this green one Despite the plastic green color it only has 34.59% of the claimed capacity not better than the last one Let's look at the instructions let's see what it says "It is recommended to use all electricity in it first." recharge the power bank to full capacity and use it all before charging again. Charge 5-6 hours at a time and repeat it four or five times until it restores the normal capacity." I mean It's 2023. Isn't this a bit too outdated? Actually, though power bank doesn't seem to have much difference It's just a battery and a circuit board But it has evolved into many different forms based on people's needs There are good ones and bad ones Like the 50,000 mAh one for $14.9 or the one as thin as a card For power banks I recommend that you avoid ones from small brands In case one day you left it on the bed to charge and accidentally covered it with the quilt without various protection mechanisms you might be making headlines I'll show you today all different kinds of power banks whether they work or not and is it worth buying If you want one Don't just judge it by its capacity They come into these categories Portable ones large capacity ones and 2-in-1 power banks The purpose and way of use of these power banks differ greatly By the way Their claimed capacity is just a reference I tested their actual capacity one by one Some can fill up 5 iPad minis while some can't even sparkle up MacBook Pro's charging sign From 70% of the claimed capacity Those lower than 70% are clearly using fake specs and are normally from random brands The most ridiculous one died after charging just 5 Wh How much is that? 5Wh is about 1351mAh While the bigger brands such as Lomas, Xiaomi and Anker they are higher than 80% If you are picking one make sure it's a big brand Now Let's have a look at the portable ones Portable charging banks As I understand comes in two forms One is small enough the other is flat enough. What do I mean by that? Let's start with the small "Lipstick" charging bank or "energy bar" This kind of power bank Generally has 3000–5000 mAh which is just enough to keep the phone alive for a while In theory In satchel or pocket It's easy to carry around While this form I call it the Type C destroyer It's easy to use just plug it in And it comes with a stand which is probably the easiest way for you to experience Switch It's actually well designed The charging port is slightly raised for regular phone case but after I used it for a while It's a NO for me I don't know if the port can bear it My hands can't for sure Not recommended Regular sized power bank Nothing special about this one Plain and simple But to be honest Though flat power bank looks big it's usually more comfortable in your pocket The capacity is sufficient enough. And the variation of this is the power bank with its own cable The cables are generally soft and short which allows you to hold it like this it's like a cheaper substitute for Magsafe but of course the charging speed is normally slower Anyway Portable charging bank is suitable for a short-time recharge but for tablets Do you think this will work? If you rely heavily on power banks You can use these with large capacity It's basically an extra battery So the weight and thickness don't matter as long as the capacity is big enough However, only batteries less than 100Wh are allowed on planes So capacity of such power banks can only be as big as 27000 mAh Picking such power banks is easy Only a few things to notice First is the brand Go for the big names Xiaomi, Zmi, Pisen, and Romoss these are good otherwise you may end up buying bad quality ones with small capacity Secondly make sure it's 18W fast charge I tried it myself To fully charge a 30000 mAh power bank It takes 8 hours at 18W and 14 hours at 10W Unless there's a dedicated spot at home for it It'll be out of power every time you go out. And about fast charge There are many protocols for fast charging now. Even every mobile phone brand has its own If they're not compatible, the power would be low So don't assume your phone and power bank both supports 65W and it will work My suggestion is Go for these with PD protocol and check out the highest watts in PD column or ask the seller directly they will usually tell you PD protocol is the most common one From laptop to cell phone or even portable screens Switch, tablets, or cameras PD protocol is universally compatible Another kind of power bank that is popular recently is the two-in-one charging bank which means a charging bank combined with a charger the advantage is obvious you can use it as a charger and pull it off as you go For this form The benefits are clear and so are the disadvantages Charger plus charging bank has a problem it has low capacity and slower speed It felt like It reminded me of Magsafe Those who never used it might think It's a trash It's already small-sized plus wireless charging It's heavy and overheated What a waste But I'll say it anyway Good Magsafe is really ideal Like the ones from Xiaomi It works as a wireless charger on the desk and If your phone has low battery life Just take it with it I tried charging the iPhone 14 Pro from 19% to 95% It's totally enough Of course if you're not an Apple user There is another version for Android bigger No Magsafe It's perfect to avoid situations where the power bank is out of power when you go out The feedbacks are all good Right If you're using Meizu you can also try Magsafe Okay, time to wrap it up. I think you have a better picture of how to select a power bank now Always listen to your need If you seek portability For Android I prefer regular thin power bank If you want one that looks good You can choose "lipstick" or these tiny power banks These weird-looking ones are unnecessary For Apple users try Xiaomi's Magsafe It's really good If large volume is your need Go for big brands and PD fast charge To choose one I think this one from Xiaomi is nice Definitely don't need to worry about running out of power two-in-one charging bank I recommend it as a spare power bank It's not cheap with average capacity and charging speed But on the go Never worry about running out of power What?? You never remember to plug it in? Well that's on you OK that's the end of this video ~ If this video is of any help to you Remember to give me "like" and subscribe ! This is very important to me I'm Cherry I'll see you next time. Bye
