「LOST ARK」- PERFECT THIRAIN GUIDE - Legion Raid Akkan Gate 1

This video will show you the timings and techniques to reliably land both strikes of Thirain's attack against Maurug in Akkan Gate 1 before he floods the arena. For future reference, here are the earliest timings I recommend to cast Thirain at. Note that the timings are different between Normal Mode and Hard Mode - there is about a 1 second difference between the two. Normally, for both strikes of Thirain's attack to hit, you must cast the skill within a certain window that's open for 0.3 seconds. To hit this window consistently, I'll show you an interaction with Maurug that extends your success window and then I will explain the techniques that helped me increase precision. What I've discovered is you can extend Maurug's vulnerability window such that your opening increases from 0.3s up to 1.6s. You can do this by having two same color players get skewered by Maurug at the beginning of the 112 mechanic. Be careful not to get too many players skewered at once. Failing or taking too long to complete the stagger check results in Maurug's vulnerability window shortening or even closing completely. This will cause Maurug to stand still and do nothing after he gets up. Regardless of the opening you select, keeping track of the timing can be challenging. The first trick I use is to initiate a stopwatch the moment I see the orange flash of the stagger mech being resolved. Some players rely on the berserk timer, but I don't recommend doing that because this is more accurate and lets you skip the annoying mental math. If you have a second monitor, you could use the windows Clock app and select the stopwatch option. You can even type "stopwatch" into Google and use the one in your browser. If you only have one monitor, you can try to use your phone but I found the most success by using a dedicated stopwatch program such as LiveSplit. Due to reaction time, its very difficult to start the stopwatch on the very first frame of the orange flash. This is where we rely on the second indicator: the Buff Icon. It looks like a brown helmet right below Maurug's HP bar. This icon usually disappears around 0.2 seconds after the orange stagger flash. Conveniently, the average human reaction time is just about the same duration. If it felt like your stopwatch was activated exactly as the buff went away, launch Thirain once your stopwatch reaches 24.0s in Normal Mode or 24.9s in Hard Mode. The ability to dynamically tune the launch mark helps reduce the variability of reaction time. For example, if it felt like you started your stopwatch LATE, remove a little bit of time away from the mark. The buff icon is also useful because the orange stagger flash can appear differently depending on your video settings. Unfortunately, Maurug's vulnerability window remains somewhat inconsistent. While the recommended timings will work for a large majority of cases, you'll have to use the Double Skewer trick for a true 100% success chance.
