“Daikin ONE thermostat is JUNK” 😬

in the past year dyin has released a new thermostat the dyin one touch that replaced its original dyen 1 and in this video we're going to be doing a review of the dyin one touch and decide whether or not it's an actual upgrade from the older version of the Dyan one if you're just tuning in for the first time and you haven't seen our other video about the Dyan one we will make sure to link that at the end for comparison so make sure you check that out if you haven't done so already now this video is actually in response to a comment on that video and I'll read that comment first just to give you some context but on that note if you have any questions about your HVAC and you're in the market for HVAC please feel free to post a comment in the comment section because we do read to and respond to the comments and we also use that information to make content that is pertinent and relevant to you based on the questions that you're asking so that being said I want to read this comment and then chime in with some updates about the new Dy one the Dy one touch and how it Compares with the older Dy one Garrick 4 said Dyan thermostat is garbage the wheel is a joke the touch screen is from the '90s no sensitivity at all and very laggy my dyin keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi and it takes like 5 to 10 minutes to reconnect it typing the Wi-Fi password on it over and over again try typing a 15 character password on that stupid non-responsive touchcreen it is a joke the app is okay but it only functions if the thermostat is online which in my case it keeps disconnecting so annoying well Garrick 4 I have to say I couldn't agree with you more as a dealer of the Dyan product line uh one of our annoyances was the original design of the Dyan one thermostat now that being said it's what we have at our office it's also what I have at home because I have a vrv life system and the Dyan 1 had the most compatibility for what we were looking to do but it is by no means the iPhone of thermostats it's definitely more of like the cheapest Android thermostats like the Android you would get at the gas station on a prepaid burner phone okay I'm getting a little rough here sorry dyin but I'm going a little hard but the bottom line is that I want to talk about some of the feedback they gave gave us in this comment because when they talked about the wheel we talked about the wheel in another video which everyone complained about uh which is why they removed it and I don't know if the wheel was maybe there just to look cool but it definitely did not function how it was supposed to and if you look at it in our original video that was one of my biggest criticisms was that when you spun that wheel it was completely non-responsive it might go up it might go down uh which is why we just advised people to use the app on their phone because it was the best way to make use of the thermostat the app works pretty well I don't have that many issues with it but there are times when it would disconnect from Wi-Fi and I would have to reconnect it a few times but normally once you get it working and you get the Kinks worked out and ironed out those issues tend to stop at least in my personal experience so now that you have that as a benchmark in this video we're going to talk about whether or not the dyin one touch improved on the original design and if it's talk about the Aesthetics now as you can see it's a much smaller footprint than the original Dy one with the wheel the dyen One Touch has a bigger touchscreen and because they got rid of that clunky wheel that no one used anyways this is what reduced the amount of space that it takes up on the wall while still giving you or managing to give you a bigger touchscreen and as far as the comment earlier about the old dyen one I want to touch briefly on the Dyan one is required to be used on the Dyan fit and some of their inverter products and the reason is because it's actually based on the Honeywell ctk 04 technology and is required in order to use it as a variable speed air conditioner and the reason you must have this communicating thermostat is because the thermostat is part of the communicating system that tells the system how to ramp up and down based on the indoor and outdoor temperatures and the load on the actual space and the reason I point this out is because if you were wondering you know if you're considering the Dy and fit but you wanted a basic Nest thermostat for example unfortunately the nest will not work with the D and fit as of currently because of this so I just wanted to take a moment to point that out now let's talk about the Dyan One Touch again as you can the screen is bigger in my opinion I do like the interface and how it works or at least works better uh the touchscreen is definitely more sensitive than the older version of the dyin one and it is a little bit more responsive to your finger which is nice because I do agree with the commenter that the original dyin one screen was not very sensitive and I would say this is definitely an improvement and as far as the comments about constantly disconnecting from Wi-Fi without using this Dyan one touch on a regular basis I can't attest to whether those type of issues are fixed but honestly in my opinion that type of stuff happens with Nest thermostats on our boiler as well so anytime you're using technology and you're introducing it into the mix thermostats will get a little bit glitcher if you want the most reliable thermostat then just get a basic analog thermostat that only turns on and off and doesn't use batteries because anytime you introduce a Wi-Fi technology or more features obviously it's great when it works but sometimes they will have the occasional glitches which is why you find yourself yelling at Alexa in the kitchen from time to time or maybe that's just me and if you happen to be in one of the areas we service like Denver Colorado or Phoenix Arizona
