some moves particularly on the defensive side of the ball there you see tak mckinley the edge rusher malik jackson on the interior of their defensive line all coming over but no move bigger than bringing in john johnson the third from the la rams and he is with us right now always a great day here on ta when we get to talk to a ball hawk a little play making safety back there in the secondary john welcome congratulations on your new deal with cleveland thank you thanks for having me um i'm excited it's a wonderful opportunity and it's like the next chapter of my life so i'm ready for it going into your fifth year now what really attracted you to the cleveland browns what was the biggest thing just um you know they got all the pieces to win you know they won last year um they went to the wild card game they won that against the steelers went to the second round lost against the chiefs they ended up going to the super bowl so they got all the pieces had a good defense already great coaching staff the city of cleveland is unbelievable um i got stopped twice when i went to sign my deal so i mean it's just amazing opportunity and i'm really looking forward to it so i mentioned uh play making safety a ball hawk back there you're one of only five players last season with over 100 tackles and eight or more passes defense so it's an elite little club that you got going how does this browns defense accentuate your skill set as a safety oh look i look at it this way um you know coming from the rams i had aaron donald and jaylen ramsey now i'm going to miles gary and denzel award so whenever you got a rush and guys that can cover you know get hands on the ball tip tip balls up make plays on the ball you got the opportunity to do a big do big things and um you know we got grant delphi coming off an injury ronnie harrison came right in and made spectacular plays so it's just a bunch of pieces there that just need you know that glue i always consider myself the glue when i come into a team and just be that guy that people can rely on make plays and be accountable hold others accountable and that's what's going to happen in cleveland yeah i wanted to talk about that because what you were the defensive signal caller last year right for the rams so and now you've got this young secondary in front of you i mentioned going into your fifth year denzel going into his fourth you know we didn't see greedy williams or grant delpit last year because of injury but two talented young players how do you see this secondary coming together oh i mean like you said all the pieces are there um the coaches are there you know joe woods the defensive coordinator he was down in denver when those guys were unbelievable in the secondary so it's just a perfect fit for me and like you said there's young guys not too much experience in the league obviously i have that experience so you know i'm just gonna give them everything i have and i know they can do it athletically so it's just gonna be like you know like a mind game and we're gonna go out there and have fun with it that's the most important thing so i know you said you loved being in cleveland now the fans have already kind of welcomed you in but what are you gonna miss most about being out here with us in los angeles and playing with the rams uh you know probably maybe the weather the most that's the you know the weather's a little bit different than cleveland but uh you know the love from the city uh it'll be cool you know the food was great it's right up there on the lake um and it's just tons of things to do so i'm uh i'm gonna miss the weather i'm gonna miss you know i don't know the nightlife probably not you know i'm at a different stage in my career i can't be you know going out like that right so yeah so i won't i'll be alright in cleveland yeah you will uh and look you've already been to a super bowl right with the la rams you know what it takes to get there you mentioned the browns are on the up right they were in the playoffs last year into the second round you feel like you've got a better opportunity now to get back to the super bowl with cleveland than maybe you had with la oh for sure you know anytime you got a good defense you could run the ball you got great chances of going to the super bowl i tip my hat off to nick chubb he's one of the best runners i've seen oh not just in today's game you know just period he's one of the best runners i've ever seen run the ball so anytime you can run the ball and play good defense you got a chance and we got a fan base is going to go crazy it's going to be hard to win in cleveland for other teams so you know it's looking good there it is jon johnson one of the newest members of this dog pound defense for the browns john
