Hi, welcome back. I'm Donkey. We're at CES right now. One of the products I'm looking forward to when I come to CES this time is MSI. It actually launches an e-sports handheld console , and it's actually an Intel Core Ultra e-sports handheld machine. Everyone knows about it. Although the peak performance improvement of this year's Core Ultra is limited , the improvement in energy consumption and GPU are both highlights, which coincides with the needs of handheld consoles. Also, if you have read our posts on IG and haven't followed it yet, hurry up and catch up now . This time MSI not only released a handheld machine, but also a bunch of cool new things, such as the new Titan notebook. It actually uses a huge Vapor Chamber that I have in my hand. This size is really crazy for a notebook computer. They also exhibited a PCIe 5.0 SSD that uses water cooling for heat dissipation . Did MSI actually add an LED signboard to the sea view suite ? Okay, let’s not talk too much. Let’s take a look at what cool things MSI has displayed at the venue this year. Okay , let’s not talk nonsense and go straight to the key points. MSI Claw. What I have in my hand is MSI’s latest e-sports handheld console. MSI Claw has also compiled eight must-see highlights. First , MSI Claw uses an Intel Core Ultra series processor paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. It is expected that there will be two versions of 512/1TB to choose from , but be careful because currently Is it the global release stage ? Which versions will be available in Taiwan? We still have to wait for the launch in Taiwan to confirm that the second screen will follow the mainstream. It uses a 1080p 120Hz IPS screen with a brightness of 500 nits. The third important point is here, and I want to pay special attention to it. Thanks to MSI, the on-site partners actually helped to dismantle the machine for us to take pictures . Sure enough, it is very normal for RD to have a screwdriver on him. Is this considered the first disassembly in Taiwan? Well, this time MSI Claw I think there are a few highlights inside. First, they pack a set of large 53Whr batteries. Ally is 40 Whr / Deck OLED is 50 Whr. The large power is indeed a trend. MSI also packs in dual fans + two heat pipes. The special thing is that you can see that there is a sealing strip around the fan , but the fan on the side of the processor is not sealed but has an air duct outlet. According to MSI , the purpose of this design is to allow the airflow to not only blow outward but also be diverted and directed. The interior is the area I framed so that waste heat will not accumulate inside the fuselage. The third highlight of the interior is that MSI has placed the SSD and network card under the fan. Let me talk about the problem first. For those who like to DIY to replace parts, it is a little easier. It takes some time to remove the entire heat dissipation module before replacing it. For those who are worried and don’t want to bother, remember to choose the 1TB version and it will be done once and for all. But on the other hand, the advantage of having the fan on top is that the SSD and network card are not prone to heat accumulation , and I use a macro lens. I took a look at this engineering machine. It uses Kaixia's 2230 SSD network card and Intel Killer's Wi-Fi 7 network card BE1750. The materials used are no problem . I saw it internally first. I can actually take pictures of the disassembly on site. We also tried our best. Thanks to MSI for their friendly assistance. Let’s talk about the first key processor . Yes, we have previously introduced the Core Ultra series processors built using Intel 4 + TSMC N5 + N6 processes. We also shared our photos on IG. Intel Core Ultra. From this picture, you should be able to vaguely see that the CPU is composed of several partitions. Yes, it is really manufactured separately and then encapsulates the four partitions. The Compute Tile on the left uses It is built using the Intel 4 process , which is the core area of performance after all, so the Intel 4 process is chosen, followed by the Graphic Tile above , which is the GPU part , using TSMC N5. The next two SoCs and I/O Tile are made using TSMC N6. Finally , Intel will 3D package all the blocks together and the Core Ultra processor is completed. Another small highlight is that Intel also added a low-power E-core design in the Core Ultra generation , which is the E-core. E-core helps reduce energy consumption under low loading , so the Ultra generation is generally more energy-intensive. AI-related experience performance continues to be developed from the original HX series . However, for MSI Claw, the focus is Core. The internal display, that is, the GPU of this generation of Ultra 7 has been replaced by the Intel Arc internal display GPU with 8 Xe Cores. The performance of the internal display GPU is much better, so it is energy-saving and high-performance GPU. It is also much better . It sounds like Core Ultra is used in e-sports handheld machines. There is such a thing. This is also the biggest reason why MSI Claw is feasible. However, the actual performance cannot be carefully tested on site. After it is launched in Taiwan, if there is a chance, I will show you in detail. After all, we have almost every handheld machine with MSI Claw. Hope you don’t miss it, let’s continue to look at this time. MSI Claw is equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor. Although the name of the CPU has been changed, the logic remains the same, 5, 7, 9. Bigger is better. Currently, it corresponds to the past i5 i7 i9 . For laptops, the last three numbers can also be temporarily understood as bigger is better. However, according to the sharing of MSI on-site partners, MSI Claw will also have Intel Core Ultra 5. I think the 135H version may be a relatively balanced and more cost-effective choice for those who purely play games. Looking at the specifications , although Ultra 5 has two less CPU P-cores and the frequency is slightly lower , it is also used in the GPU part. The internal display frequency of the Intel Arc with 8 Xe cores is only slightly lower than 0.05GHz, so it should be a pretty sweet CPU for e-sports handheld consoles for purely playing games. As long as MSI offers a sincere price, this version is actually a must. The fourth point of attraction. Next, let’s talk about my initial impressions after touching it on site for about two hours. First, let’s talk about a bright spot outside the specifications. Although the MSI Claw is very full , it weighs about 675 grams. I felt it on site and felt it. It is close to the Steam Deck OLED and is a little heavier , but the small highlight is that the MSI Claw handle has a little more flesh, so the overall holding experience is not bad. You can touch it then , but the feedback performance of the buttons is still some way away from completion. The engineering version is soft and meaty. MSI said that the mass production version will be adjusted again, so we will wait for it to be released later and then we will test the fifth key point . It uses an Intel processor, so the C hole also supports Thunderbolt 4. MSI is also preparing its own docking station, maybe it will also be made into a TB4 docking station. I saw the engineering sample design at the scene and it is quite beautiful . The sixth point is We know that the battery life is 53Whr , but the actual performance will be measured later. According to the data provided by MSI on site, MSI Claw compares with Ally. In Forza 5 1080p performance mode, Claw can last for about two hours , while Ally can last about 1 hour and 5 minutes , so 53Whr is deducted. Considering the 40Whr capacity difference, is the Core Ultra's energy consumption expected ? Only after testing can we reveal the seventh key point. Currently, MSI has also launched an exclusive MSI Center M interface for Claw. The interface is generally beautiful and the basic functions are currently available. Engineering machines also have wattage, and you can customize the plug-in. The minimum can be 20W and the maximum. In 40W battery mode, the minimum is 20W , but the maximum is 35W. In addition, the speed and performance settings of the two fans can be manually adjusted, etc. Currently , there are several detailed adjustments that players care about after playing. For example, frame rate limit, quick wattage adjustment, GPU setting , display quality quick setting, etc. It is not ready yet and may not be updated until the commercial version. MSI Claw is currently expected to be priced at US$799 in North America for the Ultra 7 version and $799 for the Ultra 5 version. It’s 699 US dollars , so Taiwan should have a similar price point to Ally Deck OLED. It seems to be very ambitious. Anyway, let’s wait for the final actual device. I can only say this for now. I’ll test it in detail when I have a chance . I’ve finished reading the first one. Let’s take a look at this year’s heavyweight laptops. I’ll pick out a few interesting laptops . The first one is the powerful MSI Titan 18 HX. MSI’s top laptop this year currently uses the i9-14900HX of the Intel Core HX series paired with RTX. The key point of the 4090 independent graphics is that it has four memory slots 32x4, which is 128GB M.2 SSD. It also gives space for three, one Gen5 and two Gen4. The craziest thing is that MSI uses a whole huge Vapor Chamber, which should be like this In the past few years, laptops have been on the top VCs. What’s even more crazy is that MSI’s Titan can actually squeeze out a 200W CPU under PL1. The graphics card plus CPU can even reach 270W , which means the graphics card is 175W. Well, the CPU is 95W, which is really ridiculous . It has nuclear bomb-level performance. I even checked the specs. The transformer is actually 400W. The screen is also very powerful . It uses 4K 120Hz Mini LED and has been certified by VESA DisplayHDR 1000. According to our understanding , it is also the AUO AmLED solution that everyone is more confident about , and this set of 18 The top-of-the-line solution MSI should be exclusive for a while. The keyboard also retains the mechanical keyboard. The cool thing is that this time the touchpad also adopts a hidden + analog feedback design , so you can’t really press it but simulate feedback through vibration . The on-site version is not final yet, so I can’t actually test how it works. It is a brother machine, the Raider 18 HX. It also has the highest i9-14900HX, RTX 4090 , four memory slots , but the SSD becomes two, one Gen5 and one Gen4 . It uses 6 heat pipes for heat dissipation. The solution is CPU + GPU. The maximum wattage is 250W. The transformer is a 330W version. This performance is actually already over the top. The screen can also be up to 4K 120Hz. AUO Mini LED , but the keyboard is a membrane touchpad, which is also the previous solution. The next one is also from MSI. The new machine is called Stealth 18 AI Studio Stealth. This series has tended to be thin, light and high-performance in the past , so it already has two versions: 14 and 16. The focus this time is that they also released an 18-inch version , but because it focuses on being thin, light and high-performance , the processor is Intel. Core Ultra 9 185H , but you can also choose RTX 4090 with up to 64GB of RAM, 2 Gen4 SSD slots , and the top one also has a 4K 120Hz AUO Mini LED. The weight is about 2.9kg. Titan and Raider are both 3.6kg , so it is indeed relative. It’s a thin and light machine , but 18 inches is hard to associate with thinness and lightness. In addition, there are two more friendly machines. One is the Crosshair and the other is the Sword. Both use i7-14700HX processors and up to RTX 4070 graphics cards. The two brothers are very similar in appearance , but one is 140W and the other is 105W. But everyone knows that RTX 4060 and 4070 can actually reach the sweet spot with more than 100 watts. So although the details and materials used in the two machines are still different , the 105W You can actually pay attention to the version as long as the price is OK. How many partitions do you think the RGB keyboards of these two units have ? First of all, it’s not Perkey. The good answer is 24 partitions. In fact, the partition is really enough to be fake and real. There are many more gaming machines , but the last one I want to talk about is called MSI Cyborg 14. There was 15 before. This time there is a 14 version. In terms of specifications, it is i7-13620H + up to RTX 4060 with FHD 144Hz screen and weighs only 1.6kg. It should be obvious from the specifications that it is not a high-end orientation, right? So MSI has two settings for this machine. One is the lightest 14-inch. Gaming laptop The second one is the most affordable 14-inch gaming laptop. The current estimated price of the entry-level gaming laptop in North America is about NT $999, which is more than NT$30,000 . It only has 3 heat pipes and a single fan cooling solution. The GPU is not fully charged and is about 45W . The highlight is that it has built-in RJ45. In addition , this year’s laptops are talking about AI MSI. It also shows many cool new things . For example, the first MSI added AI automatic scene switching , such as opening Word. Here it will automatically switch to the corresponding scene, start a video, switch to entertainment mode, start a game , automatically switch to game mode , and it is not only a performance conversion, such as watching videos, but also automatically adjusting RGB brightness , changing screen brightness, performance settings, etc. Secondly AI DLSS 3.5 is also a new AI. The third AI is MSI. It has launched an AI Vincent graph tool core. We also asked whether it is based on Stable Diffusion . We also compared the difference in image production efficiency between Core Ultra and the previous generation on site. Core Ultra has After the NPU is added, it is really much faster. What is special is that this generation tool of MSI can finally output PSD , so you can rearrange the images produced by AI through Photoshop or use the materials to make the overall image production more practical . This machine is This year's new Creator 16 AI Studio and CreatorPro 16's new molds are very beautiful. I will have the opportunity to drive two more. The highest is Intel Core Ultra 9. The 185H is only 16. The highest graphics card is RTX 4090 Pro, and the RTX 5000 graphics card series with Ada architecture. Then The weight is within two kilograms, 1.99 kilograms , the highest screen is 4K 120Hz Mini LED, the fourth AI focus, MSI also showed the Core Ultra NPU, which is actually very helpful in reducing the energy consumption of real-time computing. The one shown on the left is Microsoft internal The built-in video real-time background blur is calculated through NPU , and the CPU power consumption is only about 10W . If it is a traditional GPU solution, such as NVIDIA Broadcast CPU, it will take about 16-17W, and the GPU will take 26-27W, which adds up to about 40W . So the NPU actually imagines the future. The space is quite large. MSI also showed that NPU can actually be used for audio and video transcoding as long as the software supports it. You can see that when using NPU calculations to output images, you will see that the CPU load is much lower. Okay , let’s go here first for laptops. Finally, MSI actually exhibited a lot of new things , such as 17, 32 and even 49-inch QD-OLED screen groups. The sea view suites in many buildings are really beautiful . MSI also exhibited the concept of adding LED to the sea view suites . You can customize it with any animation you want. We discussed on the spot that this solution is possible for mass production. Of course, the cost is also much higher. If you are interested, you can knock the bowl down. In addition, MSI also showed off their new fan link design. The two fans are They are magnetically attracted together. There are two small squares on the top and bottom. They are also magnetically designed. One controls the RGB and the other controls the fan. You see, after I unplugged it, the fan stopped spinning. Then I unplugged the RGB. If the RGB was broken , I just plugged the fan back in. I started converting to RGB in the same way and plugged it in and came back. There is also a new RTX 4070 Ti Super on site. This concept should come from the founding card. The design focus of the front and rear fans is that the metal parts are really beautiful. I want to make a silver version and add RGB. I will ask for it. Not too much , but the weight is really heavy. Finally, MSI has also launched the entire SSD ecosystem. The previous Gen 5 SSD with a high-rise building on the motherboard is actually very crazy. Today, an SSD with a fan is also on display at the scene. There are even water-cooled SSDs. You can see that the cable with a pump here can reach a maximum transmission speed of 14GB/s, which is 14000MB/s. However, water cooling is still a concept because air cooling is actually more than enough, so air cooling should be available. In addition to the launch plan, MSI also showed off 6E Gaming routers and even MSI is expected to launch Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Router. There are so many things on site. MSI should be considered as the brand with the most new products at this CES. I can’t finish it in one episode. When I get a chance to go back to Taiwan, I'll unbox it slowly and show it to everyone. What I'm most looking forward to right now is probably the MSI Claw. If I have the chance, I'll open the new Creator and Titan. How are they performing? MSI 's scene at CES this year This is about the end of the overall summary. There are really a lot of machines. We have tried our best to sort out the key points and quick thoughts. I hope everyone can take away the most key points at once. If there are more details you want to know, please feel free to leave a message below to discuss together . Because there is currently no machine that can actually test it. Even if there is one, it can’t be brought out now, right? Let’s look forward to the new generation of laptops in 2024 that will be just as exciting.
