“Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Leave Nigerians Feeling Betrayed By Government”

right talking about people who are always on their game especially when it comes to trying to drum up support and get content for their next Netflix project the Duke and Duchess of mtito Harry and Megan have gone on a well let's say a quazi royal tour of Nigeria they certainly haven't been uh meeting presidents and representing the royal family only of course themselves but Megan of course did a genealogy test and looked into her Heritage and found out that she is almost half Nigerian and that I think is sort of gu them somewhat in wanting to go there and do their photo calls I understand as well that Nigeria will be hosting an element of the Invictus games set up of course by the Duke of Sussex and he's been over there as well meeting uh young Nigerian servicemen veterans who have been injured and in the process of recuperating who could well find themselves competing in the Invictus games obviously this is a huge PR exercise for the couple as they try and regain popularity and they had that very successful South Africa tour back when they were working Royals it was always the Queen's ambition to get them out and about around the Commonwealth and use uh Megan really as a great tool for representing a modern Ro family but not long after that tour did Megan sort of do her deey crying to the camera and say nobody knows how hard it is and then off they went to Canada then America and have decided really that they miss it and clearly want to continue doing it so have flown off to Nigeria on Friday to represent well I don't really know what it's not the raw family but um how to the Nigerians feel about this or the photographs or the videos online show beaming Smiles the sort of red carpet being rolled out uh dancing happiness hugging uh they were even welcomed at one event as the princess and the prince she's not allowed to call herself the princess of course stripped of those titles um but does everybody in Nigeria welcome the pair being there well who better to speak to then the Secretary General of the National Youth Alliance of Nigeria T in Aro thank you so much for coming on T it's great to have you here and we were going to have you on Friday it didn't get rang of this story but now we've got two whole days of them being there so tell me how is Nigeria feeling about the Duke and Duchess and their visits well thank you very much Al Nigeria we feel disappointed we feel um abandoned betrayed we feel um you feel that the government is nonchalant they only care about the media bz publicity using the migan and Ari but they abandoning The crucial challenges of Nigeria as I'm talking to you now a lot of Nigerians they went to bed last night hungry the people are starving minimum W is yeah is it sort of like an uncomfortable juer position let's say seeing this wealthy privileged young couple from California come over because Megan's don't know genealogy and they're making a Netflix documentary and they've been visiting ing the Army general of course and it wasn't that long ago there was sort of big protests against the police in Nigeria so I'd like your thoughts on who they've chosen to visit and why um and staying in the Hilton in Abuja and the presidential Suites that's a hotel I've stayed in myself as it happens a pretty nice hotel but it doesn't really reflect the reality of uh what often is going on on the ground in Nigeria and it is uh very recent breaking news of course that uh poor young school children in the North faced another slew of kidnapping from Hardline islamist groups and yet these two seem to be going around Nigeria like it's Hollywood yeah nans are still in the Captivity of kidnappers protesting on payment some soldiers they take pay is less than 22 retired officers they are being ow their pensions they W of the officers is oh the audio is going slightly in and out with you the connection is not brilliant which is such a shame because I really want to hear your thoughts we'll keep going for another minute or so and see if we can get a better connection um but if we don't I'm afraid we'll have to sort of see if we can call you back at some point but um you know do most people in Nigeria like the Royal Family do they like Harry and Megan are they interested do they even know who they are do they care who they are is this sort of a bit of Stardust however ugly it may seem in comparison to real life issues of Nigerians or is I mean do people really care sorry I don't get that yeah I saying the ordinary Nigerians sort of are they Star Struck by Megan and Harry well well you see Nigerians are happy people we welcome visitors we welcome friends of um of Nigeria people that care about us however we have no problem with ar Oman our problem is the government the government the what they are doing is just misplay priority as I'm done it to you now a lot of Nigerians are protesting for Hunger people are shouting power the local dialect that say look we are hungry and they calling the president only meaning thief and everything so again it's just to me it's misplaced and Nigerians are not happy with the visit of course we have no problem with migan or ar our problem with the government and the Youth of Nigeria that look enough is enough we cannot continue like this we cannot continue to allow our government to put up nice funfare shows outside outside International Community while our people are hungry they are starving we unprotected people are losing their jobs every day factories are holding up companies are downsizing their staff staff are being old pensioners are being old my father is a pensioner I know what what he passes through every day of the week and again we have so many serving serving Personnel they are not being paid their salary as that people are being old there are some states subnationals Nigeria that they be open 14 15 16 month salaries and they've not been Tak care of yeah t I can understand to me it does seem like a very sort of peculiar Jos because you also wonder you know why on Earth this isn't a state visit these two have no powers of actual diplomatic leverage they don't represent a government they don't represent a country they're there representing themselves and one has to ask who is funding the majority of this trip you know did they pay for it themselves is this going to be paid for by Netflix they've got some good footage are they going to deal with the real life issues of people in Nigeria or just go about glad handing people for their own ends I think I know the answer to that t
