Just a few days ago the new version of Lightroom Classic came out, today we are going to see what new features it brings and we are going to focus on a specific feature that I think is being the icing on the cake. I am Kik Molina and I welcome you to my channel this new version came out about 20 days ago however here in the area where I live it was released maybe a week ago So I downloaded it I have been using it I have seen some interesting things that it brings and today I am going to talk to you about We are going to be working specifically with this photo that I have here, which is a premarital photo that tells you a wonderful couple Francisca and Mauricio A few days ago and well, as we can see the user interface, the appearance has changed slightly, what stands out the most. view if you have this configuration that I have because we know that the lightroom screen So to speak it can be customized with the different the different features that you want but if we focus on let's say in this appearance that I have what most calls to attention There would be two things, firstly the histogram that is slightly different and here in the options bar in the bar where we normally make modifications to the photograph the typical hsl no longer appears but has changed to this one called here mixer colors Okay so if we download this we are going to realize that the typical hcl that came out before is no longer available but this thing that is like eh it is like to choose many colors okay however if we go over here and click here we can see that it does not come out as it was before, I want to clarify that this photograph has already been retouched, it has already been developed, it is not the topic of this video to explain to you how to develop a photograph, that's why I have it already ready, no. But then if we go to this point color What is here is one of the first very different features that it brings with the previous version and that is that if we select, for example, the point of this shirt as where I already have it selected, which would be this one that is here, we can Modify the tone about that shirt you may say Quique But that could be done before if I go here to the color mixer I can still select the point I want etc. yes it is true but now it can be done in a much more precise way Because if we go down a little bit here where it says Range in this part of the screen we are going to realize that we can select how it is done, for example in premiere or how it is done in D Vinci and I don't remember in which other programs it is done But there are several programs that do it. They don't have like that, so what you can do is select the color you want to modify in a range of tone saturation and luminance to be able to make a very exact modification. What we can do is here visualize the range and notice how the entire photograph goes away. to black and white except the area that I am in or the color that I am selecting then Within this Range I can expand the range so that it is no longer green or more blue For example, and here I should start expand if there are colors like the ones I am selecting but in this case I am selecting only the Light Blue So we are not going to see much modification Okay I am going to leave it here in the very very closed tone range specifically the one I chose and in the saturation range we can leave it practically in the whites or go to the entire saturation range of that color and finally in the luminance range we can go to the shadows to almost blacks But of that same tone or practically stay only in the light ones Okay then it gives us that game to be able to select the color and well clearly once we have it selected we are going to change the tone in this case of his shirt which would be the only thing Light blue for example here I put it purple we can change the saturation, take it practically to gray or take it to a very strong purple etcetera etcetera okay if we don't want to do it with the shirt but for example with the color of the grass, many people like the grass to look bluish, notice that by selecting the tone that I already did it, we can do the same, take it, let's see here, visualize Range, everything is placed in everything that is green, it remains in color and the rest remains in gray scale or black and white, whatever you want to say, so here I can do the same. expand the range, look. For example, here I am only in the green ones, his shoe, the shoe of this person from Mauritius is in grayscale, it is in black and white because it is not selected, but when I expand the range towards the orange ones look how her shoe was selected, Francisca's skin here, and her leg here, too. So that gives me a range of being able to work with the exact color that I want, if I'm modifying, I don't know just the green thing, but I don't want it. If it goes towards oranges I don't want it to affect my skin. So in this case I would have to come in the tone range only towards greens and once I do that I can change those greens that I already selected and take them towards oranges Look at how the leaves of the trees and the grass are changing or taking them towards the greener. Okay so it's very similar to hcl. It's similar but it gives me a little more control over the specific color that I want to work on, but with hcl it doesn't. I know if you have ever worked on it but when I selected, for example, green. Look, if I select green here, he is going to modify absolutely all the ranges that he believes to be green and if you look here on the screen, he is modifying both the green like yellow which was not what I wanted Okay so in that sense it gives me much more control over what I want to do however what we are going to do now is this part that I think is fascinating. Many times what we photographers look for is the famous boke, the famous background blur so that the image can be seen as well as what separates the background from the main character and so that it looks pretty and so that the lights look round. Well It is no longer necessary to have a lens with a very wide aperture, it is no longer necessary to have 1.4 1.4 Sorry or a 2.0 because even if you have, I don't know, a 3.5 or a 5.6, through this tool you will be able to solve those problems and if you pay attention to when Well here First of all, here it says early access, that is, it is in the Beta version, there may be some errors, surely Lightroom is going to start correcting it with these updates, but what I want to show you is that here when we are going to apply it. Notice that He is going to do an analysis of the photograph. There he is doing the analysis with the wheel and he is going to blur the entire background, leaving us only our main subjects. One of the things that the program asks for is that there be a person or an object. defined that it is separated from the background to be able to do the issue with Artificial Intelligence no. Then you will say well Quique But this is like what iPhones do with their system and I don't know what well no no because I want to show you the quality of the detail, look, for example, when I get closer to the girl's hair. How she makes a practically perfect separation, you can even see the textures or the little threads of her clothes and if I get closer, for example, here to her hair. here from Mauricio Look at how they look Even the smallest hairs separated from that blur so it's not like what cell phones do but it goes one step further and gives you a blur that looks realistic Okay and the other thing it does is that It gives you a real depth of field if you look at the background, we're going to do it again so you can see it, it blurs the background, but I invite you to look here near them where it's supposed to be focused when I apply this blur. This part remains focused. That is to say, it respects the focus distance or the depth of field that I have. When creating the effect, this new effect has many options. For example, we can choose the type of hole with this little round hole, which is the Typical of the lenses that are very very expensive is a circular hole, we have this other one that if I'm not mistaken is known as a donut or something like that, a bubble, sorry, and it gives me this effect, look here, with a brighter aloe of light around it and at the same time. center a little more opaque we have this other one that is characteristic of old lenses Okay that is a hexagon Pentagon This is a pentagon Okay with five leaves and it is characteristic as I told you about lenses eh lens analogues this antique we have this other one that this one is The one known as the donut takes a little while to make the change but look how this type of boque looks. And finally we have this other one which is the cat's eye which I find extremely interesting because if you look at the center basically the boque that it makes or the blur that it makes is round But as we get closer to the edge it makes it oval in shape, so it does not respect that effect that the lenses that come with this type of boqué give you with this type of blur to What I particularly like is that it is practically round and I work with that and it is the one that I applied to this photograph in fact but it doesn't just stay there but I can choose the amount of blur I want, for example by magnifying the focus until no I know this would be like a 045 if I'm not mistaken an f 045 or on the contrary take it to a I don't know a slightly more hidden f that I like to leave it around here for 50 55 more or less around there it seems to me that It looks pretty good, no. So that in terms of the type of focus and the amount of focus, but it doesn't stay there, but outside of that, we can see here we're going to go down a little bit. We can see here where it says visualize depth, it's going to represent the image. Through colors, these colors what they want to tell us is that what is yellow or orange or in those warmer colors is what is focused and what is in colder colors, that is to say, going for black is what I miss. to go out of focus okay So in this case it is another very very interesting success of lightroom Because if you look at the program as it is in Beta version it does not do a perfect job look here for example we are going to remove the depth visualization And if you look here We have an error Okay I have the blur Here I have done it but in this area I have not done it so with this depth visualization tool I can review these these small details that perhaps the program is making a mistake and modify them myself Okay so I'm going here to the blur tool and I'm going to get this option that is a brush option as typical of Lightroom and I can go out of focus, I'm going to do it quickly So it's not going to be pretty Okay but I can go unfocusing this area we are also going to go down a little eh it takes a little while the program is quite heavy So you have to have a little patience with this but I can paint the entire area that I consider should be out of focus as well and Well here I moved towards the dressed, what I can do is go, here I have it. Look at blurring, I can go to focus. And instead of blurring, what I'm going to do is return focus to that area. What I painted and what I made wrong, I can also modify the flow, the density, all the characteristics of the photograph that I want. Better said, all the characteristics of the brush are out of focus and once I have this painted, obviously doing it in a precise way in a good way. I remove the visualizer here and notice that I already blur the entire part that I had it focused here and I blur it out. It looks horrible, I know, but it's just a sample. So as you can see, this is a spectacular tool that you now have available in Lightroom in the version, if I'm not mistaken, this is 10.3.1 or something like that. I'll go with you. I'm going to leave it written here if I'm wrong but basically it is the version that we are going to start using from now on and throughout 2024 and obviously they are going to make more updates as the year goes by but I wanted to show you That seems like a super tool to me interesting, super powerful for those of us who do not always have a lens that has a super background blur or that, for example, also if the main subject is not that far from the background, being able to blur even if it is not, has many many applications and as I said, it has others within the program but if I continue explaining this the video is going to last forever so for now I'm going to leave it here. I hope If you liked this video, if so, leave me a comment telling me that you want to see, I don't know, the second part and I'll explain the rest of the things that they bring, which are super interesting, but in this case we wanted to focus on the blur, so no. That's all for today I hope you liked it, if you did, support me with a like and you know that it stimulates me a lot to continue creating this type of content.
